We've been asked by PruHealth to find 10 Mumsnetters to take part in their Vitality Experience designed to introduce the full range of discounts, benefits and rewards available by being a PruHealth with Vitality member.

This 2-month long challenge is aimed especially towards Mumsnetters looking to make healthier lifestyle choices for themselves as well as their families. You don?t need to be an existing PruHealth member to take part, just be in the market for easier ways to make healthy choices for you and your family.

Here's what PruHealth have to say:

"We believe the more you look after yourself, the healthier you feel. That's why we offer our customers Vitality when they buy our health insurance. Vitality is the world's largest incentive-based wellness programme and can make getting and staying healthy both easier and cheaper, but also reward you for all of your hard work!"

The Vitality Experience will kick off at PruHealth HQ in central London on Friday 17th January. Where you'll be provided with everything you'll need, including a Vitality Healthcheck to better understand your health, advice on healthy eating from a qualified nutritionist and an exercise plan designed by a Virgin Active personal trainer to get you on your way.

Each week participants will be presented with a new Vitality benefit - from earning additional Nectar points when you buy healthy foods at Sainsbury's, taking advantage of discounts at Virgin Active or treating the family to a trip to the cinema! Vitality aims to make healthy living fun, easy and rewarding.

Below you'll find a full schedule of the Vitality Experience:

Week 1 - Get Gyming - Kick start your January resolutions with a free 2-month pass to a Virgin Active gym and £50 to spend on new gym gear at Sweatshop.
Week 2 - 5-a-Day - Get £50 worth of Nectar points to spend on healthy food choices at Sainsbury's.
Week 3 - Step It Up - Get motivated to increase your daily step count with your new FitBug pedometer.
Week 4 - Family Treat - Take the family out on a trip to the cinema with £40 worth of vouchers to either Cineworld or Vue cinemas.
Week 5 - Half-Term & Half-Time - Check in with your Virgin Active personal trainer for a free 1hr session to boost your gym routine.
Week 6 - Discounts Dispensed - Get £25 worth of vouchers to test drive our up to 50% cashback at Lloyds Pharmacy benefit.
Week 7 - Choose Your Reward - Take your pick between discounts to Merlin attractions, National Trust parks or travel with Eurostar, Mark Warner or Mr & Mrs Smith getaways.
Week 8 - Wrap Up - Finish the Vitality Experience with a day of pampering at Champney's spa.

Participants selected will be required to give regular feedback (at least once a week) on the MN thread to report back on how they're finding each of the benefits as well as to give support to the other MNers participating in the Vitality Experience.

To take part we're looking for MNers who:

~ Are able to attend the launch day in central London, kicking off at 10am on Friday 17th January (transport costs will be covered).
~ Can commit to taking part in each of the weekly experiences above between the 17th January and 14th March.
~ Are able to do their food shopping at a Sainsbury's store, access a Virgin Active gym and have either a Cineworld or Vue cinema nearby (NB: this excludes Virgin Active gyms at Clements Hall, Rayleigh or Chiswick Riverside).
~ Are able to document their experience on a weekly basis via the Mumsnet thread as well as by video blog on the handheld flipcam provided (which you can keep as an additional thank you!).
~ Are able to attend the wrap up day at Champney's Spa in Tring on Friday 14th March (transport costs will be covered).
~ Are happy for PruHealth to use your feedback on the experience across their future marketing materials and/or website - inclusive of photography, video or print where relevant.

If you'd like to be considered please add your details here and we'll be in touch with selected MNers asap.

Any questions please post below.

Thanks and good luck!

