This is the feedback thread for the 50 male Mumsnetters who tested the Below the Belt Grooming Fresh & Dry Balls gel in our first ever male only product test.

Testers received one of the following two fragrances:

They did for part of the day. The product ceased to be effective after a few hours.

Day-to-day use only.

Quite pleased, i would use the product.

Yes, on the whole.

It made no difference overall.

I wouldn't buy it myself, but i would expect to find the product in the male body care aisle of the supermarket.

Unfortunately not.

There was an initial sense of coolness and I felt there was definitely a dryer feeling than I would have normally expected.

• Did you use the product for anything in particular such as sporting activities, or was it more for day-to-day use?

I used this product before a 10k run and didn’t feel it help to keep me dry in that area at all.

If it was given as a novelty gift them maybe I’d be fine and try it but otherwise I’d be kind of concerned that I was known for sweaty balls.

I do.

I wouldn't have said so no.

I wouldn't buy it again and I'd probably expect it to be with male deodorants.

If it came up in conversation that a friend or family member had a sweaty ball

I liked it. I enjoy using products all over, to make sure my skin and hair are in good condition and look good. I would say I did notice my balls felt fresher, and it did last all day,

Just day to day use....although some of those days were very hot and sticky, so it did very well even on those days!

It depends who from!! I can see a lot of people thinking it's a funny gift.

Yes, the scent is important to me, I prefer subtler scents.

Not really.

Yeah I think I would, for summer time. And if the price was right of course. Near the deodorants.

Yeah, if the conversation came up I would. I had this conversation rececently when a friend said he did talced his balls, and I suggested this!

Yes, it lasted all day...very hot days too!

Day to day use...though that does involve running around after 3 children

Happy if from my wife, however, it is quite a personal product.

Not really, just felt fresher. It does however, remind me to check for lumps.

Yes, I would buy it again. It should be with the other male deodrants.

Yes, though I don't like the use of the word "Balls"...especially with young children who like to read ;-)

Apart from the initial cool tingling sensation as I first use the product I can't say that I noticed a difference throughout the day. There were used it for the duration of the test I found deodorant more effective. In fact this product made my skin chaff more than usual deodorant.

• Did you use the product for anything in particular such as sporting activities, or was it more for day-to-day use?

Day-to-day use including morning walk to work ( 40 mins)

Mortified shocked concerned........ Unless it was a secret Santa gift.

Yes I don't normally use my girlfriend's products!

No. Sorry.

I don't think I'll buy the product again as I find normal deodorant more effective. I would expect to see it with the male deodorants.

Possibly...... But I couldnt imagine it would come up in conversation!

On first application there is a coolness / freshness - but can't say it lasted all day - maybe a few hours only.

Day to day use and before putting on dry or wet suits - that helped and made it feel better.

Depends who gave it I suppose! From DW could be a little strange - don't think she'd offer that sort of product - so anyone else would just be weird!

Have some - but to be honest tend to pick up womens creams and lotions too - for face / hands / feet - not over perfumed ones those. Cheap perfumes make me sneeze too much!!

Yes, absolutely this product had that effect - NOT!

Wouldn't buy it - but would expect it in mens deodorant section - will Aldi / Lidl be stocking it?

• Would you recommend this product to a friend or family member?

Don't think so. Although there was a bit of freshness / tingle (using the Fresh product) - to be honest using say a minty body wash has a more invigorating effect. Helped bit for during / after sport for a touch more freshness and perhaps less chaffing in the groin area but thats about it.

Like you wouldn't believe. I often spend my days installing heavy computer equipment in less than inviting areas. After using this product my general level of
moisture and discomfort has been reduced dramatically.

• Did you use the product for anything in particular such as sporting activities, or was it more for day-to-day use?

I've been using the product on a daily basis so it's been tested at work, my cross-trainer sessions and throughout the beautiful weather we've been having. I also
used this product whilst breaking my all time Apple Watch exercise record on a bouncy castle. I can safely say it's been thoroughly tested.

• How would you feel if you were given Below the Belt Grooming Fresh & Dry Balls as a gift?

I would have no issues as long as it wasn't from my mum, grooming products are all the rage nowadays.

I often don't get a choice of the product I use, owing to the 10 to 1 ratio of female to male products that grace the shelf in my shower. To have a product like this
around that I know only I will use is a positive for me. I'd like to see more products like this.

