This activity is now closed

This is the feedback thread for the 50 MNers who tested out EdPlace’s online Maths activities and revision materials with their DC. This service test was open to all UK MNers with children who are preparing for their year 6 SATs and need an educational boost in Maths.

If you don't fancy reading the full thread, you can take a look at the highlights here: Mumsnetters review Edplace

All testers were required to complete 20 or more activities across the 4 week period in order to gain the most out of the service in the follow up to SATs, however if you are a regular subscriber to EdPlace you are able to complete as many or as few activities as you like.

Non-testers, in order to to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £150 Amazon voucher, please answer the following question/complete the following statement: What does ‘success’ mean to you? If easier, you can complete the following statement; “Success is seeing my child…”

Here’s what EdPlace has to say: “We are a National Curriculum aligned, online learning hub dedicated to helping your child achieve their best in English, maths and science from Year 1- GCSE. Trusted by tutors and parents, we help boost results via our worksheets, assessments and revision materials - taking your child on a personalised learning journey to success. This exam period, we’re shining a light on the positive impact education can have on a child’s confidence and development. Let’s #ReviseandShine by sharing what success means above and beyond exams.”

For the trial, each participant and their DC were required to:

  • Complete a minimum of 5 maths activities a week.
  • Complete an initial and final assessment to measure their progress.

Each participant and their DC received:

  • A personalised learning journey devised by a tutor.
  • Access to EdPlace’s English, maths and science subscription with 1000s of online worksheets, assessments, maths tutorial videos and revision materials.
  • Progress monitoring to ensure they’re on the right track.
  • Weekly progress reports for the parent to give them visibility to their child’s development and comprehension levels

Testers please answer the following questions:

  1. Overall how satisfied were you with EdPlace?
  2. Did both you and your DC enjoy using EdPlace?
  3. What did you and your DC like most about EdPlace?
  4. Do you think EdPlace helped get your child ready for their Maths SATs exam?
  5. Would you recommend EdPlace to a friend or family member?

Testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw, where one tester will receive a £100 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Success is seeing my child be confident and independent. I don't think I would worry so much if my children have this behind them.

asuwere · 06/06/2018 14:55

Non tester - success is trying your best to attain your goals, you don't have to reach them so long as you've tried your very best.

seizethecuttlefish · 06/06/2018 16:44

sharond101 · 07/06/2018 14:26

Non tester. Success to me means contentment with oneself.

1969angep · 07/06/2018 14:35

Success is seeing my child - do the best that they can. DS is just reaching the end of Yr 2 so has taken the first round of SATs. I have to be brutally honest and say I don't give a monkeys about them. His teachers and I both know where his strengths and weaknesses are without a test to "prove" it. As long as he is the best version of himself that he can be I'm happy.

kateandme · 07/06/2018 17:40

success is seeing my child
Achieve their goals, understand that for good things you have to work hard.
For them to be happy, content and CONFIDENT with what they are doing.

snotato · 07/06/2018 19:42

Success is seeing my child trying his best at everything he does.

TheresALight · 08/06/2018 09:39

Success is seeing my children laughing with each other and having fun whether that be playing with their cousins, watching them compete a new activity for the fit1test time, or watching them copy their father watering plants in the garden or helping him cook dinner.
Bonus points if they're asleep within 30 minutes of bedtime with a smile on their face or a book strewn across their stomachs!

AgentHannahWells · 08/06/2018 10:46

Success is seeing my 11 year old inventing her own campaign to abolish SATs 'which is especially important for my friends that are still only 10' Grin

MimsyBorogroves · 08/06/2018 18:02

purplepandas · 09/06/2018 08:26

Success is seeing my child be happy.

Devilishpyjamas · 09/06/2018 09:56

Success is seeing my child grow in confidence because they have achieved something they were scared to try.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 09/06/2018 12:33

Success means different things to me in different situations and applied to different people

Success may be getting 10 our of 10 on spellings, for a child who struggles then going from 3 out of 10 to 5 out of 10 would be a success

Success can mean achieving the results you want for yourself or wanted for someone else, it can mean that the person has come away happy and healthy and stress free, and the results really don't matter because I would still consider that a success
