JustineBMumsnet · 27/02/2017 14:03

This is the feedback thread for the 100 Mumsnetters who have been testing the new The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey range.

Here’s what The Body Shop have to say: “Many of us suffer from sensitive skin. Whether it’s experiencing stinging or tight itchy dryness to full blown break-outs, sensitive skin can be uncomfortable, distressing and sometimes unsightly and embarrassing. Although there is no known single cause of sensitive skin, it is thought to involve a combination of impaired skin barrier function, extra-sensitive nerve endings in the skin and intolerance to triggers. For many people cosmetic ingredients can trigger a reaction. Our protecting new Almond Milk & Honey Body Care range has been specifically formulated to comfort sensitive, dry skin. It’s been developed with a gentle fragrance that’s hypoallergenic - at last, you can enjoy some indulgent pampering without triggering a reaction. Enriched with nourishing organic almond oil from Spain and caring Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, the products are colourant-free, cream-based formulas, give up to 48 hour moisturisation and help to soothe, restore and protect your skin.”

Below are some questions, but please also give your feedback on the products in general and share your thoughts on each product.
1. How did the products make your skin feel?
2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

All those who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

How long will the thread be up for? I would prefer to test for a couple of weeks before giving feedback.

I absolutely love this product range. My skin is sensitive and gets very dry. The bath milk was beautiful and felt silly. I do use the body shop hand creams anyway but this fragrance is one I will definitely buy again. It's light but smells luxurious. The body cream is quite thick but sinks into the skin really well; this was very soothing after shaving.
My skin felt hydrated and soft.
Overall the products were fantastic and they don't cost the earth which very appealing. I am a beauty therapist and I work with higher end products but personally for myself I use body shop.

heavenscent86 · 01/03/2017 17:31
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
My skin felt lovely and soft with all the products. I didn't find any of them greasy at all.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes my skin feels softer and less itchy for using these products.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
The body butter was by far the best for this. My skin felt so soft after using it.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
No I don't
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
The fragrance was fresh and pleasant. I would have liked a slightly atronger almond fragrance.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes I always read the ingredients
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Bath milk - maybe Body butter - yes, without a doubt Hand cream - yes
QuietNinjaTardis · 01/03/2017 19:35

I must admit I didn't have very high hopes for these products. I have stupidly sensitive, itchy skin and not much doesn't irritate. I checked out the ingredient of the products first and wasn't impressed that the bath milk had sodium lauryl sulfate in. Anyway I have used the body butter, hand cream and bath milk and I'm pleasantly surprised.

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Moisturised and soothed. Definitely helped with itchy skin.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes. I haven't been as itchy which at this time of year is a miracle.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes and the body butter and hand cream sink in like a dream which is helpful when you're rushed in the morning!
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I do use some fragranced things but mostly natural ingredients.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Yes it was quite nice. My skin smelt of the body butter for quite a while and my husband agreed it was nice.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes and yes. As above I do try to use natural products without as many of the 'nasty' chemicals that I can. Both my kids have eczema and I've spent a long time getting their skin under control so always check with new toiletries what's in them.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Yes yes yes. I've just bought a tester version of the shower gel in this range to test as well as I was in the shop earlier and I an impressed with how well this products worked on my skin. Will see how it goes! Good job body shop! 👍🏼
LotisBlue · 01/03/2017 21:42
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Nive and soft and moisturised

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Yes - at this time of year I suffer from dry skin and these products seemed to help

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

Using the bubble bath and the body butter together left my skin feeling lovely and soft. Unfortunately the body butter is a bit of a faff to apply and takes a long time to absorb, so I don't have time to use it every day.

The hand cream is lovely but not quite as good as my all time favourite body shop hemp hand cream (although it does smell nicer)

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

It depends on the product, I avoid strong smelling products as they sometimes irritate my skin

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

Yes they smelled lovely

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

To an extent

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Yes I would recommend them all

hollinhurst84 · 01/03/2017 21:45

I should add I used the body butter straight after shaving my legs. This usually equals tingling and irritation and little dots on my legs but absolutely no reaction at all

Sierra259 · 01/03/2017 22:22

1 How did the product make your skin feel?
Soft and silky

2 Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive skin?
The hand cream was particularly good. I work in healthcare and the constant handwashing is a nightmare for my hands. This cream was really soothing and really helped with my cracked, sore skin. The body butter was also great for dry patches of skin.

