Calling everyone who won a ticket to the Motherhood screening: what did you think?

Hello.

We recently gave away 35 pairs of tickets to a special screening of Motherhood starring Uma Thurman, Minnie Driver and Anthony Edwards (you know, Dr Mark Greene from ER).

The screening was last night (2 March).

So, if you won tickets, did you go? And what was the film like?

I thought the film was pretty funny and witty but towards the end i changed opinion when it was apparent that in fact the film was about a sahm who wasn't satisfied with just being a mum. A bit tacky to be honest sorry

I had a fab evening though, went to china town for dinner, pre drinks at the screening venue then out for cocktails after

I liked it- it was showing what motherhood is really like and not what we all imagine it to be. The film is very suited to MNers because it showed all the boring day to day problems we face, and talk about on MN!!

It's worth watching because for me I felt that it was so refreshing to watch a film about motherhood that I could relate to.

Yes the main character felt bored and unchallenged as a SAHM, but tbh that's how I feel too.

I can't believe 35 pairs of tickets were given away - there couldn't have been more than 10 couples there last night!

I thought it was quite funny and I could certainly relate to most some of it. Even DH thought it was amusing.
I can't quite see it becoming a blockbuster though... who really goes to the cinema to watch their own life? I enjoy a bit of escapism when I watch a film.
Thanks for the tickets Mumsnet, we had a lovely evening out... even though we did spend a small fortune on the rail tickets!

I enjoyed it. I could relate to a lot of it but can't see it appealing to anyone who hasn't been in that situation. The ending was a bit cheesy too, but they always are in this type of film.
DP enjoyed it too - he said it made him think about all the things I do and how he should help out more - RESULT!!!!
It was a great night out, although I drunk a bit too much wine and felt quite rough yesterday

I really enjoyed the film, it was entertaining and made me laugh and I would recommend all Mums to go and see it. If I hadn't won tickets I probably would not have seen it as I thought it would be a bit mom-com and thats not the type of film I usually go for. However, it surprised me and it had moments that many many Mums could relate to and find the humour in the times where you feel your life is an endless cycle of washing up etc. Go and see.

It was an enjoyable evening and the film was amusing and relatable in places.
I particularly laughed at the crafty cigarette smoking away from her daughters eyes as that used to be me

Lets face it though it wasn't much about her 'taking care' of the children just how having children had impeded the things she wanted to do. She had for more help than I do with her hubbie coming home in the middle of the day and her friend picking her daughter up from school.
She even had time out from her daughters party for finishing her writing

Interested to know why the company wanted opinion on the film so close to its general release?
