Kenwood have asked us to find 20 Mumsnetters to try their kCook cooking food processor.

Here’s what they say, “Whipping up a one-pot wonder for your family has never been easier thanks to the new kCook cooking food processor from Kenwood which not only chops and stirs, but also cooks delicious dishes at the touch of a few buttons. All this, plus a fantastic specially-developed recipe app to provide a little inspiration at every meal time, makes the kCook the new must-have kitchen essential.

The three bowl tools coupled with the app make the laborious tasks of thinking up a meal, preparing ingredients and endlessly stirring over a hot stove a thing of the past. Simply follow one of over 200 recipes available on the app, or adapt them to your taste using the kCook’s manual modes which allow the speeds and temperatures to be changed.”

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters.

Those who are selected to will receive a kCook (RRP £329.99). Testers will be required to post their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet in order to be allowed to keep the product.

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck

Mine has just arrived. Just got DD down for an early nap and DS should be following suite soon hopefully - looking forward to unwrapping it!

macaroonmayhem · 18/06/2015 12:23

Mine arrived too. Initial concern is that it's quite small - great for storage but not so good for my batch cooking style. Anyway, going to attempt soup right now!!!!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/06/2015 12:41

Currently in the middle of sweet potato and chorizo soup. I used the keek and potato recipe bit it's not cooked the sweet potato enough and the machine nearly took off when I attempted to blend it which was a bit scary particularly as bits of soup started escaping from the bowl (and I had carefully not over-filled it)

I've now gone free style and am cooking the soup for another 15 minutes.

I'm not sure if it will be big enough for 4 adult portions of a main course. DH is 6 foot 6 and eats a lot! But I'm going to try a chicken casserole for when parents arrive tomorrow.

Also agree that I'm not sure it's big enough for true batch cooking - but I understand that obviously it would need to be massive for that and it's not designed for that.

The chopper is very good and I was also impressed at how well it softened the onion, garlic and chorizo - I thought the surface area would be too small.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/06/2015 12:59

Back on for another 20 minutes now. I'm a bit confused as to why it's taking so long to cook little cubes of sweet potato

It is on the highest setting Confused

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/06/2015 13:12

Bloody hell - blending soft soup with the stirring paddle (which it says in the leek and potato recipe you can do) is terrifying. Soup flying all over the place Shock

Anyway. Have replaced the paddle with the chopping one and normal service has been resumed.

Soup is quite watery but I think that's my fault for putting in too much stock - although it was only 450mls which is much less than the leek and potato recipe which is 750.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/06/2015 13:19

Um. Now can't get the bowl off the thing. Seems (from instructions) that you need to remove the lid and expose the hot contents before trying to wrestle the bowl off the stand Confused

macaroonmayhem · 18/06/2015 13:34

My soup (carrot and sweet potato) wasn't cooked enough following the leek and potáto recipe for timings. And I would have liked it more blended -I will switch to the chopper thing at the end next time.

Now got a spag Bol on the go, which I had saved making until it arrived. Will report back in an hour. I have gone totally freestyle with the cooking times though.

FeelingSmurfy · 18/06/2015 14:41

Mine arrived 5 minutes before I had to head out to a hospital appointment, I think I will have to wait until tomorrow to use it as I need something quick and easy when I get back Smile in future this will be my quick and easy! I need to get it set up and instructions read first though. I can't wait until the house is quiet tonight and I can have a play...I wonder if anyone would notice if I put the clocks forward...Grin

NerrSnerr · 18/06/2015 15:27

Mine has just arrived so I'm looking through the instructions (and my 9 month old is investigating the box and the spatula- she approves so far).

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/06/2015 15:46

Managed to get the bowl off (must take out whatever tool is in it) and the soup was good. Not as well processed as would have been in magimix or with hand blender but ok.

However, I think the soup timings using the programme in the recipe book are all over the place if you want to use any hard root vegetable. Cannot work out how their potato cooked in the time given.

kCookTester · 18/06/2015 17:50

Mine is here and I have name changed for the occasion Wink

NerrSnerr · 18/06/2015 17:57

I have made the Macaroni cheese (an adapted dairy free recipe). It worked really well. The recipe didn't use the chop function so will try that next.

macaroonmayhem · 18/06/2015 18:01

My spag bol is really watery - because the lid has to be on in order for it to cook, the liquid doesn't get a chance to reduce down to a nice thick sauce. So my choices are to fiddle with the recipe to reduce the initial liquid content or put it in a saucepan and simmering it, which seems to negate the point of it!

I love the concept of it though, it's lovely to be not faffing around with a processor, pan and blender.

VolumniaDedlock · 18/06/2015 18:02

I didn't check my emails, but arrived home to a large box from Kenwood tucked in the porch! Thank you very much Flowers.
I have had a little peep inside and it all looks a bit intimidating, but I'll get it figured out over the weekend I'm sure.

VolumniaDedlock · 18/06/2015 18:06

just a quick query - do we have to stick to the recipes provided, or can we go off-piste? I don't even have a slow cooker so anything that's not a pan is enough to confuse me.

FeelingSmurfy · 18/06/2015 19:37

Good to know about the bolognese sauce, that is what I am most looking forward to making

Chocolateporridge · 18/06/2015 20:50

I was a bit better overwhelmed when I opened mine, it all seemed a bit complicated, but I've bit the bullet and adapted the rice pudding recipe tonight, will report back!

macaroonmayhem · 18/06/2015 20:57

I made my usual spag Bol recipe (Delia's!) using a whole carton of passata, Next time I'll use half passata, half tomato purée I think to reduce the liquid content. The consistency of the mince is great though thanks to the constant stirring - no lumpy bits at all!

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 18/06/2015 21:21

I think reducing the liquid is key. It's a bit like a slow cooker - as macaroon says, you can't take the lid off so there's no evaporation.

I'm wondering about the risotto recipe and how that will be........

Bambooshoots14 · 18/06/2015 21:39

It's here! Hopefully have a play tomorrow

FeelingSmurfy · 18/06/2015 22:25

I have had a read of the instructions and have ordered shopping for tomorrow so that I have everything I need for bolognese Grin very excited!!

Butteredparsnips · 18/06/2015 22:27

Aww was really hoping to be picked for this. Hope you all enjoy your creations.

Chocolateporridge · 18/06/2015 22:34

Can't you just open take the stopper out of the liquid hole thingy in the lid to aid evaporation?

My rice pudding was amazing!

Bambooshoots14 · 19/06/2015 09:44

Was it the coconut rice pudding? Looks yum
