Following on from the webchat with the Mothercare CEO Simon Calver we are pleased to announce we are now recruiting MNers to join a mini panel.

The team at Mothercare say "We've got together with Mumsnet to create a panel so we can listen to real mums at the start of their parenting journey. We are keen to hear your feedback on some of our new product arrivals and our new store concept. With over 50 years of experience, we know that we must continue to understand the highs and lows of parenting to make life easier for young families during this important time."

The MN Mothercare Panel will be invited to take part in a variety of activities over the next year or so - including

~ Visit to the flagship store at Edmonton, North London in April - this is a chance for MNers to experience Mothercare's new store concept - a "mumspace" with an assortment of scheduled activities for mums and babies, coffee shop, scanning room, huge ELC with play zones and expert advisors on hand.
Please note you don't have to be near Edmonton to join the panel
~ Take part in a survey - and have the chance to win a prize
~ Chance to take part in products test(s) for new pregnancy, baby or toddler products and to add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet
~ Hear about competitions and sponsored threads via email from MNHQ directly

We're looking for a variety of MNers to join the panel - this needs to include those who are currently pregnant, who have small babies now or who have a toddler - in short - the sort of people who would be in the market for the kind of items Mothercare sells Grin.

As we do have the event at Edmonton we'd very much like folks who fit the bill in terms of pregnancy/ LO's and who are also within striking distance of this store to join.

It doesn't matter if you're a Mothercare regular, or if you aren't aware of them.

How the panel will work
~ We recruit MNers onto the panel now - everyone who completes the form linked to below will be on the panel.
~ Each time we have an activity which we think you're suitable for or would be interested in we will email you details and info on how you can take part
~ Not all panel members will necessarily take part in an activity - but there will be chances for everyone to contribute in some way
~ You can leave the panel at any time.

Please do sign up by adding your details here

We'll be in touch with panellists when the first activity happens.

Thanks MNHQ

Hooray! This is brilliant. I'd LOVE to do it. Sadly too far to get to Edmonton without a really, really good reason but I'd be happy to do anything and everything else. I love babycare products, I've no idea why. pram addict Smile

Have put my name down, I think mothercare could improve a lot particularly customer service.

Funny how some posters don't like the term "mumspace" - we can hardly comment with a name like mumsnet!

D'you know, having now experienced the 'joys' of M&P I really rate Mothercare - their sales ethic and general set up seems a heck of a lot more honest and straightforward than M&P who I resent with a passion.

Mothercare might be old fashioned and a bit behind us in what we need but at least they don't think we're all blinded by fashion.

I could rant about M&P for a while so someone shove a biscuit in my mouth Grin

How many testers are they looking for?

Yeah, alright Grin.

Mothercare frustrates me (have a very dingy high st store nearby) because in some ways it's good, but in a lot of ways it's awful, and it could/should be so much better. I remember the old big store in Brent X teeming with people when I was a child, because it was so good. Hope Edmonton is. Will make a trip soon.

Hello - we've had a brilliant response to this!

Many of you have indicated you're able to come to the Edmonton store but I just wanted to make it clear this bit is only one part of the project, so you don't need to be near this store to join!

Nosonervous - no limit really but we have had a great response so far.

I agree Fuckwittery - there's no way I can go on a Thursday early evening - they are a bit silly I think. Also, I'd much rather play with the ELC toys in my lovely branch of ELC at Brent Cross. Except I can't, as they've just closed it down, even though it was always busy :(

I didn't tick that I could come to the event, but I'm on the panel and have a comment for any bigwigs that'll be there if you could show them please Ann?

I went in today for some travel bibs and whilst I was in there I wandered over to the car seats section for a browse (I'm looking into ERF seats for when dd2 outgrows her carrier). A member of staff came over to ask if I needed any help. I asked if there were any ERF seats in display and she looked very confused and asked if I meant combination seats. I said no, I mean seats that rear face until age 3/4. She pointed at the Britax First Class and said that I could buy that one and "keep it RF for as long as I want"...umm, no actually it only rear faces to 13kg. Luckily I know what I'm looking for but lots of people don't and will believe dangerous rubbish such as this! Please, please Mothercare, if you insist on not stocking ERF seats at least train your staff how to sell the ones you do sell!

Thanks, rant over Grin
