We asked 500 MNers (and 150-200 of their teenage daughters) to try FabLittleBag during their periods – this is the thread for their reviews, comments and feedback. Some testers were also teenage girls (daughters of MNers).

The team at FabLittleBag say – “our new bags use clever finger loops to make tampon disposal easy, discreet and hygienic. The biodegradable bags are opaque and seal closed. They provide confident disposal every time, anywhere. We believe they are the best solution to tampon disposal. Period.
They come in a handbag pack of 5 perfect for ensuring confident disposal when out and about, and a bathroom pack of 20 to keep at home next to your tampons. You top up your handbag pack from your bathroom pack as needs be”.

FabLittleBag’s are available now at Waitrose, Ocado and //www.fablittlebag.com – plus they will be available at Wholefoods from March. Bathroom Packs of 20 bags £2.99 and the re-fillable HandBag Pack £1.99 includes 5 bags for on the go use.

OK but took a few goes to master it

Any problems with them?

Took a bit of practice at home just messing around to work out how to use easily

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons? How?

Yes, usually flushed them away.

Would you continue to buy them?

Yes, but only if my mum buys them!

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?

not something me n my mates usually discuss, unless sponsored by a vlogger!

Any other thoughts?

Mum says they are expensive but we will get them for hols and days out

Would you continue to buy them? Yes but price is a big factor.
Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users? Yes I have told my friend about them.
Any other thoughts?

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?

I found them really easy to use and store in my handbag.

Where did you use them? Please describe how you used them

I mostly used them in the house. I had flushed or used nappy bags in the past but the nappy bags were too transparent these were perfect. I used them out at a pub when I ended up in a cubicle without a bin (I forgot to look first). In the past I would have just flushed but this time I had an alternative!

Any problems with them?

Bit fiddly at first but you get the hang of it.

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons? How?

Yes I would carry them with me out and about.

Would you continue to buy them?

Yes but for the price I would use them sparingly and only out of the house when flushing is the only option.

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?

I would definitely as they're great if caught without an alternative to flushing, they're discrete and once u get the hang of it they're easy to use.

Any other thoughts?

Great product.

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?
Easy & really handy & convenient.

Where did you use them? Please describe how you used them
At friends & family homes where there wasn't a designated sanitary bin.

Any problems with them?
No

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons? How? Not really as I never flushed tampons, but I always wrap them in toilet roll - these bags take that job away so it's a bit nicer.

Would you continue to buy them?
Possibly if at a reasonable price!

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users? Yes

Any other thoughts?
I really think they are a brilliant idea. More for if I'm going somewhere where I know there will probably not be a specified sanitary bin like friends or family homes.

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?
They were fairly simple to use, a little fiddly but not excessively. Found or a little tricky with large tampons.

Where did you use them?
At home

Please describe how you used them
Placed tampon in after use!

Any problems with them?
Just found the opening a bit too small when using large tampons.

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons?
No

How?
N/A

Would you continue to buy them?
No they are far to expensive so what they are.

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?
No because of the price.

Any other thoughts?
I think it's a nice / novel idea but in reality it is an unless art expense and with the price being so high I doubt people would buy them. If they came with a box a tampons I would probably keep a couple in my bag and use but wouldn't it posey buy them.

Great! Really practical, well designed.

Where did you use them?

Mostly at home. Would have Been so good to take them camping though.

Please describe how you used them

Er, I took the tape seal off, put it in the bag, then put my thumb and finger through the loops, opened the bag, put the tampon in and sealed and binned.

Any problems with them?

No

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons?

Yes

How? Bin instead of flush.

Would you continue to buy them? No, too dear, but would consider buying paper disposal bags instead.

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users? Yes

Any other thoughts?

I think the name is,a bit daft, and wound prefer a plain bag, not one with writing on. It would be more discreet.

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?
Well designed and easy to use.

Where did you use them? Please describe how you used them
At home, put in bathroom bin.

Any problems with them?
No problems.

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons? How?
Yes, much prefer them all wrapped up securely than in tissue.

Would you continue to buy them?
Only if on special offer, have heavy periods and it'd be expensive to add these on to my already high period costs!

