We’re looking for 50 Mumsnet users considering switching their energy provider who would be interested in testing the new E.ON Next service, with 100% renewable electricity.

Here’s what E.ON Next has to say: “E.ON Next is the freshest new face of E.ON. What’s new? We want to make climate change action a bit more enjoyable, so we provide 100% renewables-backed electricity as standard and a personal service - each customer is looked after by a team of dedicated Energy Specialists. Cheerful energy starts here, find out more about us here.

A very welcome move to a new company

Selected testers will need to switch their provider to E.ON Next in March and then give their feedback on their experience via a thread on Mumsnet, as well as completing a short survey. All selected testers who switch will receive £100 energy credit from E.ON Next, on top of £80 energy credit offered to all new customers.

All testers who give the required feedback will also be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

If you’d like to take part, please sign up here.

Thanks

Is leaving a person with a disabled child unable to put gas on in there property something you have always done or is it a new business model you have come up with? Thankfully I left you years ago but ny partner unfortunately didnt so after trying to tell her she was spending nearly £300 a month on gas and electric in a 3 bedroom bungalow you forced her to go on to a prepay meter but forgot to give her the card for gas. Promised her a card would be here today and no card.
You give her £8 emergency credit which going by what you say she is spending that will last a day at most, so how is she supposed to heat her bungalow, feed her kids etc? I have seen some poor customer service in my time but this has to be very very high up there. This child has a need for oxygen and 24 hour care. You are now also going to leave him cold.

sanityisamyth · 08/02/2021 21:24

I've been moved from Npower to eon next. Not liking that there's no app. I really liked the timeline feature on the Npower app. I now feel like I have no idea what my next bill is likely to be, or when it is due.

earsup · 08/02/2021 22:11

One of the worst companies for customer service and high charges er unit etc....maybe if they offered free energy for 5 years i would sign up !!

SylviasMotherSaid · 09/02/2021 12:56

My DP is on furlough we owe them £145 which is due to be paid when I get paid yet they insist on sending threatening letters and texts they are a terrible company

MercyBooth · 10/02/2021 00:37

Taken from their fb page. Obvs EONs idea of #protecttheNHS

Absolutely nasty company...still waiting for a call and 7 days later nothing and now no electricity again...what on earth kind of service are u running...I'm on home oxygen and suffer from chronic suicidal headaches and this is how u treat people... someone needs to sort this out before I take this further today

ShowMeTheWayToAmarillo · 10/02/2021 08:00

I am not sure anyone would sign up to this without understanding the tariff applied?

This company think its acceptable to leave a disabled gentleman 7 hours (upto now) with no heating or hot water in -2 temperatures due to them not sending the payment card when was meant to. Meter locked out with credit on and needs card to activate. Then expect him to go and collect a card despite telling the call handler multiple times that he is shielding and cant go anywhere. Absolute disgrace!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/02/2021 18:56

We had no end of difficulties with Eon.

They were horrendous to deal with.

no thanks.

BarbaraofSeville · 11/02/2021 09:03

No thanks, E.on, along with NPower, are on my 'will never use unless they're the last supplier in existence' list due to endless badgering to have a smart meter when I don't want one, see no need for one as I don't need a device to tell me what uses the most power and switching things off when they're not in use saves money and we have insufficient signal in our house to run one anyway.

countydown · 12/02/2021 03:36

Would rather not. I went away for a week (pre covid), I came home to rotting food in my fridge/freezer and the smell almost killed me. I was very confused because I had put £40 on my metre before I left, and already had £15 on it, I wanted to make sure It would last. they tried to tell me I had ran out of credit yet my app/online account was showing a £55 balance. They switched my electricity off and tried to blame me.

Left them the same day I got back.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 12/02/2021 09:30

Awful, awful company and terrible customer service.

I also had to take E.ON to the Ombudsman. And I won.

misskick · 12/02/2021 14:13

E on are horrendous When I switched to a smart meter it would never allow me too top it up, the amount of times I had to sit with no electric is unreal.

DimplesToadfoot · 12/02/2021 19:43

I've been moved onto these after they took over from my supplier, my bill has more than doubled :-( the more I've tried to reduce my usage, the more it's gone up, as soon as I can get out of this contact I didn't sign up for I'll be changing supplier... my advice.. don't do it

psychomath · 13/02/2021 00:57

@LadyFuchsiaGroan I'm with Bulb and haven't had any issues at all. No idea how they compare to others price-wise though.

Terrysmyorange · 13/02/2021 09:47

I've had nothing but problems since joining them in October. Taking double payments, cancelling direct debits, huge bills. I'm honestly debating paying the £60 exit fees and cancelling early.

Avoid at all costs.

Readthestandingorder · 13/02/2021 21:03

Eon are massive bullies. Having received the transcripts of my phone calls that showed I was bullied into allowing them to close my complaint, I'm deciding what to do with them. I would never, ever use the company again.

HarrietSchulenberg · 13/02/2021 23:28

Having been an eon customer before, I wouldn't go near them again with a 10ft barge pole. I had to leave to get back money they owed me from when they took the same DD amount twice.
Sorry, eon, but your ad money really isn't going to give you the favourable exposure that you want.

midsummabreak · 13/02/2021 23:54

Apparently consumers have increased choice offered by private companies after the oh so wonderful privatisation of electricity.

But none of those choices offer inexpensive electricity.

MercyBooth · 14/02/2021 00:18

Or a guaranteed supply of it!!!!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 14/02/2021 07:55

I've been automatically moved over to eon next as a npower customer and already hate it.

Weird website- cheap and awkward to manoeuvre. Over charged me last month and this month have only billed my gas, not my electric. Bizarre.

I'm moving to bulb energy on March 6th. 😂

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 14/02/2021 07:56

@Terrysmyorange Bulb Energy will pay your exit fees if you join them. They're consistently the cheapest and come out well for customer service.

Not sure this thread has gone the way Eon imagined tbh. 😂

Terrysmyorange · 14/02/2021 10:36

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa that's really handy to know about Bulb. Makes life a little easier. What a nightmare. Hope Eon see all this feedback Grin

sanityisamyth · 14/02/2021 11:14

Totally agree with all of this. The website is really bad. I hate not having an app to check on my monthly usage. I will look into switching to Bulb too.

seepingweeping · 14/02/2021 13:25

God avoid eon at all costs.

They chased me for money I didn't owe for a commercial property. I had ended my lease 8 months before. They claimed I owed them around £4500 which I didn't because I wasn't in the shop on the dates given on the invoice - It really affected my credit rating. It didn't matter how much proof I had (including a last bill from them that was paid) they kept sending bills for years that I wasn't in the shop but kept trying to hound me for it anyway. It took years to sort out.

Fucking nightmare of a company. Avoid.
