Would you like to test mobile network operator The People’s Operator (TPO)?

The People’s Operator (TPO) - the mobile network operator that gives 10% of your monthly cost to a cause of your choice - has asked us to find 75 Mumsnetters to test their service over a period of 3-4 months and then give their feedback.

Here’s what The People’s Operator has to say: “We’re proud to have launched a different kind of mobile company - one with a mission to raise millions for good causes. We direct 10% of what you spend to any good cause of your choice - at no cost to you. We also believe our members should be able to get a top service and make a massive difference at the same time, so we don’t spend money on huge offices, giant billboards or flashy stores and we pass these massive savings on, so you pay less for messages, minutes and megabytes.”

If selected, you’ll receive a plan for 6 months (worth up to £119.94). Prior to receiving your sim, you’ll need to complete a short survey. Then, following the receipt of your sim, you’ll need to give feedback periodically throughout the testing period on a private Mumsnet feedback thread, as well as completing a survey about your experience at the end of the test.

If you’re interested in being a tester, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck!

Think after reading all these I'll stick to GiffGaff!

Worieddd · 02/05/2018 23:35

I would also recommend them been fine for me

Seriously, AVOID.
TPO were brilliant when they started but then customer service nosedived. I think it was the most woeful customer service of any company I've ever experienced. When they switched over onto a new 4G network they apparently 'lost' a bunch of mobile numbers in the switch, mine included. I spent over a month with no number and not knowing if my phone number would be retrieved, never getting through on the phone and not having my emails answered. Really NOT what you need when you have just had a baby, they drove me to tears I was so frustrated and angry.

why do they need to know my income and the job of the highest earner in the household?

Sallycinnamum · 10/05/2018 10:14

Avoid at all costs. The customer service is absolutely appalling and I've heard some pretty awful stories from other people who've used them.

I agree - mn you should not be supporting their campaign. We recently signed my 10 year old up with a plan. His phone is mainly for safety as we live in a small town and he is fairly independent. He is brilliant at letting us know where he is and if plans change.

He was allowed to go over his data package by £20 with no warning to my dh who had set up and paid for the plan and when he exceeded this they stopped his ability to phone and text with no warning. So counter to what we bought the phone for and potentially unsafe. Definitely unethical.

We have just signed up to Our Pact which is a much more parent centric (brilliant) app. If you are looking to promote things for kids devices! Avoid TPO like the plague.

Very surprised to see so much negativity, having been with TPO mobile for some time, I cannot recall ever having an issue and it is certainly good to know a few pounds a month are heading to Csncer Research UK.

3girlsunder3 · 26/05/2018 13:43

What's happening with this please? Is it still live? Have the testers been chosen yet?

sharonith74 · 30/05/2018 17:31

I never mind trying out new things I'm pay as you go so it won't affect any contract.
And it will be interesting to try.
