FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I requested a King Size, medium mattress and it arrived by UPS - I was sent a text to say when it would arrive and it was very accurate. I was surprised that it turned up in a box but managed to get it out and unwrap it without any issues (although it was pretty heavy!) and get it into position on my bed frame. It came with an instruction leaflet and although it said you needed to unroll and leave it for 48 hours to reach full expansion, I was unable to do so as I had to sleep on it that night, so it probably only had 10 hours.

It felt a little soft to begin with on the first night but by the second night, it was fully formed and looked and felt brilliant! It had just the right firmness for my liking - not too soft but not too hard - and made me realise how uncomfortable my old pocket sprung mattress had become! The top layer is memory foam and it felt like I was laying down on a giant marshmallow Grin being supported in all the right places. But the best feature of all is that when my husband got into bed, I barely noticed as the mattress didn't move or bounce, where the old one did, so I had a very peaceful night's sleep Wink.

What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress? Also, please share any photos you took of your new mattress.
I am testing a double mattress and I wanted medium.
Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve?
I'm not aware there was a choice of delivery! I got an email in the middle of the day to say the mattress would be arriving that day - needless to say this flustered me a bit because I was at work. Fortunately my DD was home to field the delivery. We're used to this kind of thing so it was OK.
What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress?
The box was terrible. It fell apart as soon as we started moving it up the stairs and in the end we didn't bother with it. The plastic it was rolled up in was the opposite - so strong it was difficult to remove. However, there was lots of it and it will come in handy as plastic sheeting when we redecorate the living room I am not joking about this. We got the mattress out in the end, but some language was used.
Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it?
I'm actually not bothered. The mattress had about 18 hours to settle and the cover stopped looking wrinkled after about 4.
Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm?
Initially it felt really firm, but after the first 20 minutes it started to give and feel really comfortable.
Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights?
Yes, it adapted to my weight faster and it also sprang back faster after I got up. Apart from that I can honestly say it has been amazing. I no longer wake up at all during the night and that is a new thing for me. I'm still stiff in the morning because of my age, but my hip pain has settled down massively.

*First Impressions:

  • What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress? Also, please share any photos you took of your new mattress.*

Hello! Testing a double medium mattress.

- Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve?

Dreams Delivery Fleet, they were fantastic actually. Polite, punctual, great at comms, friendly, efficient.

*- What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress?

  • Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it?*

It was packed well for easy delivery, and the delivery guys rolled it out straight away (and disposed of old mattress). It settled into place within a few hours. Slept on it that night!

- Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm?

Felt pretty firm which was good, although initially a bit too firm.

- Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights?

After a few nights it was definitely softer, and springier and adapts to your body weight. It is categorically the comfiest bed in the house now Smile. We are fighting to sleep in it even though it's in the spare room!

*First Impressions:

  • What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress? Also, please share any photos you took of your new mattress.*

We’re testing a double mattress medium softness.

  • Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve?

I wasn’t given a choice just had an email sayin the date. I had to change the times and the service from Hyde & Sleep was really helpful and efficient when I contacted them. The mattress was delivered by Dreams - very friendly guys, happily dragged the box up three flights of stairs for me!

*- What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress?

  • Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it?*

I was fine with it being boxed, much easy for the delivery team to get it up to the top floor. I left the mattress about 14 hours before sleeping on it.

  • Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm?

My first impression was that it would be too soft, much more give in it than I’m used to and I wondered whether I’d be able to sleep on it.

  • Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights?

As I’ve got used to it I’ve decided that I love it! Completely changed my mind from the first night. It is soft on top but with a firm core sonit kind of cradles you and supports you at the same time. I’m now considering buying one for DS in an attempt to get him to sleep better!

  • Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress?
  • How would you describe the quality of the mattress?

Well, I received my mattress on the 13th of June and I've done 30 days + (had 2 nights away in a hotel bed and that was not good) Grin. So here's my 30 day verdict:

If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores)
I would probably buy it in store - I've bought all our mattresses in store so far. however, the quality of this one has made me see there are other options.
- How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?
About £600 - it definitely feels more expensive than previous mattresses.
- Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why?
Yes, I would. I'd recommend they try in person though, because mattresses are such an individual thing. But the quality and comfort of mine mean I would definitely recommend.
- Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress?
The mattress has definitely improved the quality of my sleep. I am less stiff in the morning even if I've had a lie in, and my hip pain has just gone. The only thing I'd say is that in warm weather it is warmer than my previous mattress, but that can be resolved with changing to lighter weight bedding and using a fan on days like today when it's 30C. The level of support of the mattress is just amazing - I can feel it give to the side of my foot, which my previous mattress definitely did not do. It gets StarStarStarStarStar from me.