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?
Probably not, but only because I'm prudish about talking about periods. If a relative or friend was talking about needing a better way to dispose of tampons, then I might mention them!

Thank you for the samples. Here is my feedback:

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?
Loved the packaging - pretty without being pink!! Liked the handy size and they were generally very easy and convenient to use.

Where did you use them? Please describe how you used them
I went abroad on a family holiday in April and took these with me. Used the main pack to dispose of tampons in our accommodation, and took the handy pack out in my bag.

Any problems with them?
None

Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons? How?
I usually use bags so no radical change, but these were a much more convenient / attractive than nappy bags.

Would you continue to buy them?

Probably not for home use as much more expensive than other bags, but I think I would buy them for going away / holidays because of the size, design, and discreetness.

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?
Yes, especially for when travelling

Any other thoughts?
I didn't really think the 'one hand' feature was necessary / possible but maybe that's just me!

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?

I found them really convenient especially to use while at friends houses.
Where did you use them? Please describe how you used them
As above, I used them while visiting friends houses and also when I stayed in a caravan for a weekend.
Any problems with them?

No real problems though I think the opening could be a bit wider to make it easier to put the tampons in..
Do you think they have changed how you dispose of tampons? How?

I usually flush, I think these have made me realise it's easy to bag and bin, and I'll try to continue that.
Would you continue to buy them?

I think I'll always keep a pack in my bag for outside, but they're too expensive for me to use throughout my whole period
Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?

Yes definitely

Any other thoughts?

Just as I mentioned above, the opening needs to be a bit wider..

I used them to dispose of tampons and pads.
I used them while out and at home and work.
I would prefer them to be a bit larger so that pads can be disposed of more easily in them.
I found them easy to use.
I would probably buy them for going to somewhere I was worried might not have disposal facilities but they are too expensive for me to use every time.
It has made me realise that I should not flush!
If they came with tampons this would make it more attractive.

I found them really easy to use, they are really convenient and hygienic-they are a lot cleaner and less messier than toilet paper! I think they are a fab invention!
I used them at home to begin with and then I kept them in my handbag for when I was out and about, they are very discreet and well hidden. I didn't have any problems with them although I do think they should be a little bit bigger, I don't feel this would make any difference to how discreet they are but it would make them a lot easier and less fiddly to use! They haven't changed now I would usually dispose of them as I have never flushed anyway. I wouldn't buy them due to the price, at the end of the day they are only bags-nice ones though lol! I would recommend them to someone if they mentioned having problems with their current method or if they told me they flush them. No other thoughts-thank you for the task!

Just an update

Just back from a holiday with a box of Tampax and packet of fab ltitle bags. Period decided to be late and start on departure date
neither airport nor plane (odd as modern dreamliner ) had a st disposal bin so I felt happy popping a used tampon in the bin inside a sealed bag
big thumbs up

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 05/05/2016 12:38

I would be happy to pay £2 for 20 larger bags that could fit towels and carry the small 5 pack in my handbag for emergencies when I can't dispose of the towel any other way.

As I said before, I think they are a fab idea for when you are out and about, but too expensive to use for every tampon.

How did you find it using the FabLittleBags generally?
me: Ok, but I would prefer something a bit bigger. I have heavy periods so use a super tampon & a liner. Would prefer something that would fit both or at least a super tampon.
dd: Ok but a little fiddly taking the little strip off, when on your fingers. Had to push the tampon down the bag, so would prefer if it was bigger.

Where did you use them? Please describe how you used them
me: on holiday & whilst travelling home by plane.
dd: at home.

Any problems with them?
both : only that they could be a little bigger. Also whilst I thought they were pretty bags, I think a darker colour would be more discreet.

Do you think they have changed ihow you dispose of tampons? How?
Only putting them in the bag rather than wrapping in toilet paper. Did not flush before anyway.

Would you continue to buy them?
me:I might get the occasional pack for when travelling, sleepovers etc but not a regular monthly purchase due to the cost.
dd: If we had them in the house she would be happy to use them, but she's not demanding that I buy them for her

Would you recommend them to other women who are tampon users?
me: not of the age where we normally discuss periods
dd: not something she would discuss when friends.

Any other thoughts?
both: Thanks for letting us take part in the trial
