This is the feedback thread for the 100 Mumsnetters who have been testing the new The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey range.

Here’s what The Body Shop have to say: “Many of us suffer from sensitive skin. Whether it’s experiencing stinging or tight itchy dryness to full blown break-outs, sensitive skin can be uncomfortable, distressing and sometimes unsightly and embarrassing. Although there is no known single cause of sensitive skin, it is thought to involve a combination of impaired skin barrier function, extra-sensitive nerve endings in the skin and intolerance to triggers. For many people cosmetic ingredients can trigger a reaction. Our protecting new Almond Milk & Honey Body Care range has been specifically formulated to comfort sensitive, dry skin. It’s been developed with a gentle fragrance that’s hypoallergenic - at last, you can enjoy some indulgent pampering without triggering a reaction. Enriched with nourishing organic almond oil from Spain and caring Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, the products are colourant-free, cream-based formulas, give up to 48 hour moisturisation and help to soothe, restore and protect your skin.”

Below are some questions, but please also give your feedback on the products in general and share your thoughts on each product.
1. How did the products make your skin feel?
2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

All those who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

  1. How did the products make your skin feel? The hand cream sunk into my skin quickly and made them feel softer.
  2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin? The bath milk and body butter were not soothing on mine or my sons skin so we only used for a short time.
  3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Unfortunately not.
  4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? I usually use fragranced products.
  5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? The smell of honey was over powering and too sweet. The hand cream made me feel sick.
  6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? Yes.
  7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend these products, I wasnt keen on the smell, they made my excema worse and the bath milk gave me my first ever uti! Its a shame as I normally like body shop products but these ones aren't for me.
CumbrianExile · 07/03/2017 19:57

Hi

Thanks for choosing me to test these products Smile

  1. How did the products make your skin feel? - Very soft. I thought the body butter would be really sticky, but it went on well and soaked in quickly, and left my skin feeling very soft for a couple of days.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin? - Yes, when I first received the products I was suffering from a particularly bad patch of dry skin on my shins, a bath and a layer of body butter calmed them very quickly and didn't cause a reaction as I thought.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? - yes, very much so.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? - Stay clear - I usually use aqueous cream and baby bath products.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? - I did, the bath milk and hand cream was perfect, although I found the body butter a little strong.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? -Yes, I try to stick to natural ingredients if I can.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream? I would recommend all three. The hand lotion was a little watery, but fine to have in my hand bag for when I was out and about. The bath milk was perfect, great amount of bubbles which didnt disappear quickly, softened the skin and smelt great. The Body Butter was slightly overpowering with the smell. But the way it relieved by dry patches was worth it.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes, dry patches now feel moisturised.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I generally steer clear due to sensitive skin though I do prefer fragranced products.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Yes, at first I thought it was a bit strong but actually once on is lovely.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? Yes
  2. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
I would recommend all 3. The bath milk is gorgeous, I lived it in my bath. The body butter is perfect, it worked really well and I like the handcream, perfect for my bag.
Goldenhandshake · 08/03/2017 13:09
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Soft and hydrated for the body butter, I found the bath milk very nicely fragranced and left my skin feeling quite silky. The hand cream was amazing, it massively improved my contact dermatitis that I have on one area of my hand.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes especially the hand cream, massive improvement to my very dry, cracked skin on my thumb .
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes but the effects were only until the next shower, so I am dubious as to how deep and long lasting the effects are.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
No I tend to stick to sensitive, unfragranced ranges.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Yes it had a sweet, pleasant smell that was not too over powering or artificial.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes, having sensitive skin that my youngest has inherited, it is crucial that I am aware of what goes onto our skin.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream
All three, especially the hand cream.
PseudoBadger · 08/03/2017 17:48
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Silky and indulged! The hand cream absorbed nicely too. It is a shame that the bath product contains SLS.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes, particularly the hand cream.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes it feels like it's had several doses of my normal products.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I use Dr Organic which has a mild fragrance. And I don't normally like too scented hand cream.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I really liked it, mild but interesting, and very pleasant.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Very much. I avoid all SLS, parabens etc so it is a shame that these products are not free of them.i would not buy them because of this.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream? Yes to all, but would advise they contain ingredients which friends may wish to avoid.
Changingagain · 09/03/2017 06:33

1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Soft, particularly the butter on my legs after shaving. I still have dry skin on my hands but the tight feeling has gone.

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

I didn't have an outbreak while using these so I think it prevented one.

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

The hand cream took away the tightness so it feels more like it moisturised deep into the skin rather than just the surface.