  1. West are testing a 'firm' kingsize mattress.
  2. I didn't have any delivery options, I hadn't received any email or text message to warn me about delivery date or time. My mattress was left at my back door! I'm just glad it wasn't raining!.
  3. I prefer mattresses that AREN'T boxed as we like firm mattresses but these just aren't firm enough. I left the mattress for ten hours approximately before sleeping on it, to leave it any longer just wasn't practical.
  4. My first impressions of the mattress were that it was far too soft and I was correct. When you sat on the side of the bed, the mattress squashed right down so I was just about Sat on the slats of the bed!.
  5. No I didn't notice any change in the mattress over the nights that I have been sleeping on it. My husband and I both agree that the further into the middle of the bed, the better the mattress is. I constantly feel like I'm going to roll out of bed because you can literally squeeze the mattress in your hands around the edges because it's that soft.
  6. I certainly wouldn't be prepared to pay nearly £700 for this mattress.
  7. unfortunately no I wouldn't recommend this mattress to anybody and I'm gutted that it hasn't helped with my quality of sleep.

First Impressions
What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress? Also, please share any photos you took of your new mattress.

I'm testing a medium king size mattress.

Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve?

I wasn't given a choice but my mattress was delivered by Dreams and they helpfully carried it upstairs for me. The only thing I'd change is for them to offer to take away my old mattress so I didn't have to arrange that separately.

What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress?

I didn't realise the mattress would be delivered in a box so I thought there had been a mistake at first and I'd been sent a duvet to test instead Grin

Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it?

I was a bit sceptical about a rolled and folded mattress, but it was fairly easy to unpack and put onto the bed (I did it on my own) and by bedtime a few hours later it had completely flattened out and seemed ready to sleep on.

Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm?

I chose a medium mattress as I wanted to have something softer than our previous orthopaedic mattress which wed always found too hard. However I was a bit disappointed that this mattress also felt quite firm. Looking on the H&S website, it seems the mattress we have with the pinky red label is actually described as firm (the three options are medium/firm/very firm rather than soft/medium/firm) so I think if I'd looked at the website to begin with I may have chosen a softer one.

Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights?

No, I can't say I noticed a difference.

What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress?

We are testing a king size firm mattress, the previous one had been in situ for years and years so we were delighted to have the chance to refresh and start again.

Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve?

I chose the Dreams Delivery Fleet option and the delivery experience was first class. I had great comms via text about the delivery, I had to postpone it initially due to being on holiday but it was no problem. I needed this option as I was having the old mattress collected too. I was sent a huge green plastic cover for the old mattress in advance of collection and taped this up in accordance with the instructions given. The delivery men were very timely, respectful and helpful. They removed the old mattress without any bother and no damage to walls or doors in our smallish hallway and landing and stairs. I was impressed with them.

What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress?

Having a mattress delivered in a box seems a peculiar way to do things but it worked! The box was delivered to the bedroom and I unpacked it with some help and got it onto the bed without too much huffing and puffing.

Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it?

I've no strong feelings either way about whether the mattress should arrive rolled or unrolled. It might perhaps be helpful to be asked if you'd like help to unpack from the box. The larger the mattress size the more tussling you have to do and in a smallish bedroom with other stuff in the way it can get a little bit hairy. This was left about 12 hours before sleeping on it, I kept the windows open as per the delivery mens' instructions about getting rid of the fumes of the fire retardant gasses.

Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm?

Loved this new mattress, yes it felt firm and it was very comfortable indeed. It was warm although it's been a very warm spell all round so I've felt warm every night for weeks.

Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights?

The mattress has continued to feel very supportive and comfortable, we're thrilled with it.

Final feedback:
Having slept on my new mattress for 30+ days now, I can say that overall, I get a very comfortable sleep and compared to my old mattress, they are worlds apart. When I get into bed now, I am supported in whichever position I choose and can honestly say I have not had any sleepless nights due to discomfort, whereas before I was rolling towards the outer edge because the old mattress had formed a rift in the middle! The only thing I'd change is that it is just a little too deep for my fitted sheets and because the mattress is quite soft in the corners, they tend to come off and you end up with a bit of a sheet issue. I may have to invest in some new linen!

It appears to be a very high quality mattress and I would choose to buy in store because I would want to try it out for comfort before buying, if I were given the choice.

Based on recent advertising for this type of mattress, I would estimate that it should cost between £500 - £700.

