This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnetters who are testing out Mumsnet Flendr, an online platform for organising cash collections and fundraising activities.

For those who haven’t tested Mumsnet Flendr, here’s a bit about it:
The idea is to make it easier to do things like club together for a joint birthday present, collect for a teachers' end-of-year gift, or fundraise for something you care about. All lovely activities, but they often involve some fairly tedious money admin too.

So, if you've ever found yourself stuffing crumpled fivers into envelopes - or having an awkward ‘Er, could give me that money you promised’ conversation with a late payer, then we're hoping Mumsnet Flendr will help.

It's really easy to set up a collection, and people who pledge to chip in get auto-reminders. Contributors can make payments by PayPal, payment card or bank transfer, and organisers get alerts when there's a contribution. And unlike some other big fundraising platforms, all your money will go to your chosen cause, with no hidden charges or fees.

As a further thank you for being a tester, MN Flendr have agreed to contribute £10 to all first-time collections above £30 with more than 3 contributors (in addition to yourself) e.g. if you start a collection for a teacher's present, and collect a combined total of £30 or more from 3 or more people other than yourself, Mumsnet Flendr will add £10 to your collection!

Testers, here are some questions to think about, but also feel free to add any other comments you have about Mumsnet Flendr.

  1. How easy did you find Flendr to use?
  2. How did you find the process of setting up and running a collection?
  3. What did you think of the website? Please tell us what you liked and what improvements you’d make.
  4. Flendr might be able to offer group discounts on certain things. Please tell us what sorts of things you’d be interested in e.g. theatre and cinema tickets or places such Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc...

All testers who add their feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

1)How easy did you find Flendr to use?
Very easy. Navigation was really clear and I didn't have any trouble.

2)How did you find the process of setting up and running a collection?
I made a dummy collection and it was really simple, then deleting it was very Quick and easy. I found creating an account with my Facebook very easy.

3)What did you think of the website? Please tell us what you liked and what improvements you’d make.
I thought it was well laid out and easy to navigate. I don't love the name- sorry! I liked that you could use PayPal, and I liked the fonts and the simplicity of the set up.

4)Flendr might be able to offer group discounts on certain things. Please tell us what sorts of things you’d be interested in e.g. theatre and cinema tickets or places such Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc...
Theatre/cinema
Discounts on shops if the collection was to be spent there.
Eating out
Spas
Events / days out eg national trust

1)How easy did you find Flendr to use?

Very easy, was simple and straight forward to use.

2)How did you find the process of setting up and running a collection?

Pretty straight forward really.

3)What did you think of the website? Please tell us what you liked and what improvements you’d make.

Looked professional and legitimate. Ok logo. Not really sure I would make any improvement.

4)Flendr might be able to offer group discounts on certain things. Please tell us what sorts of things you’d be interested in e.g. theatre and cinema tickets or places such Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc...

Yer, theme park discount would be good.

1)How easy did you find Flendr to use?
Very easy, simple and straight forward.

2)How did you find the process of setting up and running a collection?
Very good, easy to add photos and additional text. easy to share the collection site to friends and on groups

3)What did you think of the website? Please tell us what you liked and what improvements you’d make.
Website was clearly laid out and easy to view. I don't like messy websites with lots of detail. I liked the pictures.

4)Flendr might be able to offer group discounts on certain things. Please tell us what sorts of things you’d be interested in e.g. theatre and cinema tickets or places such Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc...

Days out, eg family events, theatres/cinemas close to you, amazon.

I have set up a collection for a present for our teachers at the end of the year. So far we have 3 donations :) Users have said they have found it easy to use and straight forward!

1)How easy did you find Flendr to use? It was fairly easy for someone who is used to using computers.
2)How did you find the process of setting up and running a collection? The process was simple enough to use. I would have liked to have had an option not to have an end date so could have collection on going.
3)What did you think of the website? Please tell us what you liked and what improvements you’d make. The major thing that needs improving is making sure there are no spelling mistakes. People will not trust a site with basic spelling errors.
4)Flendr might be able to offer group discounts on certain things. Please tell us what sorts of things you’d be interested in e.g. theatre and cinema tickets or places such Alton Towers, Thorpe Park etc... I think discounts for days out are good but there are a lot of firms offering this type of discount. Maybe discounts on buying vouchers (I'm thinking about gifts for families or teachers).

The other people who contributed all said it was easy to use although initially there was some scepticism because they didn't all have PayPal accounts. Perhaps it needs to be clearer that they could use PayPal as a guest and didn't need an account. There was also some hesitation from a couple because they weren't sure if the site was genuine, this was mainly use to them spotting spelling mistakes. (Most internet safety advice tells you that spelling mistakes etc are a warning sign and to avoid using the site.)

Update: After setting up the class gift campaign in April, I got half the of the classes parents to contribute via Flendr. they all found it easy to use and would be happy to use it again and would use it for their workplaces, which I thought was good!
I've had the money raised, transferred to our Class Rep, but am going to have to chase for the extra £10 as it hasn't automatically been added to the total.

InMySpareTime · 15/07/2016 17:42

I haven't got the extra £10 either.

mummyofcutetwo · 16/08/2016 23:20

I didn't get the extra £10 either

Update to my earlier feedback:
The parents who used Flendr to contribute to end of year teacher collections liked it - they found it easy to use and convenient. However, a lot of parents were put off by it. They either bought their own individual gifts or waited to give me cash on the rare occasions I was at school pick up.

However I would still use it again, and recommend it to others.

InMySpareTime · 28/08/2016 21:06

Got a message that the Flendr collections are all closing and money collected being sent to bank accounts, but still not had the £10 promised from Flendr.
MNHQ can you please chase this, I'm not the only one.

Hi Mumsnetters, apologies to those who haven't yet received their £10. I am investigating this now and will get back to you asap.

Just wondering what the situation is regarding the £10 additional payment? I definitely qualified for this but I still haven't received anything...

MN could you please look into it for me? Thank you!
