Love baking for my 6 grandkids we would love this much quicker

PomDeNlume · 11/03/2019 08:51

Has anyone used a recipe designed for a conventional oven? I’m hoping to make some brownies but can’t use any nuts

picklemepopcorn · 11/03/2019 12:55

Well, the lemon drizzle is a conventional victoria sandwich mix.

Jaderice21 · 12/03/2019 12:31

wow look and sounds fabtatic we love baking at the weekend this would me it mess free

picklemepopcorn · 12/03/2019 12:55

Anyone tried Yorkshire puds? I think I will tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.

Rockbird · 12/03/2019 14:23

Ooh good idea. I'm trying to decide what to bake later.

Myusernameismud · 12/03/2019 15:58

I just made some brownies which are my usual recipe. I haven't quite managed to get the timing right. I'd normally put them in at 180 for 25 mins, but 180 on manual in the cake factory and 35 mins later, they still weren't cooked through. I mean, they still tasted great, just a bit messy and gooey. I'll try 30 mins at 200 next time.
DH is a senior manager and his team are all young men in their 20s with massive appetites. The cake factory has made him extra popular, and I keep getting lots of really honest feedback/requests for more. I even got a note on Friday saying 'Mrs Myusername will you be my mum please?' Grin

picklemepopcorn · 12/03/2019 16:00

I did a sharing cake programme yesterday, and needed to up the time a bit as it wasn't ready. Easy to do, though.

Myusernameismud · 12/03/2019 16:17

Oh I agree, it's easy enough to do, I just haven't quite worked out how to convert oven times/temps to the machine, because it doesn't seem to be the same.

jamoncrumpets · 12/03/2019 16:18

My machine has stopped working! Not heating up at all and keep getting E005 error popping up!

jamoncrumpets · 12/03/2019 16:19

See?!

Have you turned it off at the plug?

jamoncrumpets · 12/03/2019 16:24

Yes, turned it off, waited, then on again.

jamoncrumpets · 12/03/2019 16:33

DS now wailing 'it's brooooooken'. I just pointed to the oven and said 'no, we can use that!'

picklemepopcorn · 12/03/2019 17:21

That's disappointing!

My yorkies are looking promising!

Manual, hot as poss, took a little longer than usual, but still worth doing.

Tried the condensed milk cake today. Did not come out well. Cooked it a bit longer as I wasn't convinced it was done after the recipe set cooking time and it really wasn't even after that time. Shrunk to half the height and inside doesn't look cooked.
Was on a manual cook setting and I swear that the manual programme is not good.
Meringues come out really well though!

picklemepopcorn · 17/03/2019 16:52

Don't think I'd fancy it for meringues, somehow. Flapjack worked well, and tipped out of the tin very well, too.

Does anyone use the little metal rack for anything?

Myusernameismud · 17/03/2019 17:08

Only for cooling pickleme its the right size for 6 little muffins or loaf cakes!

Has anyone had the link to the feedback thread yet? Last email I had said it was being sent out in the week.

chilledteacher · 17/03/2019 17:40

We were a bit slow off the mark thanks to DS1 and 3 having every bug under the sun for the past fortnight. Just made the Raspberry loaf cakes, they seem a bit anaemic. Hope they taste ok.

Demolished!

CatkinToadflax · 17/03/2019 19:12

Just started using ours this weekend as we've been away.

The baked vanilla cheesecake is absolutely delicious, though it needed an extra 10 mins of cooking time.

The condensed milk cake came out very well after the stated cooking time (interesting that yours didn't, Hobby - ours was beautifully risen) and tastes nice if a little dry. I added cinnamon and orange zest instead of nutmeg. Think I might chuck in some marmalade next time and turn it into a pudding.

We've also done the giant cookie, which DS thinks is amazing but is a little sweet and dry tasting for me (though obviously cookies are always going to be dry).

So far so good!

Myusernameismud · 17/03/2019 19:21

We loved the giant cookie, sliced it into fingers and dunked in milk! I didn't have any choc so chucked m&ms in mine and it was brilliant. Bizarrely, I thought ours was a little on the salty side, although I'll admit to using salted butter in everything so that might be why!

Just out of interest, is everyone using proper butter in theirs, or marge? I tend to use butter all the time, but it's so expensive and I was tempted by the massive tub of stork that was on offer, but didn't risk it because the recipes quite clearly say to use butter.

AHobbyaweek · 18/03/2019 20:35

Yes it is odd. I get good results on the automatic settings just not on the manual.

Nicki0505 · 10/04/2019 19:07

Yes pls x
