Could this be autism?

I have for some time, to relax myself, noticed that I rub my hands together vigorously, sort of 'shudder' (tense?) my whole body & grimace. I only do this in private (e.g. in the loo at work). I tried to google the behaviour and think it could fit with an activity called 'stimming'.

I am unsure whether I would fit as being autistic / aspergers as I don't have problems with communication, although am a loner / introverted and hate parties / social chit chat / doing presentations at work etc.

I am almost 50 and can't believe I have made it through life so far without any kind of diagnosis, but guess there are degrees and maybe I have a mild form / have been able to adjust.

I apologise in advance if this post sounds ignorant, but I am just hoping to get advice & opinions as this is all very new to me and until googling said behaviour (which I guess I have done for many years without even realising I was doing it) that the possibility that it might be related to autism or aspergers entered my consciousness.
