Kenwood have asked us to find 20 Mumsnetters to try their kCook cooking food processor.

Here’s what they say, “Whipping up a one-pot wonder for your family has never been easier thanks to the new kCook cooking food processor from Kenwood which not only chops and stirs, but also cooks delicious dishes at the touch of a few buttons. All this, plus a fantastic specially-developed recipe app to provide a little inspiration at every meal time, makes the kCook the new must-have kitchen essential.

The three bowl tools coupled with the app make the laborious tasks of thinking up a meal, preparing ingredients and endlessly stirring over a hot stove a thing of the past. Simply follow one of over 200 recipes available on the app, or adapt them to your taste using the kCook’s manual modes which allow the speeds and temperatures to be changed.”

This product test is open to all UK Mumsnetters.

Those who are selected to will receive a kCook (RRP £329.99). Testers will be required to post their feedback on a thread on Mumsnet in order to be allowed to keep the product.

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck

I've just seen you can use it for chutney and jam :)

The app for the CCC200WH (the model I have) doesn't have an option for recipes in English and I speak no German, Portugese or Italian.

I wonder if the cooking times will be very different from those for the other model?

bamboo no, I just used the instructions on my packet of pudding rice, using the settings in the ap for rice pudding, it worked great!

Dh made our family porridge in it this morning, it turned out so thick it would have stuck to the ceiling, so we'll add more milk tomorrow, but it was much creamier than when I microwave it.

Got picked as well! Now sitting on my countertop. So far have only used steamer function - worked well but with pole in middle made it quite difficult to fit what I was steaming (roti) in the steamer - for chopped up veg only I think - difficult to see how you could get most fish in there unless teeny fillets....

Flisspaps- are you using apple app ---if you are just scroll down english is near the bottom...they aren't alphabetical.
And make sure you have the right app...not the Kenwood recipe one which is a whisk with a K in it. It is the one with a grey K in a grey circle.

I am making the Chicken Tagine from the app; it should be ready in 10 minutes but it doesn't look anywhere near ready, it doesn't seem very hot, the chicken nor the butternut squash look cooked. I cut them small after reading on here that the butternut squash took ages.

Making bolognese. Not impressed first impressions. Lid really sticks and very hard to get on. Think id take it back if I'd bought it :(

kCookTester · 19/06/2015 20:44

Our tagine was v v nice but I agree with the tight awkward lid.
removing the seal from the lid for cleaning is v primitive for a high tech gadget.....use a teaspoon to ease it out! Shock

kCook thanks for that, hadn't thought to scroll as there was no indication the list continued Blush

Agree with comments about the tight fitting lid. DH fought with it earlier.

We've made chilli. Very wet, as no steam escaped and we'd reduced the liquid ingredients from our usual recipe. Keep warm feature seemed to keep it warm at a cooler temperature than I'd anticipated, certainly not piping hot.

I left the little lid bit off when doing bologese and wasn't too wet (but did cook beef with onion etc before adding tomatoes and drained the fat/ juice) and also cooked for 30 mins longer

Bologese recipe is for soup setting for 35 mins. Mine only goes to 30 min?!

Report
Flisspaps · 19/06/2015 21:49

DH noticed that too Bamboo - hardly convenient to go back to the machine to add another 5 minutes of cooking time on after the 30 mins (we used the bolognese timings to make the chilli)

Oh gosh! Was coming on jere to see if anyone elses had arrived (mine yesterday evening) and you've all been using it! Mine is still sat wrapped up on the table. But looking forward to having a proper play this weekend.

Thanks for the tips about liquid. So just like the slow cooker then? Does anyone know if this can be used like a slow cooker? Can i put whole ingredients in for dinner and come home to a stew/soup/risotto? Wink

I have flu Sad serious can't get out of bed flu, my machine is down there waiting and I have all the ingredients! Will try it out asap and report back

Does anyone know if all reviews/comments need to be here or elsewhere, and when the final reviews need to be done by? Meal planning for the next two weeks to try and use it in as many ways as possible. Most looking forward to bolognese but think I will use it a lot for steaming, we eat lots of fresh veg but no steamer so always boiled which loses some of the nutrients

Helloo! Have been out and got ingredients to make Coleslaw, the apple cake thingy and the cheesecake.

I have got the gadget out of the box. First thoughts are the bowl seems very small and the lid seems a bit unpredictable....

I made macaroni cheese tonight, it takes 45 minutes!! However, it was very good and i liked the idea of having all the ingredients measured out and then just tossing them in the bowl as and when the beeps tell me to. However.....I pressed a wrong button at the end of stage one and I found it very difficult to get back to where I needed to be in the process. Ended up having to switch it off and switch it on again, start again and manually alter stage 1 to one minute then wait til that finished and I got back to where I was again. All a bit of a faff. But the end product was delicious!!

Making chilli in it this morning for DH to reheat later because I'll be out for the afternoon/evening. Making it to my own recipe but using the timings in the Kenwood chilli recipe. I have to say, I'm really starting to like the one-pot aspect of it. Normally I'd have chopped all the veg in the food processor first, so not having to do that (and the extra washing up!) is a bonus.

Trying the Gambian groundnut stew tonight - so far looks good but we'll see! Interesting how there are different stages in the one pot programme.

We have attempted the cheesecake, did it by the book. It did what it was supposed to do, cheesecake in fridge. I think it looks quite runny but we shall see. Biscuit crushing, and mixing was good.

How's everyone getting on with the cleaning? Can you shove it all in the dishwasher? What about the metal spiky bits?

Coleslaw to be attempted next. Plus something hot.

oh dear, I am not getting on well with this.
I used it to steam some veg - mangetout and asparagus - on Saturday. It was slow, and much more awkward to use than the steamer tray that fits over my large saucepan.

I have just started making lentil and bacon soup. The chopping function worked fine for the onion and celery base. The veg is now softening, but I'm not sure the bacon will brown. I am concerned about the capacity of the bowl though - I don't think the ingredients are going to fit!

Sparklingbrook · 22/06/2015 09:56

I should be making the Coleslaw but a bit nervous. Cheesecake is like mousse after a night in the fridge.

I have reduced the stock considerably
It's not looking great TBH

I think at the weekend I need to try the app recipes - this we'd had the online shop booked before I found out that we'd been selected to test the kcook.

Groundnut stew worked very well - was off their app. Beef lovely and tender and sauce nice and thick. I think will continue to use their recipes only until I get the hang of how the different settings work and how the machine deals with various things. Was a very relaxed way of cooking - plenty of time to chop without having to worry about stirring the meat while it browned.

Have mostly used steamer basket for other things (refreshing some stale bagels, warming up some leftover chinese dimsum) - worked well enough for that but agree takes some time - but I tend to just leave it while I get on with other things.

Whirring noise as it works doesn't bother me, but drives my mother a bit bonkers.
