We have been asked by Huggies® to find out your views on and experiences with your newborn baby's umbilical cord.

Huggies® has launched a new feature on its Newborn size one nappies which will help parents to care for their little one's umbilical cord. Midwifery expert Nikki Khan says: "Cord care is often a surprise to new mums and something they perhaps had not considered until the arrival of their baby. Huggies® has launched a great innovation - it is such a simple change but will make a huge difference for new mums."

Huggies® would like to how know you coped with the cord, what advice you were given on caring for it, and any issues which arose.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. It is open to all Mumsnetters in the UK who have had a baby in the last three years.

Everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will receive a £250 John Lewis voucher.

If you have had more than one baby, please think about your most recent baby when completing the survey, as Huggies® want to hear about your most recent experiences.

Thanks and good luck.

Done :)

DS was a massive baby and the MW was very excited about the cord/placenta. It was 'exemplary' apparently Hmm she said it was a shame no students were around to see it.

Also done. I neeeeeeed that JL voucher Grin

The question about 'were you surprised how fragile it seemed' made me laugh somewhat. I was more surprised at how tough and gnarly it looked, like a piece of electrical flex.

Arf Fuzzpig, that's one for his CV! :o

Well, I filled it out but not sure it counts as my son's cord was cut off by SCBU staff so they could put a line in his belly button. Which I said in the survey.

Feel free to disqualify me....although I could really use the vouchers. [hgrin]

TyMinisterForMagic · 15/07/2011 11:55

Done, can I have the vouchers now? [hgrin]

AnnMumsnet · 15/07/2011 12:21

Tee2072 - that's fine and partly why we left an open box as well. All experiences count Smile

Done. Please let me win - fridge is on it's last legs!!!

craftynclothy · 15/07/2011 13:59

I left Q6 blank cos it didn't apply to me. We didn't cut the cord and therefore didn't have a clamp Wink

thestringpeople · 15/07/2011 14:00

Have completed the survey.

Is a specific product really required?

We were told to leave the cord alone until the clamp was removed and then we just cleaned it as part of the normal washing routine. I never really gave it a thought. I didn't feel that a specific product was needed with either of my babies.

Meglet · 15/07/2011 14:31

done.

EvianBaby · 15/07/2011 14:33

Done - fingers crossed...

NerfHerder · 15/07/2011 14:41

Why do they want to know if you kept the clamp? Confused
There are no questions about how you felt about the cord (i.e. squeamishness)

VelvetSnow · 15/07/2011 14:50

Done.

Bellethebelltent · 15/07/2011 14:50