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I use a fragranced shower gel but otherwise steer clear.

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I wasn't keen to start with but it's grown on me. DH mentioned he liked it without me asking.

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Not really, I tend to just believe the packaging when it says something along the lines of "for sensitive skin".

7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Bath milk - I didn't get to test enough to recommend it as I don't get time for a bath.
Body butter - yes but I would point out that it takes a while to apply.
Hand cream - yes, definitely. I was very surprised to not get a reaction from something with a scent and it's very unusual for me to go a couple of weeks without an outbreak.

toptomatoes · 09/03/2017 20:50
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Silly, particularly the hand cream. I liked all the products but the hand cream made the dry skin on my hands feel supple and soft but not sticky. The body butter felt indulgent but took a while to sink in.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Definitely my hands. The rest of my skin also feels less dry.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
My hands did - the hand cream is really good. The others worked well too.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I do use fragranced products for skin care but avoid them in the bath.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
The fragrance is good. Fairly subtle, which is a good thing - not overpowering. Not too sweet either.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
I try to be but I think these did have some ingredients that I would try to avoid.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Hand cream definitely. The others are nice but not better than other things I've tried. The hand cream is lovely though.
ligersaremyfavouriteanimal · 11/03/2017 19:36

Hello,

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Nice and silky Smile

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes, they all felt very calming and soothing going on. I've had terrible cracked dry skin on my hands this winter and the hand cream in particular was great. Felt lovely going on and after only a few uses I noticed a difference.

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes. I've always been a fan of Body Shop body butters and this one was no exception. The bath milk left my skin soft and supple for several days afterwards.

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I'm not a fan of heavy or overpowering scents, but I don't mind subtle fragrance on moisturisers/creams but try and avoid them on bath products.

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I liked it. Not too strong.

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
I would say I'm interested but not particularly knowledgable. I do actively seek out organic and natural products where I can.

7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Yes I would recommend all three. The body butter is probably no better than any of their body butters though. The handcream is great.

Thanks for the trial.

SheilaTakeABow · 13/03/2017 11:02

Hmm, wrote out all my feedback first time I was asked but it didn't post, so here it is again.

  1. How did the products make your skin feel? The body butter and hand cream both made my skin feel lovely and soft. Bath milk had no noticeable effect.
  2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin? As above - the body butter and hand cream did, the bath milk not so much.
  3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Yes, particularly with the body butter.
  4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? I generally use fragranced products, and have got a feel for what fragrances may irritate my skin.
  5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? I loved the fragrance, it was very subtle and far less synthetic than I expected - honey ranges in particular can often be very sickly but this wasn't.
  6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? My child has bad eczema so we stuck with water and prescribed emollients. After 40 years of sensitive skin, I have worked out my triggers, which aren't always what might be expected - E45 is worse for my skin than a heavily scenter body butter.
  7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream? I would recommend the body butter and hand cream but not the bath milk as it had no discernible effect and didn't seem superior to a budget brand.
Lunar1 · 13/03/2017 13:27
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

My Skin felt soft and smooth after using the products with no oily residue.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

there was some improvement in the very dry areas of my skin, but for me more importantly my skin didn't become worse after using the products. which happens so often with commercial products.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

my hands were much softer with the hand-cream and there was improvement to the rest of my skin. I think with how bad my skin is it would take a long time to feel deeply moisturised!

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I normally steer clear.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

yes, the scent is lovely. it fades quickly but its just nice to be able to use something with scent in.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Luckily my children have lovely skin, they are mixed race and haven't inherited my skin issues. but I am still careful and try to use mild/natural products where possible.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

yes, without question id recommend all three.

Miskate · 13/03/2017 14:20

How did the products make your skin feel?
Fine. The body butter was very effective.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
The body butter definitely did. The hand cream was too light to be effective and I didn't notice much difference with the bath soak.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Only with the body butter.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
Yes
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I really liked the smell, it was the type of fragrance I find really attractive.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes, and I used the bath soak in a bath with my son.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
I would definitely recommend the butter
mollysmummy1970 · 13/03/2017 17:02
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Really nice and soft. I quite often feel my skin quite tight or itchy straight after a shower or bath and it didn't using this. And the body butter has been great, especially on my legs.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Definitely. I often find I'm quite itchy after using fragranced products and this felt lovely.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes it really did. I can really tell on my shins as they aren't scaly anymore.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I do but i usually stick to what I know won't irritate me.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Loved it! It smelled so fresh and clean.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes as unfortunately my son has inherited my sensitive skin.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
I would and have recommended all three and will 100% buy all three again. I've been delighted with them.

