Newly diagnosed with adult ADHD. Any others out there? I have questions about medication.

After a process which began last summer I finally got a diagnosis of ADHD inattentive type. I'd suspected for about 8 years but symptoms seemed to be increasing over the past 2 years - pre-menopause? - and I decided I had to explore it officially. I'm in my early 40s with 2 dc and a DH who I am lucky hasn't divorced me years ago. Luckily he is all the things I am not.

After the diagnosis, I was still a bit shocked to have it confirmed and needed time to absorb the news. I've started Concerta 18mg, on which I feel positive effects with but I'm getting cold feet on increasing the dose.

My BP doesn't seem to increase on 18mg. Is that likely to be the same on a higher dose? Will I develop a tolerance to the settled dose and need to keep increasing it? I'm still not thrilled about the idea of taking medication every day. I certainly want to aim for the minimum dose which can give me a normal life.

If you take a extended release med, do you ever drink alcohol? Is it okay to have a drink once the 12 hours is over? Do you have medication breaks or do you take it 7 days per week, every week?

Hi Brytie
The neurodiversity thread on this board would be a great place to ask. In fact someone has asked a question about concerta at 16.49 today or thereabouts.