I would definitely recommend this mattress to a friend or family member as I have found it to be great quality and very comfortable.

honeyharris · 17/08/2018 18:28

What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress? Also, please share any photos you took of your new mattress.
I am testing a King Size mattress and selected a firm one. I'm afraid I forgot to take a photo but our room is teenager's room messy and I would have had to do a fair amount of tidying first.

  • Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve?
I wasn’t aware of being able to choose a delivery option but ended up with Dreams Delivery Fleet. It was probably the best delivery experience I’ve ever had. They contacted me the previous week to tell me the delivery day, the day beforehand with a delivery slot and then even rang me on the morning to confirm. They arrived on the dot of 3pm (the beginning of the slot) and the delivery man was polite, lovely with my son who was very excited about the lorry, brought the mattress through to the kitchen and took the cardboard packaging away.
  • What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress?
The packaging was fine, kept it rolled up tightly and it could be balanced on the end.
  • Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it?
I preferred it rolled as it was easier to store and meant that we didn’t have to use it until we had assembled our new King size bed. We left it for 2 days as we were getting a new bed frame.
  • Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm?
It felt firmer and sturdier than I am used to. I was aware of waking a couple of times when I had to turn over.
  • Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights?
It became more comfortable as the days went on. I couldn’t feel the movement of springs and it hardly moved when my husband came up to bed later than me, usually he wakes me as he gets into bed.

First Impressions:

  • What size mattress are you testing and did you select that you wanted a soft, medium, or firm mattress? Also, please share any photos you took of your new mattress. I have been given a king size 'very firm'. to test. From the options above I would have asked for a firm.
  • Which delivery option did you choose (UPS or Dreams Delivery Fleet) and how was your delivery experience? Is there anything you’d change/improve? I can't remember which I chose and I don't know who cam. I was told on 1st June that I had been selected to test a mattress and was surprised when I was told by mumsnet that my delivery date was not until 6th August. This wasn't really convenient as I was away but rather than trying to change it, and wait longer, I arranged for a family member to take delivery of it. The delivery men left it in the hallway but offered to take it elsewhere, which we would have taken up had we been here. It would have been good if there had been the option for them to take away the old mattress at the same time. Also some idea of delivery time would have been appreciated.
  • What were your thoughts on the packaging of your mattress? It was very heavy and on return from holiday we struggled to get it up to the bedroom. It was clever how it fitted into a box and I 'm presuming that it does not damage the mattress in any way!
  • Would you have preferred the mattresses to arrived unrolled? Not particularly. If so, why? How long did you leave the mattress before you slept on it? It was left about 24 hours. There were no instructions in/on the box about it needing to be left but I had seen another poster on here mentioning it should be left for 48 hours. I am amazed that we weren't given any instructions at all.
  • Overall, what was your first impression of sleeping on your new mattress? Did it feel soft, medium, or firm? It felt firm. It felt strange as i's very different from our last mattress as it dips where you lay on it but my back felt supported by the mattress. I expect this takes some getting used to. We also think it feels quite hot to sleep on but comfortable.
  • Did you notice any difference in the feel of the mattress over the course of a few nights? Have slept on it 2 nights now and so no, not yet. We are still getting used to it. But we are sleeping well!

Final Feedback

  • Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress?

I like this mattress (King size firm), it's a world away in terms of advancement and technology than our previous mattress from last century! It is comfortable, sleep has been fine and I like that it is easyish to manoeuvre.

-How would you describe the quality of the mattress?
If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores)*

I'd say this was a medium to high quality mattress. I'd definitely go to a Dreams store to test a Hyde & Sleep mattress. Indeed, we have done this and, as a result, have ordered another mattress for home too.

  • How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?

I'd expect to pay up to about £800.

  • Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why?

I would recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses for the quality and the very good customer service. For me, the service is key to any transaction and I am impressed. It has been easy, problem free and the comms has been great.

  • Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress?

I was delighted to be offered complimentary mattress removal of my old mattress, that was wonderful. In addition, when the new mattress arrived I was given a brand new king size duvet as a gift too. That was a surprise and welcome.

honeyharris · 13/09/2018 13:26
  • Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress?
I am very pleased with my Hyde and Sleep mattress. It is very comfortable to sleep on, very firm which I like as it doesn’t move and shift when I roll over. My sleep has definitely improved. My only criticism is that we have found we get quite hot and sweaty at night, I wonder if it is because of the memory foam or the mattress protector. We’ve bought a cooling mattress topper from Argos which has mainly resolved this problem. As an English person living in Scotland I suspect the heat may become less of a problem very soon!
  • How would you describe the quality of the mattress?
It seems an excellent quality. We previously had a mattress for about half the price and you could feel every spring in it after about a year, the Hyde seems a lot more substantial and sturdy. It looks well made.

