We love Whole Earth crunchy peanut butter - yum on toast for breakfast!

Numb71 · 10/09/2013 18:34

crunchy

Blatherskite · 10/09/2013 18:50

DH and I are both Atopic so I've always been wary of trying peanut butter with the DC's. I guess as they're 6 and 3 now an showing no signs of any other allergies, I should give it a try....

I think I'll start with smooth

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 10/09/2013 18:52

crunchy. yum

Sparklingbrook · 10/09/2013 18:53

It has arrived. I seem to have eaten quite a lot already on crackers. Yum. Will review properly soon.

trikken · 10/09/2013 19:06

Smooth definitely. Smooth is creamier and sometimes I find that if I havr crunchy it can be rather gritty and I end up getting bits stuck in my teeth which isnt pleasent. Plus smooth peanut butter is easier for us to spread and I find you use less as you can spread it thinner than crunchy.

lambfam · 10/09/2013 19:12

Crunchy for me. I love Whole Earth peanut butter - it is the only one I will buy. Smooth just doesnt seem right for peanut butter

babsmam · 10/09/2013 19:49

None tester

DH prefers crunchy

Dd and Ds are not fussed and like either

IcedTeaOneSugar · 10/09/2013 19:56

We only buy whole earth crunchy, the crunchy peanuts with the smooth bit and the butter on hot toast yummy :)

ApplesinmyPocket · 10/09/2013 19:56

Non tester - crunchy, definitely!

meepsmum · 10/09/2013 19:59

Smooth smooth smooth. Doesn't stick in your teeth!!
Unless using for baking then its crunchy all the way!

CheeryCherry · 10/09/2013 19:59

Non-tester ..crunchy every time!

TweenageAngst · 10/09/2013 20:07

Non tester- however I always buy whole earth both the smooth, preferred by DS and the crunchy which the rest of us prefer. I love the fact it is only peanuts and oil.
I find other brands too sweet in comparison
I love the texture of the crunchy and use it in cooking, it makes great satay sauce and the smooth goes into homemade ice cream to make peanut butter and choc flavour (mmmm cold reese peanut butter cups) as well as eating (usually on a spoon straight from the jar)
I don't buy other brands and think the product is competitively priced given the quality

CMOTDibbler · 10/09/2013 20:11

Crunchy. Smooth can be a bit claggy for me

RubySparks · 10/09/2013 20:12

Thanks, peanut butter arrived a couple of days ago!

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter?

  • we thought the crunchiness and flavour were just right and delicious!

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

  • compares very well to other brands, nice flavour, good crunch.

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

  • seems reasonabl price for small jar

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?
Just had it on toast.

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • sure if they asked, it's good
asuwere · 10/09/2013 21:01

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

I thought it was really nice. DS1 doesn't usually like crunchy peanut butter but this isn't quite as lumpy as other brands so he liked it too which is good.

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

Overall, nice flavour and as I said, texture meant we could all eat it.

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

It is more expensive than what I would usually buy. If it didn't have the added salt, then I would consider paying the extra to have the pure form but don't think I will be buying it unless it is on offer, sorry.

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

We have had peanut butter and jam sandwiches. We also made some mini peanut butter cookies and some peanut butter balls which DC loved!

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

yeah, if I was asked, I would say that it tastes lovely but I would point out that it is slightly more expensive too. (and I'd probably point out the added salt as I feel that it's something that I wouldn't expect from the name IFYSWIM)

AFishWithoutABicycle · 10/09/2013 21:03

Smooth but I normally buy crunchy because its cheaper.

Hopezibah · 10/09/2013 21:18

non-tester! LOVE both! Smooth for cooking with and crunchy to have on a baguette - yum. x

Theimpossiblegirl · 10/09/2013 21:24

My jar arrived today while I was at work. Half of it had been eaten before I got home! It was a tiny jar, don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I won't get much cooking done with it.

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting? They didn't like it much on its own, they said it wasn't sweet enough, but they loved it with jam/honey. I like peanut butter and Marmite so the unsweetened Whole Earth stuff went really well.

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?
I prefer the Whole Earth but the children have a sweeter tooth and like Sunpat.

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?
Of course I would rather pay less, so it would depend on if there were deals on other brands.

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?
So far, on its own, on toast with jam/honey/Marmite. The rest of the jar will be used to make cookies. If the jar had been bigger I wanted to do a Satay sauce, I bet it would work really well.

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'm a bit torn on the whole Palm oil thing, but if it really is sustainable, yes.

sharond101 · 10/09/2013 21:48

We are peanut butter addicts and couldn't possible choose between smooth or crunchy. We have a dilemma though as we were buying Kernel King peanut butter from B&M bargains which was only 59p per 340g jar adn we all liked it. Now they don't have it and we have tried the Aldi one and it tastes horrid so we need a new brand to like which won't break the bank as we go through 2 jars minimum per week!

carovioletfizz · 10/09/2013 21:49

Not a tester, but my DC prefer smooth - they are funny about 'bits' in anything from yogurt to peanut butter.

UniS · 10/09/2013 22:17

Son prefers crunchy this week. I prefer crunchy in sandwiches and smooth for cooking or sweet making.

tattiehowker · 10/09/2013 22:27

Not a tester and haven't had peanut butter in years! Reading this thread is making me long for some crunchy peanut butter on wholemeal toast..

Firewall · 10/09/2013 22:29

None tester. My toddler loves smooth!

wheretoyougonow · 10/09/2013 22:31

Non tester- it has to be crunchy. Preferably on a hot crumpet (drools)
