Hi
We collected our car this morning and firstly would like to comment on the excellent service from Arnold Clark, Bishopbriggs. Really friendly, knowledgable and patient. Couldn't fault them at all.
On first impressions, the car is really attractive. We've got a blue model with some lovely alloys which are dark grey I think? The car looks great and we were proud to be driving it today.
Inside, the audio system is fantastic. Hooked up to bluetooth on my iphone really quickly and the stereo system then played from the music on my iphone - even if my phone was in my handbag in the boot! The car also has a usb plug to charge your phone and we also tested the handsfree today which is really user friendly.
The car has cruise control, which i'm not very familiar with and a bit reluctant to try out to be honest. An absolute breeze to drive, very smooth through the gears and light to steer. A handy 'shift' display on the dashboard which recommend changing up or down a gear at times to improve fuel efficiency and a display on the central screen to show the mpg on your journey. The central screen also converts to a rear camera feed when reversing.
Plenty of cup holders in this car - two in the central unit by the hand brake, 1 in each of the four doors and also 2 in the boot where the rear two seats would be.
I noticed the car mat in the rear - it's in the form of a plastic tray (with a nice matt finish so it doesn't look tacky) and stretches from the door frame on one side, across to the door frame on the other. Genius invention, will avoid crumbs and dirt accumulating in the centre of the rear footwell.
Also, the steering wheel is adjustable, not just raising or lowering but also pushing it nearer the dash or pulling it further towards the driver. I really liked this function, particularly as the location of the dials (central dash angled towards the driver) could be a bit obscured depending on the position of the steering wheel.
2 glove boxes - one of which is chilled.
What do the children think of it?
DS2 (almost 2): I like it car!
Our eldest child (3.5yrs) loves the tray on the rear of the seat in front. Windows are fairly user friendly for the kids. Easy to get in and out of the car, my two children fit in ok but the leg room isn't great. My husband and I (6'3 and 5'10) both drive with the driver's seat fairly far back and a group 1 car seat behind the driver's seat doesn't leave our youngest much leg room. I think we'll be swapping over the group 1 and the high back booster seat so that the group 1 is behind the passenger seat for more leg space. Plenty of space in the boot for the pram. On first impressions, the space for a seven seater isn't great, particularly when compared to a touran which we have driven and been passengers in previously. Will investigate this further over the next few days but we were happy with the space when the rear two seats are folded down.