3 Did your skin feel deeply moisturised after using the products?
Very much so. The hand cream soaks in really quickly which is a big advantage as I can get straight on with paperwork etc without my hands feeling slippery. The body butter takes a bit longer to soak in, so you have to allow a while before dressing.

4 Do you normally use a fragranced bath and body range or steer clear?
Not for daily use as I have a 15 month old and haven't wanted to use any scented products while she was breastfeeding. I will use fragranced body lotion and hand cream occasionally.

5 Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I found the body butter a bit overpowering and sickly when I opened the pot but it was actually much more subtle when applied. The hand cream has a very pleasant smell and the bath milk is lovely.

6 Are you aware and interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child's skin b) your skin?
Yes for the children, less so for me. It's something that I'm definitely starting to pay more attention to.

7 Would you recommend the following products to a friend: Bath milk? Body butter? Hand cream?
Yes for the bath milk. Yes for the body butter, although it's not my favourite fragrance of body lotion. However it definitely does what it says it does! The hand cream was great and really quick to give improvement.

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Each product made my skin feel very soft and nourished.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Yes, I also used the body butter on my face and it got rid of the dry patches.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

Yes, my skin felt very soft and I was impressed as it still felt soft the next day.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I do usually use fragrances.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I love the fragrance! I use a similar scented hand cream which is double the price, but due to the fragrance and how impressed I was with the hand cream I will be changing to the Body Shop hand cream.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

I do not check the ingredients but try to use a very minimal amount on my children's skin and like to use natural type products on our skin.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Bath milk - yes, my skin is usually dry and flaky after a bath but it left it feeling moisturised. I felt that the fragrance could be stronger though.

Body Milk - yes definitely, I particularly liked this as it rubbed in easily, felt quite luxurious and moisturising but without feeling too thick.

Hand Cream - yes and I already have.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/03/2017 12:38
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Very soft and moisturised!
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
It did yes. Especially on my legs / knees. My hands are a bit of a mess at the moment as I've got a bout of eczema but even so, the hand cream made my hands feel moisturised and smooth and made a lot of the redness disappear.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes it did, especially after using the body butter which was very rich. Even after several hours my skin still felt smooth and moisturised.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I tend to use a bit of a mix of products so some are fragranced, others aren't.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I loved the fragrance! Really nice - and I wouldn't say I was a particular fan of almond or honey but it smelt delicious!!!
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
To some extent yes. I am prone to dry skin and have bouts of eczema and psoriasis. My son also is prone to dry patches. As such, I am careful and tend to use products for dry / sensitive skin.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Bath Milk - was my least favourite of the 3. I liked it but it didn't have a particular 'wow' factor like the other 2 products so I probably wouldn't recommend it. Body butter - yes! It was so rich and felt luxurious. It made my skin feel soft and moisturised so I'd recommend it. Hand cream - As above for body butter - it's a great product!

Thank you!!

CheeseEMouse · 02/03/2017 18:23
  1. The products made my dry skin feel soothed, however on my ecezma it wasn't as good as aveeno
  1. They worked well for my parched skin on my arms and legs, but less well on my ecezma
  1. The skin on my legs definitely felt moisturised
  1. I steer clear of fragrenced products on the whole
  1. I liked the fragrance, but I wonder if a non fragranced version might work better for me
  1. Yes, I keep an eye on what I use as i know certain things cause me to flare up
  1. Bath milk was ok. The body butter was lovely to soothe scaly skin, and the hand cream was nice too. I wouldn't recommend it for ecezma though, more just generic dry skin. But as with all these things, what works for some people doesn't work for others. Thank you for choosing me. My quest for the perfect cream has been lengthy!
QueenOfTheWhiteWalkers · 02/03/2017 19:29

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Gorgeous! No bad reactions at all (which I get quite frequently to most products because my skin is so sensitive).

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes, they did, and my daughter's too! The body butter actually sorted out her recent eczema flare up quite quickly.

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes. I loved the hand cream. My hands get horribly dry and cracked and the hand cream sorted them right out.

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I normally steer clear, I do occasionally use fragranced products but then pay for it by having a bad reaction.

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Loved the smell! It was so nice I took to sniffing the bath milk whenever I went into the bathroom! Blush

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes, and yes. I try to avoid quite a few different ingredients when I can.

7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
I'd recommend them all! Loved the bath milk, in fact, I was getting baths a lot more just so I could use the bath milk. Loved the body butter, so luxurious and gorgeous smelling. Loved the hand cream, left my hands really soft and moisturised.

I really enjoyed this product test, probably one of my favourites. I'm definitely going to be buying the bath milk, body butter and hand cream.

