Posted here before.
Have been in contact with Lorna Wing. Waiting list is six months and price is £1900. I appreciate the waiting list is normal, but £1900 is pretty expensive. Rang the NAS helpline and they said that anywhere between £500-£2000+ is normal. Have been trying to research local people, they sent me a list of people in my general area who are listed in their directory. However, the website states that just because someone is listed on their directory it doesn't mean that the NAS endorses them (the diagnostician). I found someone close to me who uses DISCO (I was specifically looking for someone trained to use it as I know it's what LW uses for women) but for some reason I'm slightly panicking and wondering whether they're any good or not. I have no idea if anyone's used them, is there any way I can find out? I know they are definitely registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council, but I'm still a little wary.

Following as in a similar situation. I really can't afford Lorna Wing so will have to find a cheaper place.

I don't know if I'm being dense but can't you get it on the NHS? I got mine on the NHS, I had to wait about 12-18 months from start to finish I think, but I was already a young adult and I figured a year or two in the scheme of my whole life isn't really that much. I did look into going private but I didn't feel like I knew who to trust in the private sector and I was a uni student at the time and Student Finance prefer NHS diagnoses or so I had heard so I didn't want to risk getting a private one and then not having it accepted for Disabled Students' Allowances.

My private diagnosis was accepted for DSA.

Should update. I actually got a phone call much earlier than expected and got my positive diagnosis from Lorna Wing on the 20th November.
I don’t think the NHS is funding assessments in my area anymore, unfortunately.
