We've been asked by the team at YouView to find 15 UK Mumsnetters to try out on demand TV service YouView and to share their feedback on Mumsnet.

We're looking for TV addicts keen to enjoy the usual free-to-air channels plus catch up and on demand programmes, with record pause and rewind functionality, all on your TV. Would suit a Mumsnetter looking to switch from their current TV provider or who want to add this set-top box to another TV in their home. Testers should be in the UK and have at least one child at home.

We are looking to have testers adding feedback over October half term so please only apply if you're at home in the last 2 weeks in October.

YouView says:

"YouView is an on demand TV service with over 70 live free-to-air digital TV and radio channels. It seamlessly combines seven day catch-up on BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD and Demand 5 with a library of on demand television programmes and films. A range of quality content is available via on demand players from Dave, Yesterday and Really imagined by UKTV, Now TV, Sky Store, milkshake!, S4C and STV. YouView has record, pause and rewind TV functionality as well as a simple search feature.

YouView is offered as part of broadband subscription bundles from TalkTalk and BT. It is also available to buy subscription-free from all major retailers and many independent electrical stores".

For more information visit: www.youview.com, on Twitter @YouView and Facebook at www.facebook.com/youview

There are some technical requirements for this product test:

~ To set up a YouView set-top box you need to connect it to your TV via a HDMI cable or SCART lead, to your TV aerial and to your broadband router via an Ethernet cable

~ If your router is more than 2 metres from your box you'll need to use a powerline adapter, which YouView will supply with the set-top box

~ Please note that use of the YouView set-top box requires a suitable broadband speed (at least 3MBs) and coverage. Free-to-air channels are available via digital TV aerial only

YouView also says: "The service has pause, rewind, fast-forward and record functionality for live TV giving you more flexibility when enjoying your favourite TV programmes. We also offer the option to record one show while watching another, gives reminders to let you know a programme is about to start and has up to 300 hours (500GB) of storage space for your programme recordings in MyView"

Please read all about YouView here

Before you apply please ensure you check your details here - checker.youview.com/ to ensure you can receive the YouView service at home and check you have unlimited broadband as this is recommended.

If you're selected to take part you will be sent a YouView Humax DTR-T2000 set-top box worth £199 - you'll be asked to install it at home, try it and add feedback at least twice to a thread on Mumsnet. You'll be asked to add your first impressions and then to add extra feedback a week or two later to share what you've been watching, recording, pausing and how you and your family are finding YouView. We'll also ask you to add a review to the reviews area on Mumsnet.

If you'd like to take part please add your details here

If you add feedback as required, you will be able to keep the set-top box.

Thanks and good luck

Love to try this and give feedback.

citruslemon · 01/10/2014 20:35

Just thought my broadband is with Virgin and not the providers mentioned.

MrsPiddlewink · 01/10/2014 21:31

Would love to try this. We are sick of giving SKY our money and our contract is up at the end of October. The only thing that keeps us hooked is the '+' bit. We watch everything on catch up and would not cope without a pause button! This looks fab

MrsPiddlewink · 01/10/2014 21:36

Sad our broadband isn't fast enough

pigsinmud · 02/10/2014 13:11

Would love to try this. We are currently with BT Vision, but the box is hopeless - keeps crashing. I had no idea you could get You View without being tied to BT or Talk Talk.

KraggleLego · 02/10/2014 13:51

Done!

topsmart · 02/10/2014 17:47

Mumsnet, when do you think it likely that MNers will be picked? We are fairly desperate to get rid of sky so I'd love to know if we can get a box. Thankyewthankyewthankyew Grin

eachpeachbarebum · 03/10/2014 00:13

Hi . we'd love to try this please! We got rid of sky over the summer but are missing the on demand facility. I was going to look at something like this but wasn't sure where to start.

notoneforselfies · 03/10/2014 09:16

Oh fingers crossed I get picked - didn't realise there was really an alternative to sky and virgin... Working from home with an 8 month old I watch a LOT of telly!

HeartStarCircleSquare · 03/10/2014 15:27

Actually I should have said on the survey that as a sahp it would be nice to finally get to watch some decent telly in the day!

gemima27 · 03/10/2014 20:25

This would keep the little ones very entertained, great to pause while other routines like dinner time take place then let them resume. Stop a few tantrums!

Wilford · 04/10/2014 19:16

Stay away from powerline adaptors if possible. Far better to use a longer cable to connect to your router. Anything up to 100m can be safely used

webminx · 04/10/2014 21:17

Hi - would love to test. Have 2 kids and have just cancelled our sky sub so now just have freesat without any pause/record function, much to our 4 yo's dismay... Would be delighted to test

SoonToBeSix · 04/10/2014 22:56

Hope I am picked Smile

juneybean · 06/10/2014 00:57

I'd like to try please :)

andadietcoke · 07/10/2014 13:08

Hello! Apparently YouView have tried to deliver a box today but I hadn't heard anything about being picked - have I missed out on an exciting email? Thank you anyway, veh exciting.

popelloucla · 07/10/2014 13:21

I've just received a YouView box.

I assume this means I've been selected to review it.

DH very excited.

MTBMummy · 07/10/2014 14:41

DH just texted me to say we have a YouView box, very excited to be picked thank you, although haven't received an email either, I'm guessing we'll get one soon

AnnMumsnet · 07/10/2014 15:35

Gah - they were quick deliveries!!!! Email going out in a mo!

pigsinmud · 07/10/2014 15:57

Oh I really wanted to take part in this one, but I'm not feeling lucky today!

mjmooseface · 07/10/2014 17:34

Crikey! Yesterday, I received the most random and vague text ever:''Your order will be delivered 7 Oct by DPD...''

I thought, okay, that must be the pampers nappies from that product test I'm waiting for. Or, maybe it's that popup tent I ordered for my son's birthday.

This morning, I got another text saying: ''Your DPD driver Paul will deliver your order today 12:11-13:11...''

I was still none the wiser as to what this mystery delivery could be!

When that time came around, there was a loud pounding on my door! There was a man holding a big box with the biggest, yellowest label that said 'DO NOT LEAVE WITH A NEIGHBOUR'

I opened it up, fully expecting to see possible gold plated pampers nappies and I see the word 'Youview'!

4 hours later, I get an email from MN saying I'd been selected for this product test.

Lol

What a crazy 24 hours! ;)

Thank you MN and Youview! The box looks great! So sleek and shiny. I am very excited to see what my 'up to 156mb' speed internet will look like on this set top box!

pigsinmud · 07/10/2014 17:38

I'm so jealous Sad

Dinesaur · 07/10/2014 17:56

OMG! I had a message yesterday to say a parcel would be delivered, click this link and I thought it was a scam! Came home just now and I have a box! I'm so happy!

AnnMumsnet · 07/10/2014 18:06

Ah sorry it caught some of you out...Smile
