Homebase would like to find out what you and your DC like to do in the garden and how you encourage them to get outside.

This survey is open to all UK MNers with at least one child and should only take a few minutes to complete.

Please click here to take the survey.

Everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Homebase voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

I remember playing with a hula hoop for hours in the garden as a child.

firsttimemum15 · 13/06/2017 22:36

Good one

I got all excited as I now have a dc so can finally enter parent specific surveys.
Alas at 11 weeks my daughter is a little small to have favourite garden activities (watching tree branches wasn't an option) Grin.
Next time!

I wasn't sure exactly what kind of 'watering the garden ' was meant as my 2 year DS loves to add his very own contribution Grin

chocorabbit · 16/06/2017 12:50

I agree mostly ! Water guns are their favourite activity right now!

LotisBlue · 17/06/2017 21:21

Done! My dc would play outside all day if they could. Unfortunately our garden is tiny so we usually go to the park

NotCitrus · 19/06/2017 11:12

Could have done with a question Do you have a garden? How big?
Mine dont run or hide in the garden as it's too small, but love going down the road to the common.

Hi MNHQ. I have completed but pressed send before I had finished filling out my email address, my username is there though. Not sure if you can do anything about that?!

EmmaMumsnet · 19/06/2017 15:05

@chickensandbees no worries I have just checked and we have your answers and your MN nickname is enough for us to get in contact with you. Thanks for taking part Flowers

Done.... we make the most of our garden, especially now in summer

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 19/06/2017 17:40

I agree with @NotCitrus about needing a question about garden size.

I grew up with a lovely huge garden with lots of different bits to hide & play in, but we now have a tiny, steep almost unusable garden.

And also, all my memories are a mishmash of 20 years growing up with that garden. My eldest DC is 6. I don't know how much I was outside at 6?!

Not sure it's entirely valid.

Amarjit2008 · 19/06/2017 18:58

Entered. I literally limit the game console for the weekend only, so there's no choice but to go out.

My kids do play outside less than I used to, but that's because I grew up in a house with a massive garden and they have a small patch of gravel (which they love to dig with trucks!). We do go to the park more though! I just wanted to mention it as the survey seems to be leading towards the idea of children needing to be persuaded away from their consoles to play outside, but that isn't always the reason.
