We’re looking for 50 Mumsnet users considering switching their energy provider who would be interested in testing the new E.ON Next service, with 100% renewable electricity.

Here’s what E.ON Next has to say: “E.ON Next is the freshest new face of E.ON. What’s new? We want to make climate change action a bit more enjoyable, so we provide 100% renewables-backed electricity as standard and a personal service - each customer is looked after by a team of dedicated Energy Specialists. Cheerful energy starts here, find out more about us here.

A very welcome move to a new company

Selected testers will need to switch their provider to E.ON Next in March and then give their feedback on their experience via a thread on Mumsnet, as well as completing a short survey. All selected testers who switch will receive £100 energy credit from E.ON Next, on top of £80 energy credit offered to all new customers.

All testers who give the required feedback will also be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

If you’d like to take part, please sign up here.

Thanks

Eon hounded me to get a smart meter. I declined several times and they then gave my details to a smart meter firm who contacted me to install them.
I complained to eon Who didn’t care they had given my details to another company without consent. They lied and said I had to get a smart meter and saying I didn’t want one wasn’t a valid excuse.

Final straw was when they tried to increase my direct debit from £120 to £190.
My tariff hadn’t changed but they claimed I owed them money. I sent a photo of the meters and readings.
The reply from the call centre was ‘as you have already been told you owe the company money and after using readings you are £1.23 in debit therefore the direct debit must go up to £190’. I owed one pound 23 pence ! and it was the day before the direct debit came out.
I switched to another company who used my actual yearly usage and I’m paying £110 a month and I’m in credit. They don’t hassle me about a smart meter either !

I’m only considering changing suppliers because I’m with Eon!!

Honeyroar · 14/02/2021 14:31

@8misskitty8 who did you switch to?

Powerplant · 16/02/2021 09:21

We’ve just moved into a property supplied by Eon Next and I have contacted them re setting up DD! Don’t think I’ll bother after reading these awful experiences. I just thought it would be easier than carrying on with EDF at my previous property due to all the change of addresses etc re house move. I’ll take a look at Bulb.

Your company has given me plenty of shops to try. I have spent the last 3 days going around shops in my area and had no luck! I’ve lost 2 days work with no pay, because of you! I can’t even cook food for my children!! Disgusting

You are wise to swap - they are absolute sh!t, they really are.

I'm really glad I've seen this thread. I'm with Powershop (who've been great) but they are transferring customers over to E.on Next. I'll definitely be looking for alternatives now . Bulb is sounding promising.

We've just had a forced migration to eon from npower. We've already had a shitty letter threatening debt collection charges for one slightly late payment (post here was delayed as most of our sorting office was ill/isolating due to COVID). Utter dicks. We've never missed a utility payment and have near perfect credit scores.

(And the only reason we don't have a direct debit set up for that account is that npower fucked up setting it three times so we eventually gave up and just pay the bills now. Npower are utter dicks too.)

SavannahLands · 18/03/2021 23:44

I left E-on Last year after too many Billing mistakes and trying to charge me £100 to get my meter checked when l complained about my sudden price hike during the summer months when my consumption was very low, No Gas used during summer months, and only minimum Electricity due to being away from home at the time. They took the Meter test money from.my account without any prior warning.

I got chosen to do this product test. I emailed Mumsnet HQ (on the email address given as part of the product test) on Wednesday last week to say that the £80 advertised discount wasn’t being applied and they were only offering £40 discount, please could Mumsnet advise. No one has got back to me, and having read the reviews on this thread so far, I feel it’s best for me to withdraw from the test, thanks. I’ve got too much on my plate at the moment to risk switching to a company with the given reviews.