PinkSquash · 02/03/2017 19:52

I was selected but didn't receive the products to test...

talktostrangers · 02/03/2017 21:53

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
As smooth as a baby's arse. Literally.

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Hand cream, definitely. Also works equally well on my face. Body butter is best for arms/legs as I find it a bit greaser, however I've also been using the body butter on the kids faces as they get sore cheeks in the winter (we live on top of a hill, its always windy) and its really helped them.
Bath milk, less so but thats probably got more to do with my habit of 1-1.5hr baths as opposed to the product itself
The body butter also makes a pretty good massage cream

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Hand cream, definitely
Body butter, depends on areas but works really well on my kids,
Bath milk, no, but see above

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
Myself, lightly fragranced, the kids unfragranced.

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
It was a little overpowering at first but I soon got used to it. Children call it 'flower cream' as they say it smells like flowers.

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
The children more so than me

7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Body butter, definitely for winter sore cheeks from the wind, and the hand cream yes. Bath milk no

Cambam2010 · 03/03/2017 12:27

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
I found these products instantly soothing. The Hand cream absorbed perfectly and smelt divine. I rarely take a bath, preferring to shower, but I had some me time so poured a generous amount of the bath milk into the tub. The whole bathroom smelt gorgeous and it was luxurious to bathe in. I had time to run a razor over my legs and didn't even need to use any additional lotions or gels. The bath milk created a lovely smoothness to my skin. I followed the soak in the tub with the body butter - this was a lovely thick cream and went on well with even coverage. Didn't take too much to absorb and left my skin very soft. Again the smell was lovely and I snuggled up in my dressing gown, catching wafts of it all night.
2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
I work in an air-conditioned office and this really dries out the skin on my legs. After my bath and the body butter application my legs felt very soothed and the softness lasted a long time.
3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
The body butter on my legs felt very moisturised and lasted a fair while. With the handcream I did tend to re-apply often but I think this was more down to the fact of frequent hand washing (work soap dries my skin) combined with wanting to smell the scent again!
4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I usually buy a shower lotion that is enriched with honey but tend not to buy anything too highly fragranced. Body range wise, I usually just end up using what I get given in gift sets - and have a lot of half empty bottles due to the uninspiring nature of them.
5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
The fragrance was divine. It felt luxurious to bathe in and I just wanted to keep applying the hand cream to get the full benefit of the smell
6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
I have a 6 year old son who has suffered with Eczema since he was weaned. I am cautious about what goes on to his skin but not so obsessed about my own skin. I will try something and if it irritates then it gets binned.
7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
I would recommend all of these products and will be looking for more in the range. I haven't really shopped at Body Shop since I was a teenage and Dewberrry was all the range so was very pleasantly surprised by these products.

ginauk84 · 03/03/2017 12:54
  1. Made my skin feel lovely. The body butter didn't soak in very well though and felt a bit sticky, I tend to find this with all the Body Shop body butters though so don't tend to buy. The bath milk was lovely though and once the body butter had soaked in my skin felt soft. The same for the hand cream, it soaks in well and makes my hands feel soft.
  1. Yes I get very dry skin and patches of eczema over winter, the hand cream really helped it and cleared up the eczema and left my hands soft and moisturised.
  1. Yes my skin did feel deeply moisturised.
  1. I do normally used fragranced products as I like to smell nice :)
  1. I love the fragrance, it lasts well on your skin but is also not too overpowering a smell. It smells natural.
  1. a) I don't tend to use anything on my daughter's skin if I can help it as I think that the more natural oils she keeps the better. However I do use a gentle shampoo and she does like bubbles in her bath!
b) I have to watch what I use on my skin as it can be quite oily yet dry too so I try not to use anything as I will break into spots! I tend to use just an emollient on my hands that's all.
  1. I would recommend the hand cream and bath milk to friends.
SnugglySnerd · 03/03/2017 12:57

Unfortunately the big pot of lotion smashed in the post so I couldn't use it but I have used the bath and hand cream and I like them both. They smell lovely and make my skin feel nice and soft.

My skin is especially dry as the moment and I found the hand cream in particular has really helped.

I do use products with a scent but I am careful about which ones I use.

I really like the smell of the products and I would buy them.

I try to choose natural products as much as possible for my DD and me as we both have sensitive skin and she is prone to eczema.

