We’re looking for 600 Mumsnet users with at least one child interested in testing Homepride Slow Cooker concentrated sauces. The sauces are available in Chilli Con Carne, Chicken Curry, Beef & Ale or Pulled Pork flavours and selected testers will be sent a coupon to purchase them in their preferred supermarket.

Here’s what Homepride has to say: “Homepride Slow Cooker Sauces are the 1st concentrated sauces for slow cooking. Ready in 3 easy steps, our sauces have been carefully blended to create perfect slow-cooked meals every time!”

Selected testers will receive a coupon to purchase two variants of Homepride Slow Cooker sauce in store. The products are available in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda stores and testers will need to try to pick them up when doing their grocery shop. Please note that the coupons will not work online.

Following testing the product with their family, selected testers will need to give their feedback via a thread on Mumsnet and a short survey.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Applicants via this thread will be selected randomly if we receive more than 600 eligible applications.

Thanks and good luck!

You do need to trim all the fat off the pork shoulder first so there's less fat. We had it last week and it was lovely. Having the beef in ale one today with mustard & herb dumplings. The house smells gorgeous already.

Thank you. I am going to give it another go!
Hopefully I can get it perfect before giving feedback!

We had the pulled pork one yesterday and it was lovely- I wasn't as impressed with the curry one last week. I think it will be ok with a few tweaks though so will probably give it another try.

Thesearmsofmine · 31/01/2021 14:42

@anothernamereally can I ask what tweaks you might do to the chicken curry? I’m trying it this week! I was going to add some sweet potato and maybe some natural yogurt or coconut milk depending on how spicy it is.

anothernamereally · 31/01/2021 15:47

It's not spicy at all really- my young dc were fine eating it.
Next time I'm going to add some mushrooms and green veg, either peas or beans probably, I'm not sure Blush it was just a little bland

SingleHandSue · 31/01/2021 15:54

We tried the curry one and the beef and ale.

Both of them were really tasteless! I have no idea where I went wrong, if at all.

The curry smelt amazing and we were all really looking forward to it, however it was very runny and just tasted like chicken in a watered down tomato sauce.

The beef and ale one was also very bland.

The only thing I will say is DH took portions of both to work with him the next day and heated them up. He says they were both much better the next day.

The beef in ale one was nice, but hardly any sauce left - and I cooked it as per the instructions. The beef fell apart and it was tasty, just couldn't mop it up with crusty bread at the end Grin.
