We've been asked by BMI Healthcare to find out Mumsnetters opinons of women's health issues.

Here's what they say: "Women's gynaecological health can be complicated. The vast array of symptoms and conditions are not always easy to understand, nor are the treatment options easy to navigate or access. Often symptoms can point to a variety of different of conditions - and it's crucial women know what these are, what the serious signs are and what they can do about them. Gynaecological health isn't just about having children. It is important that women are armed with the correct information about their health - from puberty to menopause and all the different stages in between."

This survey is open to all female UK Mumsnetters aged 25-54 years. Please note, the results to the survey may be used in media activity, on the BMI Healthcare website and in social media, all data will be kept confidential.

I'd love to know the answers to the question about number of women experiencing problems.

I found one of the questions a bit bizarre in that the previous Q had asked where I had sought advice then the next Q asked what would prompt me to seek advice. Having already said that I had sought advice, why was I being asked what would prompt me?

But, done anyway!

The NHS would be bankrupt in a week if every woman with a gynaecological problem saw a gynaecologist.

I think gp's should have more training on gynae issues, I saw my old gp several times over the course of 7 years about my horrific periods and he repeatedly told me it was normal or to try the pill because it was just a hormone imbalance (every pill I tried made it worse)

It took moving house and a new gp who actually listened and said no that's not normal for me to start receiving treatment, yes I was referred to a gynecologist but if my first gp had been more knowledgeable then I could have been treated sooner instead of enduring 8 years of agony.

Yes I could have pushed for a gynecologist referral but he was my doctor and in every other way a good gp so I trusted him.

The RCGP have been trying to extend training for years to fit in all the things that they need more training in, but extending training costs money which the NHS doesn't have at the moment.