This product has definitely improved my mood, especially during hard days at work. I feel more fresh, more relaxed and a lot more comfortable.

I would indeed. I would most likely look for this product on Amazon or similar.

It would certainly be an interesting discussion if this topic came up, but if it ever did I would recommend this product.

Didn’t notice a huge difference honestly. I wasn’t unsatisfied.

I wouldn’t be offended, a bit confused, if think it was a bit of a naff joke

Yeah really helped with a confrontation I had at work knowing that in all likelihood, I had fresher balls than the person I was arguing with. Especially if they were male.

I don’t think so. Probably the cosmetics bit of somewhere like Topman

In the unlikely scenario that a friend or family member asked me for help with their sweaty balls, I’d suggest they give it a go, with the caveat that I didn’t personally notice much of a difference

Did your balls feel fresh and dry all day? yes they felt fresh dry and cool throughout the day, im a taxi driviver and get sweaty down below but this product was amazing dry fresh and cool

1. I was satisfied with the product. My balls did feel fresh.
2. Mostly everyday use. My job is quite physical.
3. I would probably think it was a joke gift. But it's ok.

Fairly good product, but I preferred using talc powder. They did feel fresh, but not necessarily dry all day.

I was very satisfied and impressed with the product it actually works.
I only applied the product for use on a day to day basis and if I was going out socially.
I would except as I would any other gift.
I do like products which are specifically produced for men although I do not use them all the time.
My mood was greatly improved.It was nice to know that my groin area was dry and i had no need to reach down to redress myself.
I would most likely purchase this product and expect to find it in a chemist in the men's section.
I would inform my mates about this trail and my thoughts on it, recommend they try it for themselves. They can then make up their own minds about it.
I would inform them that I had trailed the product and give them my thoughts about how effective the product is. Then leave it up to them to decide whether they use it or not.

Bit late adding my feedback. Better late than never!? Douglas Adams said he liked deadlines, he loved the “whoosh” sound as they flew past!

Anyway, some impressions of the Fresh Fresh & Dry Balls product I was sent.

Overall, how satisfied were you with the product? Did your balls feel fresh and dry all day?
I tended to use the product in the evening after a shower, I didn’t feel much of an all day dry effect but it’s quite nice to use. It does leave a silky feel to the skin. However the initial burn when I first put it on was mildly unpleasant, but not really awful. I didn’t get used to it though.

• Did you use the product for anything in particular such as sporting activities, or was it more for day-to-day use?
• As a new product on my shelf I didn’t always immediately remember to use it. As a time to time addition to a grooming routine I’m sure I’d start to use it more regularly. I don’t think I’d be up for standing in the changing room after gym massaging it over my balls!

• How would you feel if you were given Below the Belt Grooming Fresh & Dry Balls as a gift?
• I’d be okay with getting this as a gift, don’t think I’d feel the gifter was having a dig!

• Do you like products that are specifically designed just for men and the male body?
• Big yes to this. I always prefer men’s branded grooming and care products. For me it’s about more masculine product identity and usually less floral tones to the scent.

• Did you find that using this product improved your self confidence and/or mood in your day-to-day life?
• No identifiable improvements, maybe only a short boost when it was applied, but I soon forgot I’d put it on.

• Would you buy Below the Belt Grooming Fresh & Dry Balls again? If so, where would you expect to find the product when shopping for it?
• I would buy it again at some point, now I’ve tried it. I’d expect it to be around the men’s grooming products in pharmacies probably along with the deodorants/anti-perspirants. Or on an enormous product showcase stand 😉

• Would you recommend this product to a friend or family member
• No I really can’t see me doing that, would need to be from a partner or spouse but I doubt that recommending it would come up in conversation. Tricky one but I think it’s more a product that guys would buy for themselves on impulse.

I wasn’t completely won over by the product and I’m not convinced there is a problem out there for this particular solution as long as men continue wash their parts. As a slightly out of the ordinary new grooming product though, I salute it as a good effort. Thanks for the chance to test it out for you.

Very satisfied- I was shocked how fresh and dry my balls were especially as they were so clammy before I started using the product.

A bit of both actually. I play 5 a side football so my balls were still fresh and dry after playing footie.

the start of my working day felt really coo & fresh .. it didnt last after lunchtime tho.