If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores)
I would buy it in store so I could try it out first

  • How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?
About the price that it is worth I reckon (£700), given how much better it is than other mattresses that I’ve had. Would I pay that much for a mattress? No. Partly because I’m quite tight and also we are a bit short of money so there are more pressing things I could spend it on.
  • Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why?
If they could afford one, yes. It is so comfortable and has transformed my sleep. I’m not aware of my husband moving in the night or coming to bed if I’m there first, which has probably improved our relationship.
  • Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress?
My 4 year old son is very disappointed that he can’t bounce on the bed any more as it isn’t possible on the firm mattress. We however are delighted.

Here's my final feedback feedback - sorry it's taken me so long!

Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress?
We like the mattress and I do find it comfortable. I wouldn't say my quality of sleep is any different though - my sleep is more affected by things like temperature and snoring than the mattress I'm sleeping on!

How would you describe the quality of the mattress?
The mattress feels very good quality*

If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores)
I selected a medium mattress but I think we'd prefer one that's slightly softer. Therefore in future I'd definitely buy in store rather than online so that I could try them before making my choice.

How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?
It's a long time since I last bought a mattress so I'm not sure! However I would say the current price of £800ish seems fair to me when comparing with other mattresses I looked at online.

Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why?
I'd certainly recommend they try Hyde & Sleep in a shop if they were looking for a mattress.

Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress?
I'm so happy to have a lovely new mattress and wish I'd bought one sooner!

Final feedback Smile
Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress. I love my mattress, my sleep is much less disturbed and I’m so glad I got chosen for the trial as I thought my old one was fine.

How would you describe the quality of the mattress? Great quality very comfortable

If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores) Id buy in store. A mattress is such a personal thing i wouldn’t risk buying without trying it out.

How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?. I find this hard to answer as prices vary hugely for mattresses so it’s hard to say what good value is! I would however say that you can’t put a price on a good nights sleep.
Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why? yes if they asked. I’d recommend as it’s been really eye opening how much differed it’s made to my sleep.

Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress? not really, just thank you for the trial I’m over the moon with my mattress.

MummyBtothree · 14/09/2018 11:12

Final Feedback -

  1. Because my the mattress that I received was far, far too soft, I have put it in my eldest son's room for him to use. I managed to put up with it for 2 nights but had to go back to my old mattress as the Hyde & Sleep mattress just didn't offer me anywhere near the support that I need.
  2. I can see the mattress is of good quality
  3. I wouldn't buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress but I have purchased my previous mattress online before.
  4. I know that the mattress was over £700 but I wouldn't pay that for it.
  5. No I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. I didn't receive a delivery date or time, I just came home one day to find it left at my back door!. I don't like the mattress either - sorry.

Final Feedback

  • Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress?

Initially it took a bit of time to get used to, because of the dipping and body moulding to the mattress, but after a few weeks sleep I can confidently say that my sleep quality has improved. It's comfortable and sort of cocooning, and since we've used the mattress in the spare room, it's been used for sleepovers, guests and my husband and me and we all love it!

  • How would you describe the quality of the mattress?

Excellent quality - I noticed a considerable difference from my old, sprung mattress, which felt really clunky and uncomfortable in comparison.

If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores)

I'd probably buy online having tried one out, but if not I'd prefer to go and try it out in store.

  • How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?

I understand that they retail for up to £799 - so around the 5/600 mark for a double.

  • Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why?

yes, because what price a good sleep? I only realised how good when comparing it to the old mattress.

  • Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress?

It has brought home to me the importance of buying adecent mattress. It might not be the sexiest of purchases but sleep is invaluable!

Thank you :)

Overall, what do you think of your Hyde & Sleep mattress? Is it comfortable? Has your sleep improved? Is there anything you’d change/improve about your mattress?
Unfortunately I really don't like it. I'm really disappointed as I was so looking forward to testing out a new mattress. I have decided that mattresses are very different and what suits one person doesn't suit another. It has given me backache (this started on the third night and carried on for several nights before easing off a bit but still continues. It's lower back ache and really made me miserable.) I find it uncomfortable as it sinks where my body is and yet my head and legs don't sink. I realise I need a firm mattress that stays firm. My sleep is worse as I am waking up more during the night and then try to find a comfortable position - it is better if I change to lying on my side. I don't look forward to sleeping on it all and really miss my old mattress which I threw away as it was so old and I stupidly presumed any new mattress I tried out would be better than the old one! My husband finds it more comfortable but thinks it is very hot to sleep on and also took some getting used to. He preferred our old one too.

