Hedrin is looking for around 250 MNers who have who have someone in their family who currently has head lice to try out their Spray Gel and to report back on MN. All selected testers who add their feedback will be entered into a prize draw to win £200 John Lewis voucher.

Hedrin say "Head lice remedies have traditionally required a second application to kill lice that have hatched since the original treatment - where they were protected in the egg. Hedrin Once Spray Gel has been shown, in a clinical trial, to eradicate the infestation of live lice and the un-hatched eggs with a single application. This removes the need for repeat treatments and laborious combing, making the process of managing head lice easier than ever before.

"Hedrin Once Spray Gel is a silicone-based, skin-friendly non-pesticide formula that is pleasant for children and easy for parents to use. The active ingredient, dimeticone, kills lice by blocking the opening to their air tubes and disrupting their ability to manage water. Its physical method of killing head lice prevents them developing a resistance – a common problem with traditional pesticide treatments. Available in Boots and pharmacies nationwide, Hedrin Once is available in a spray gel format priced from £7.14 for 60ml".

Visit www.hedrin.co.uk for further information.

Note: You should only use this is you have definitely got a live head louse. Please read the instructions carefully.

Hedrin Once is suitable for adults and children over 6 months of age. We are looking for Mumsnetters who have head lice themselves, or who’s LO currently have head lice.

If you're selected you will be sent a 60ml bottle - you'd need to spray sufficient gel evenly over dry hair, to ensure that the scalp and hair are fully covered and the hair is saturated - RRP £7.14. You can elect to receive 2 bottles per household if more than one person is affected or if you think you'd need 2 bottles to treat one person (eg long hair)

Hedrin Once is "specially formulated with non-volatile ingredients and clinically proven to kill head lice in one go. It should be left on the hair for at least 15 minutes (or longer if more convenient).

To remove, apply shampoo directly to the entire surface of dry hair without first wetting it, shampoo thoroughly then rinse with water. Repeat the process, then apply conditioner, rinse and dry. Hedrin Once contains anti-foaming ingredients so the shampoo will not lather readily. If necessary, repeat the whole procedure remembering to apply shampoo directly to dry hair".

We intend to recruit daily to ship out the products to you as soon as possible so that you can test it out while you still have a use for it!

We'd like you to try it at home with your infested child/ family member and to then give feedback on a thread on MN and also to complete a short survey giving your overall opinion of the product.

Everyone who adds their feedback as required will be entered into a prize draw where on tester will win a £200 John Lewis voucher.

To sign up please complete this add your details on this link

We will email you confirmation.

Thanks,
MNHQ

SocialMediaAddict · 25/03/2015 20:37

Yes please. My twins have it. Just combing isn't working.

dontcallnotdating · 25/03/2015 21:12

My three dc have them - would like to test please

bonzo77 · 26/03/2015 15:39

Perfect timing: 2 children and one adult in our house have had it this week! Ugh. Really anything to make treatment easier, quicker and more effective would be so welcome.

froggyjump · 26/03/2015 19:43

yes please! found more again today....

SlightlyJaded · 26/03/2015 22:47

We have tried everything. Every product, every 'alternative treatment'

I have used straighteners on DDs hair to burn them alive

And we have even tried...

...an actual vacuum cleaner.

Four years. FOUR YEARS.

Yes please :)

TheBrokenDrum · 27/03/2015 11:05

Mine arrived in the post today - will give it a go today/tomorrow Grin Fingers crossed - DD has very thick, fine, below waist length hair and I just can't seem to get rid of the critters with the nitty gritty comb.

SoonToBeSix · 27/03/2015 20:26

I applied yesterday the Hedrin arrived today.

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/03/2015 20:41

Mine arrived today too. DD2 has very thick, curly, waist length hair...

TheBrokenDrum · 27/03/2015 20:57

I have to admit I don't envy those of you with dc that have thick, long hair! Ds1 has short hair and it's painful (for me) enough to get him treated and combed.

Here, have Wine Wine to bolster you Grin

threelittlebigpigs · 27/03/2015 21:38

Yes please. Two dc & me all stuck with them. I've been trying to get rid of them for weeks. Loads of Nitty Gritty combing & other remedies but our super thick curly hair isn't helping. I am completely fed up with the whole saga.

Doubtfuldaphne · 28/03/2015 07:38

I got mine so quickly thank you Mumsnet and Hedrin!
I applied it on my dd's hair and they're GONE! it was really easy to apply and spotted a few dead ones once the lotion had done its magic.
It seems to be much more effective than a different brand I used last week. I think the other brand had chemicals in it that don't work the same way.
I combed through dd's hair making sure no eggs were left and now, I think we've finally found the light at the end of the head lice tunnel!
What's even better is that it doesn't smell awful which is what I remember about the stuff my mum used to put on me. It also works a lot quicker!

AnnMumsnet · 28/03/2015 10:41

yay ! feedback thread coming on Monday!

mine arrived today, so will try tonight!

GatoNaranja · 28/03/2015 17:38

Yes please! For me and dd2 ??

Madeyemoodysmum · 28/03/2015 20:34

Can I ask those that have used it. It was easy to apply but getting it off is hard. My D's hair still looks really greasy. Did you let your sleep in it or do a second wash of shampoo straight away? Its his bedtime now so I really don't watn to drag him to the bath again. Help?!

2cats2many · 28/03/2015 22:10

Yes please for my two. We've had the buggers for two months now and they are proving to be very resilient this time.

nerysw · 29/03/2015 08:43

School have 'The Nits' as my daughter dramatically put it.

Marmitelover55 · 29/03/2015 15:57

Well I've just used it on DD and it took most of the two bottles. It hadnt washed out very well yet but that will be a small price to pay if its worked. Just wondered how I will know? I can see v small lice in her hair (yuck) which I assume are dead. If I use the nitty gritty in a few days I'm not sure how I will know if what comes out is dead of alive??

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/03/2015 16:16

I used the nit comb yesterday, got out a few lice, mostly dead, one crawler, then did the Hedrin this morning. I used most of one bottle, only on the scalp, then washed it as instructed. You need A LOT of shampoo, put it on the dry hair, rub in well, then rinse out. We just needed one more shampoo to clear the Hedrin from the hair.

I noticed when we were rinsing the Hedrin from the hair that a few lice (dead) washed away. I think we got most of the nits out yesterday, as I didn't notice anymore in the hair today, but will have another go at it with the nit comb tomorrow.

ArcheryAnnie · 29/03/2015 16:18

Madeyemoodysmum the trick is that you DO NOT WET THE HAIR before applying the shampoo - you dump the neat shampoo directly on the hedrin'd head and work it in before you even think of applying water.

You do need to use a lot of shampoo, and you do need to shampoo a few times before you yoink them out of the bath - but it's worth it.

(I've found that it actually leaves our hair very glossy and well-conditioned, once we have all the hedrin out.)
