That scene in 'The a Word' where Joe replays a lyric

I did that with my music up until I had children. Same with listening to music on headphones though I listened to musicals and movie soundtracks. Did anyone else do the same?

Hi there,I do this even now. I'm currently going through a classical music obsession as my eldest ds who has Aspergers plays violin and he adores music. Even if I'm in the car,I'll rewind a certain phrase ifygm. I didn't think anything of it till I saw the A word.

Me neither. It was just something I did. Never thought of it as a marker. I loved going for long walks with my headphones in.

I don't specifically replay a certain part but if there are certain parts I love I feel excitement building as a song goes on until the sweet part!

I do replay songs over and over (and over and over and over) if I love them. I've walked miles listening to the same song again and again. Bloody love it when I find something that is just Perfect.

When ds1 was little though he used to have times memorised on the dvd player for the specific parts of films and programmes he loved! I remember he used to call me over and tell me to watch this bit and mostly I couldn't work out what was so great!

I don't do this through choice but my brain replays the same bits of songs over and over and over at times. Even while I'm sleeping. Does my head in.

Mine too. I get one lyric stuck in my head on a loop.

Yes I've always done this. I only realised recently that it's part of the ASD. I also sing to myself when I'm stressed to self-soothe.

No. I'll listen to the same song again and again and again but I find it really jarring to have it stopped part-way through.

However, this is very true for me: I don't do this through choice but my brain replays the same bits of songs over and over and over at times. Even while I'm sleeping. Does my head in.

Also, sometimes I'll have a song stuck in my head and I can't manage to 'stop' it and think about something else until it gets to the end or end of a verse/chorus. Then, if I'm not quick enough to 'stop' it I have to wait until it's finished again/at the next break before I can move on to thinking about something else.

Not sure that makes sense now I've written it down. Hmm
