We at MNHQ would like to find out more about Mumsnet users' experiences when it comes to applying for primary school places. This survey is open to Mumsnet users in the UK who have children who are currently attending a state-sector community school, free school or academy and who are currently in the first three years of primary or are homeschooled but applied for a primary school place in the last three years.

To complete the survey, please click here.

All who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Done, but same as the Scottish poster upthread - it really isn't seen as a big deal in Wales like it is in England. People generally apply for the nearest school and get it, ime.

I would also like to add that I feel parents who make a ‘meaningful’ decision on what school they would like their child to attend should have priority rather than ‘we’ll take the closest because it’s the closest’

Since the benefit cap, So many families have moved more ‘north’ from London that it’s actually impossible to get a school place for many many people. ANY school place not just an ‘meaningfull’ one.
I think families who haven’t lived in a borough for more than 2-3 years shouldn’t have ‘prioroty’ based on distance alone. It’s unfair.

Done, although question 12 could do with a "none of the above" option.