I also would like to add, that I have been using the bath milk in my sons bath and he's been fine with it. And there's lots of baby bath products that he can't have so that's been great.

yummytummy · 13/03/2017 17:55
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
I liked the hand cream and my skin felt soothed at first but then became quite dry again very quickly. the body butter was a little heavy for me and I would have been interested to see how the body lotion was and if it would feel lighter
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
they did and the bath lotion was nice but as I said the butter was a little heavy
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes it really did. especially after shaving legs etc
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I prefer fragranced products
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
it was a nice fragrance and not too overpowering
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes up to a point but most products aimed towards children have been fine
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
maybe the bath milk
yummytummy · 13/03/2017 17:56

also I would have liked to try the shower gel and body lotion as I would most likely use those more. I don't often have baths and I find body butters a little too rich for me

Becca83 · 13/03/2017 19:24
  1. How did the products make your skin feel? Lovely and soft, especially the hand cream.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Surprisingly, yes! I usually struggle to find a product that will effectively soothe my skin and stop it looking cracked & feeling dry, but the body butter and he cream really seemed to help.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

Very much so. I have actually been able to use my steroid cream much less, which is great.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I.usually steer clear as anything fragrances will often cause my skin to flare up.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I liked the fragrance as it was pleasant but not too overpowering.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Absolutely! As my daughter and I both suffer from eczema and sensitive skin, im accutely aware of what products we use and what ingredients they contain. I find almond is one of the best ingredients for us.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Yes! All.od the above, but especially the hand cream which is a new favourite.
Orangepear · 13/03/2017 20:08
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Smooth! Really nice and silky.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes, and no reactions. Sometimes with fragranced products my skin itches but was fine with these.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes. The butter was very thick so was really moisturising. I thought the hand cream might not be very moisturising but it worked well.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I use both.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I did really like it. Very relaxing and warm.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
A bit, I'm more concerned about what we eat though.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
I would! Definitely the two creams. I think I'd prefer a shower gel to a bath product though as I don't have time for a bath very often. This trial was a good excuse though so thank you! I'd like the hand cream tube to be a bit bigger though - the other two products were huge so would last ages.
EthelredOnAGoodDay · 13/03/2017 20:53

How did the products make your skin feel?
The creams were lovely and thick. Only downside of this was that the body cream took a while to soak in, which meant having to wait a while before dressing.
2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes, my legs in particular felt very soft and moisturised.
3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Yes.
4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? Avoid! Normally use fragrance free products.
5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? It was nice, but occasionally thought it was bordering on being slightly too strong.
6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? Yes, again I avoid scented products because both our children have slightly sensitive skin.
7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Yes. Body Butter? Yes. Hand Cream? Yes.

Lauren1983 · 14/03/2017 00:06
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Soft and smooth. The body butter was quite thick so took a bit of rubbing in but left skin nicely moisturised. The hand cream soaked in nicely.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Yes, I currently have a few flaky patches of skin and the body butter definitely helped my skin to feel less dry.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

Yes, nicely moisturised and very soft.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I don't find fragrances trigger my skin so don't purposefully avoid them.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

Yes. The smell was subtle and just on the right side of sweetness. I could still smell the products a few hours later on my skin but the scent was not overpowering at all.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

I normally use fragrance free products on my 4 year old as both me and her dad suffer from skin problems so worry she will also have sensitive skin

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Yes, all of them. My favourite was probably the bath milk which created lots of lovely bubbles in the bath and left my skin a lot softer after just one use. The body butter was my least favourite because I prefer lotions in bottles but it was still a nice product.

RebeccaCloud9 · 17/03/2017 19:54

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
smooth and moisturised, and not claggy or sticky.

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Not particularly calm, but they didn't irritate. My skin is much drier during pregnancy and the products really helped this.

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes - when I am not pregnant, my skin is not particularly dry so I am not used to it, and haven't treated my skin well enough! All products really helped to restore moisture.

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I can use a lightly fragranced range, although some brands don't agree with my skin, and I don't like too strong a fragrance.

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I loved it - subtle but comforting and not sickly or overpowering. Lovely.

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
There are some ingredients that I steer clear of, but I am not too concerned.

7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Yes, I would thoroughly recommend them all. I liked the fragrance, they didn't irritate my skin and they felt luxurious. Most importantly, They moisturised my skin without leaving a thick or greasy residue.