Yes I would recommend these products to other people.

randdom · 03/03/2017 13:23
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

All three left my skin feeling softer and less tight. This was especially the case with the bath milk as often my skin feels tight after getting out of the bath but this was not the case here.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Definitely I have been doing a lot of DIY recently and it has left my hands will dry patches. The hand cream has done a great job.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

As above it left my skin feeling good and well hydrated.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I like to use fragrance but if my skin is sensitive I sometimes have to avoid.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I really like the smell. It wasn't too overpowering which I really liked.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

I keep a general eye for both my son and I but not specifically.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Definitely and I can already think of one friend who I might by a set for their birthday!

woodwaj · 03/03/2017 14:20
  1. How did the products make your skin feel? I really liked the body butter, the handcream not as much but it did soak in very very quickly
  2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin? I didn't feel soothed at all but I was amazing at how quickly it smoothed dry skin.
  3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Yes, after the first use with the body butter I noticed a big difference especially on rough areas such as my elbows, knees and heels.
  4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? Yes, normally soap and glory or lush.
  5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? I really liked it, the honey smell is lovely
  6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? My child yes, myself no.
  7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream? Yes I would and I am normally not a fan of the body shop, I felt so relaxed after using the bath milk. I didn't see a particular result from the handcream but would use it as the smell is lovely.
Eyre89 · 03/03/2017 15:05

Also no irritation at all after applying the body butter to freshly shaved legs which normally always happens.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 03/03/2017 15:06
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
I love the feel of the body butter, it's really helped with my dry patches! Bath milk is lovely too. Hand cream maybe a bit heavy for me.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes definitely, my elbows and knees are much less 'ashy' looking. No issues with my sensitive skin.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Yes I've felt a big difference - wish there was a similar product just for the face (although I have been wiping the residue from my hands to my face without any issue).
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
Prefer fragrance free normally as I share with the kids who have eczema. They both used this too with no issues!
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Love it. Not too overpowering and leaves a pleasant smell that lasts a while.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Yes as I said they have eczema but this didn't irritate it at all.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?
Bath milk and body butter definitely. Hand cream is quite personal I think, it wasn't my favourite but might work for others.
Melfish · 03/03/2017 16:44
  1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Bath cream- apart from nice scent, no discernable difference. Body butter and handcream made skin feel smooth and less reptilian.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Legs felt a good deal less itchy than normal, probably down to the body butter. have usually v dry skin on legs.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Yes. Skin seems to have improved. Particularly hands.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? Don't tend to bathe much- I do shower BTW!- and usually use fragranced stuff.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Fragrance quite sweet smelling, not unpleasant but I prefer florals.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
TBH, not particularly. More concerned with less flaking and irritation. Have found some products marketed as 'natural' irritate my skin more.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Not particularly, but would if they were looking for that scent.
Body Butter? Hand Cream? -Yes to both. Hand cream very moisturising and sank in quickly.
HustleVandango · 03/03/2017 19:09

Hi thanks for including me on this test - I really liked these products.

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Super-soft and relieved. My dry wintry skin is noticeably softer.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Yes it did. The hand cream is especially good and has really moisturised my skin. I have recently had a couple of finger tattoos and it was particularly kind in those.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

Yes I loved the body lotion.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I usually use cocoa butter (fragranced) and on the days my skin is especially sensitive I use coconut oil

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I did like the fragrance but when I used the bath milk + body lotion it was a bit overpowering.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Yes very much. I try to aim for natural ingredients and recycled packaging where possible.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

I would recommend all three of these to anyone with sensitive and fussy skin like mine!

Smile
KelBelle · 03/03/2017 22:10

Thanks for the opportunity of trialing these products. Here are my answers below...

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

My skin felt super soft after using all products. I tried the bath milk first, alone with no moisturiser and I could feel the difference on day one. The body butter is heaven! My legs are normally very dry this time of year. Even my partner commented how soft they were. No flaking and no tightness. Silky soft! The hand cream wasn't greasy at all and sunk in fast leaving them feeling soft and silky.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Definitely! Especially my legs which is where I normally feel itching and dryness. Immediate effect too!

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

100%. Even at the end of the day it still felt as soft as when I had just applied the products.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

Normally I steer clear. It makes me itch and dries my skin out.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

The fragrance is really nice, not too intense. Could still smell it slightly after a few hours but it wasn't too much which I liked.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Yes! I don't like to use anything harsh. Love natural products.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

I would 100% recommend these products in particular the bath milk and body butter. It is amazing! Will definitely purchasing more once it's gone. The hand cream is lovely too but I've noticed the biggest difference on my legs and body. Smile