Sounds interesting, but could they accomodate someone who is 21 - 29 weeks pregnant for the duration of the trials? Wink

MTBMummy · 09/01/2014 12:24

I'd be very interested, but I know some gyms are really funny about taking on pregnant women, would they consider me?

janx · 09/01/2014 12:54

I can't find where to sign up - am on phone app

rlouisa · 09/01/2014 12:59

oh would have loved to do this cos i need some encouragement on a healthier lifestyle, but i dont feel comfortable filming myself...very shy

Giflow · 09/01/2014 13:07

Like alot of women this year I and, with a push, my daughter have embarked on a healthier lifestyle. Food choices and qunantiy control and with access to a really lovely Gym, I know that we will step our lifestyle choice into a more active fun filled arena.......with lovely incentives along the way. My daughter has just started high school and we have had issues of food choices and jumping on the buses because it is free, We need you, ps lucky that not only do we have a sainbury's near by but also a mega Virgin Active centre with spa, why don't you give us a go and help change our family.

afromom · 09/01/2014 13:11

This looks great, and just what I need to help me on my 2014 mission to be more healthy!

Snapespeare · 09/01/2014 13:31

oh please MN pick me, pick me! my christmas weight is unruly,
I'm aging quicker than I should, My joints creak like uncared for wood,
My children snigger as I get bigger, my seams burst as I lose my figure.

I'd love to swim and exercise, to curtail my expanding thighs,

but alone, I am not motivated, my willpower is dissipated,

by parenting three teenagers alone and running a busy, happy home.

So please MN, pick me, pick me! I promise I'll eat healthily,
I'll film my sweat, I'll swim ten miles - I'll do it all wreathed in smiles.
and although at risk of sounding phoney...
...I'd even let Brian massage my yoni,

(actually that's a deal-breaker, forget I mentioned it)

go on MN. I need a kick-up-the-arse to lose weight before a wedding in April, where I might see someone I dont really want to see, but it would be preferable if I were thin whilst seeing him. :)

Kewcumber · 09/01/2014 13:32

HepsibarCrinkletoes · 09/01/2014 16:33

Oh yes please. Would absolutely love to do this. I've started 2014 full of gusto (rather than GUTso) and this would be awesome.

BigBugs · 09/01/2014 18:11

I would absolutely love this experience, sounds right up my street Smile Fingers crossed here!

Willemdefoeismine · 09/01/2014 18:13

Hi Ann
Can I amend my application at all or is that not-allowed!
Thanks and everything crossed Confused!

FrillyMilly · 09/01/2014 18:36

I would love to do this as have a virgin gym and vue nearby but I can't do the school run and make it 180 miles to London on the Friday.

Naoko · 09/01/2014 18:37

Hah, I'd apply but having just checked, the nearest Virgin Active Gym is 111 miles away. I don't live on in the Outer Hebrides either...

CointreauVersial · 09/01/2014 18:54

Oooh, yes please.

Just checked, and there's a Virgin Active gym in the next town, very near to where the DDs do their drama and dance. So that's two free hours on a Thursday........

Pinkbatrobi · 09/01/2014 19:00

Oh this would be such an amazing opportunity...I am so excited by this it's going to be hell having to wait to find out if I am picked or not...MNHQ Do you know when you are going to let us know? Fingers crossed!! Smile

MollyBerry · 09/01/2014 20:08

AnnMumsnet sorry to ask again but is this just for people with children/families?

Faithless12 · 09/01/2014 20:23

I would love to take part in this, I want to get fit enough to play sports again. Or even run the colour run (or 2) in the summer, this would be a good start. I should have added that into my application shouldn't I?

tiredandsadmum · 09/01/2014 21:29

It sounds such a great structured programme. But please pick Snapespeare for making me smile this evening. Such wonderful poetry!

SantasSprouts · 09/01/2014 22:28

Look, I am so lazy I haven't even changed my MN nickname back! This while thing looks brilliant despite the fact that Ihave a morbid fear of video cameras and spas... I think DD would help out with forcing me to to the filming bit! She loves all that and I want to be a fitter mum forever not just every January Grin

SantasSprouts · 09/01/2014 22:32

Oh I meant to actually ask a question! Will there be a required amount of gym attendance if we are lucky enough to be chosen- is it left to the participants to decide? I only ask because I wouldn't be able to go everyday but probably twice a week? Is that even enough to get fit?? The Virgin gym looks like the kind of place I have never set foot in so will especially need the new posh gym wear Blush not fleece and holey leggings...
