Done. We've recently moved from a really expensive part of the country to a much more reasonably priced area but its just taking time to save up.

Done. Rather timely as our landlord has just told us he wants to sell, and there's nothing within miles with more than two bedrooms (we have four young DC including a baby) of here. They're all settled into the hard to get into local school and everything :-(

We're currently waiting on the result of a 95% mortgage application but if we don't succeed we're screwed. Another year here and we could have got a 10% deposit together, but that's life.

Done but wanted to add we're trying to move and all two bed properties say no children so are currently in a one bed with a toddler.

done. as with chevron i couldn't answer that question. previously when i've 'owned' (ha ha) my repayments have been way cheaper than rent. it's not monthly income that is the issue.

I've tried (on mobile) but when I click the complete button nothing happens...

Another one saying it's not about monthly income btw, we ended up renting by moving into an area with ridiculous property prices and weren't able to get a mortgage based on affordability, only salary multiples. Our rent is more than double our previous mortgage, on the same take-home pay.

Our rent is also much higher than my previous mortgage, but house prices have pushed so high and I have no deposit to put down, so that's that. Mortgages are artificially low though, and I do wonder how much longer they can be kept like that- if they went up even a modest amount, so many people would be shafted (not counting the 1 in 5 in negative equity already). I don't like renting, the impermanence of it but I am not sure now is the right time to buy for us.
