We have been asked by Marie Stopes UK to ask for your opinions on the support women would need/ want if they were considering abortion.

This survey is open to all women in the UK, regardless of whether you have ever had an abortion or not.

You can complete the survey here.

All who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £300 voucher for the store of your choice (from a list).

NB: Abortion is a sensitive topic for some people and can arouse strong feelings. Some of these questions are necessarily detailed about abortion care.

It is not an appalling survey to have on mumsnet! Its an absolute disgrace all around the world that intelligent, rational, independent women do not have control of their own fertility and are shamed for their choices.

Or would you choose the route of back street illegal abortions where women take their chances, with no medical staff on hand and a high probability of death or infection. Where the foetus was scraped out with implements or swished out with kerosene through the uterus on a dirty table for cash? Or would you prefer that the child was born to parents who did not want it & in a lot of cases are unable to care for it physically or emotionally.

Many women choose to have children, many women choose not to & both choices are equally valid. Anything else is taking away womens choices & you tell me where the fuck that's a good thing.

Done. And there is surely no debate about how abortion relates to parenthood. Good grief. Hmm

Done. And totally agree with MidnightVelvetthe7th

Really don't understand how this couldn't be an appropriate survey to have on mn.

Done and I'm proud that it's on here. It's appalling that so many women around the world don't have the same choices as me.

Agree this is a very important survey to have in here.

This survey is appropriate, important, and relevant. We should, as a whole, feel bloody glad that we're being listened to.

Stormwhale · 22/11/2016 18:49

Done. This survey is wholly appropriate and I fully support the work done by Marie stopes.

roundandroundthehouses · 22/11/2016 19:37

Many thanks for the opportunity to fill in this survey. I hope the information gathered will be useful for women, and I also hope that one day it will be applied here in Northern Ireland.

MyKidsHaveTakenMySanity · 22/11/2016 19:48

Done. A very important issue that although I wish it wasn't needed, I'm glad it's there for those that do.

I firmly believe that women should have valid, safe, dignified choices.
I say that as someone who has needed ivf to conceive.

I'm proud of all the supporters here. A family member died as a direct result of a backstreet abortion. She left seven children.

We are very lucky we have the choice and facilities in this country. The disgrace is that it's not available to every woman.
