Mumsnet have been asked by The Co-operative to find out your views on their business, as well as some themes around shopping in general, and attitudes towards ethics.

The Co-operative will be interacting with the Mumsnet community in the coming months, and they are initially interested in what Mumsnetters already feel about The Co-operative and any associations you already have with it.

Therefore, we would ask you to take 5 minutes to complete the survey. Please be assured that this short survey is anonymous and at no point will The Co-operative try to sell you anything.

The survey is open to all Mumsnetters in the UK.
Everyone who completes the survey and adds their details at the end will be entered into a prize draw. The Co-operative is offering one winner £500 in vouchers from a store of their choice.

Thanks and good luck.

No box for comments and I not you say they will read this thread so posting here hoping they will read...

I wanted to comment that my local store has stopped stocking several organic/vegi products lately and put in a whole bunch of other stuff (most of which I wouldn't want. They've even included an organic pasta sauce from Italy but got rid of the Meridian UK pasta sauce even though they still have other meridian products..!?

When I asked the staff to get back certain items (which they did last time this happened) they said it's out of their hands, they have asked head office but have been told no, even though some of the removed lines are best sellers as I was told.

If they won't listen to their own staff what hope do us customers have!? I have resorted to getting my stuff online instead from places like ethical superstore and have less need to go to the co-op now as I can't get the stuff there I used to specifically go for.

Also wanted to add that although I try to buy ethical/green it has to be of a quality and price that I can afford too. Couldn't tick two boxes in that section so I picked the price/quality one as ultimately that's what it comes down too. But I do try and choose organic/fairtrade if I can afford it.

I have done it, our local Co-op was a Kwik-Save, then Somerfield, now Co-op. Great improvement.
:)

I can't seem to get into the survey, will try again tomorrow, but meanwhile can you please tell them to stop displaying the Daily Sport, which 80% of the time seems to have a porn picture on the front, at toddler eye level?

AnnMumsnet · 24/10/2010 23:21

herbeautiful..I think survey monkey was down...seems to be ok now - thanks

HerBeatitude - you beat me to it!

According to the front page campaign website the co-op is the only large supermarket chain stocking The Sport.

Given the ethical stance of your company how on earth can you justify exposing children to those images?

This is something which MNers are very concerned about - threads here and here.

My local independent garage now covers The Sport with a large piece of white paper saying "The Sport".

Tabouleh- that is interesting. I had to complain at my local store recently as The Sport was above the children's (Crayola) pens and crayons. There was a naked Charlotte Church on the cover. The girl removed it at once but I did find myself thinking WWMT (what would mumsnet think).

It did not ask me if I was male or female though, not sure if that matters. I am female in case you need to know.

Oh PS
"Ilkeston co-op travel's going to get you there."

tabouleh · 25/10/2010 14:23

mummyofexcitedprincess - well done for complaining and getting it moved - but Sad that it was there!

Co-op people watching this thread - please have a look at that review as well. The case for reversing the sexualisation of young people is complelling and the implications for not doing so are wide-reaching. Shock

laughalot · 25/10/2010 15:10

ilkeston co-op travel is going to get you there but is being taken over by thomas cook so no longer a independant and not very ethical lol