  • How would you describe the quality of the mattress?
It seems well made and of a good quality. It also looks very nice! If you were to buy a Hyde & Sleep mattress, would you buy it online or in store and why? (Hyde & Sleep mattresses are available in Dreams stores) I think my case demonstrates how vital it is to at least try a mattress out in store. It still might not be possible to judge in a short time whether it will suit you, but there would have been some indication. Also a chance to try out difference between soft/firm.etc.
  • How much would you expect to pay for your Hyde & Sleep mattress?
This is difficult for me to answer as I'm out of date with prices but also I wouldn't buy this mattress.
  • Would you recommend Hyde & Sleep mattresses to a friend or family member? Why?
Not from my experience so far. I thought the waiting time of over 2 months for delivery was too long and would have preferred to buy from somewhere with a shorter waiting time. Also communication over delivery was poor and no information on the mattress was given me at all. (I read on this site that the mattress should be left several hours to gain it's shape but I wouldn't have known that otherwise.) Most of all .. I don't like the mattress.
  • Do you have any other comments or observations on your new mattress?
I think it is hotter than our previous mattress which may be an issue for some people. Also it is worth noting that the mattress needs deeper fitted sheets than the normal size..

FIRST IMPRESSIONS -

After a rather long winded wait for the mattress ( thank you to mumsnet for sorting it out) I received my first text message with a date for when the mattress would be delivered. This came with an option to change the date. 11 days later another text to remind me of the delivery date and then 2 days later another to confirm the date and the 2 hour delivery slot for the mattress the next day. On the morning of delivery I had a call from the Dreams driver to confirm that he would be delivering the mattress within the delivery slot. The communication was excellent.
Within the allotted time 2 delivery men arrived with a giant king size Hyde and sleep, firm mattress. After reading the previous posters I expected to receive a large box. But our mattress arrived unfurled! Not that it would have made any difference to me except not having to rest it for 48 hours was a bonus!) I asked the delivery man who explained that there had been some problems with the rolled mattresses and that this mattress was ready to go straight on the bed and to leave it for a few hours to settle. He offered to take our old mattress but we declined this offer because we wanted to test this Hyde and Sleep mattress first! I asked if the mattress was heavy. He replied, ' no, not at all'. So I thought it would be an easy task for my husband and I to whizz it upstairs. Well...in hindsight I should've asked the men to tote it upstairs. With a lot of maneuvering and huffing and puffing we got the new mattress up stairs and unwrapped from its sturdy, sealed plastic bag onto our bed. It is a very deep and heavy mattress, we would have appreciated some handles on the mattress to help pull it on to the bed ( it also needs to be rotated regularly so handles would be very useful!).
Our previous mattress was a deep Heals pocket sprung mattress. The Hyde and Sleep mattress by comparison is very heavy and deep and is not bouncy! It is good and supportive ( our Hyde and Sleep mattress isn't soft at the corners as a previous tester posted) but has a very different feel to an ordinary mattress. We did notice a synthetic smell to the mattress, hopefully this will disperse over time.
Our first nights sleep - there is something about this mattress that makes you feel heavy. It is so supportive it feels like a giant cuddle. Neither of us tossed and turned to get comfortable and we went to sleep much faster, which really surprised me in a brand new type of mattress! Neither of us moved around in our sleep as much either and I noticed , ( though maybe I was in a deep deep sleep!) that the husband didn't snore!
So far this mattress is great! In fact it is so comfortable that we snuck back to it for half an hour after the school run just to enjoy how comfortable it is!
So far so good! Will keep you posted with how we feel about this mattress as the next 30 days unfold.

FINAL FEEDBACK
Well, after 30ish days the Hyde and Sleep mattress has done its job. I would say that it is a very comfortable mattress. Our sleep has improved somewhat but I would not say hugely. The quality if the mattress seems to be very good so far.
This type of mattress is completely new to us, we've always had the typical bouncy, pocket sprung mattresses. This mattress is completely different and I feel that unless you are familiar with these types of foam mattresses then seeing them I store is very helpful. But I also feel that you wouldn't get a true experience of the mattress in such a short time.
It is a very comforting mattress, very supportive and soothing.
I would recommend this mattress, perhaps especially for friends with sore backs etc if they are finding sleeping in a 'normal' mattress uncomfortable.
We try and remember to rotate this mattress every time we change the bed sheets so that it doesn't have a hollow on either side, I think this is quite important with this type if mattress. ( tho it is quite heavy). As I've mentioned before, this mattress has a completely different feel to conventional mattresses, I'm not nesseccarily saying that it is better, I think this depends on the quality of each mattress, but it is different and for us it has been a comfortable, supportive mattress. I would probably expect to pay between £500-800 for this mattress.
Thank you for letting us try it out!
