  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Very satisfied, this c-section scar is healing more quickly and with much less pain than my previous c-section scar 10 years ago.
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
The scar was raised at the start but is now completely flat.
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Quick, easy, effective.
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Yes, I plan to continue using it on my c-section scar and to start using it on a scar my son has on his chin.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I have found it invaluable to be doing something about a large and distressing scar, particularly as I have a tendency to develop keloid scars.
bearcub1 · 18/03/2013 15:37

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?
I found it very easy to apply, once I got the hang of it. I put the required amount on my finger and then put my finger in the middle of the scar and run it either side of the scar.
Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
I apply at the beginning of my routine, so it's dry by the time I get dressed. It takes longer in the evening as I wash the scar with a flannel to clean it before application. It's a bit of a faff, but results are quickly seen.
Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc
Bit sticky, but by only applying the right amount of it helps.
Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?
I have never used any Kelo-cote before. I have used bio oil, but didn't find it worked all that well, just did it for some reason!

bearcub1 · 18/03/2013 15:39

Oh, I'm a new tester btw

AttillaTheMum · 18/03/2013 15:49

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply? very easy

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected? it took just a minue. from the instructios I expected this to be longer.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc - I had no opinion.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)? - No never.

justtired · 18/03/2013 16:12

Q1. Found it very easy to apply after I worked out how much to apply, went on the skin easily.

Q2. About 2 minutes to dry. It had an unusual texture and I thought it would take longer to dry than it did.

Q3. It was quite sticky and thick in texture and it felt like a waxy coating once applied.

Q4. No I havent.

McNo · 18/03/2013 16:30

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?

I found it easy to apply

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

I'm quite an impatient person but found the drying time fine. I brush my teeth as it's drying so when i'm finished brushing my teeth its dry.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc

The texture is slightly sticky but it didn't put me off.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?

No I have not - hadn't heard of the brand before either

projectbabyweight · 18/03/2013 17:21

I'm a new tester.

Q1 Very east to apply.

Q2. Took a couple of minutes to dry, about what I expected.

Q3. Texture was just right, no unpleasant stickiness.

Q4. No I'd never tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before.

Thanks!

  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Not very, scar is still irritated and itchy
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
Slightly less red
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
gel, sticky, cool
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Because it didn't work no, but if it did yes - would need a money back guarantee like clinique dark spot or something!
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
I'd say give it a try based on the feedback above as it seems to have worked for some people with the proviso that it didn't for me....
GingerLemonTea · 18/03/2013 19:46

I am a new user & have just been using product for a couple of weeks.

Q1 Very easy to apply

Q2. A few mins to dry, less than 5, just as I expected.

Q3. Feel of the gel was slightly sticky which was fine

Q4. Have never tried Kelo-cote before. Have tried bio oil and strivectin for stretch marks above the scar.

Lamazeroo · 18/03/2013 20:33
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Really quite satisfied. It didn't perform miracles but I can see a difference.

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

The scar is softer and I think it may be slightly less itchy.

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

Easy, non-toxic, gentle

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

Yes

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would. So many women reach for something like Bio-oil which contains petrochemicals. I like that there is a less toxic product available, and I think it has been beneficial for me.

Nervousfirsttimer · 18/03/2013 21:02

I'm one of the new batch of testers so answering the first questions:

The gel was fairly easy to apply. It's a bit sticky, so you need to move fairly quickly but not really a problem

It only took a few minutes to dry so I made it the first thing I did as I was getting ready - then did body moisturiser etc and by the time id done it was dry. Maybe takes a bit longer than other creams so I guess it took a bit longer than expected

As I said its a bit sticky but I guess that's what makes it work! (And what takes the time to dry)

I haven't tried any products like this before

TheDeadlyDonkey · 18/03/2013 21:10

I'm a new tester.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?
Very easy, but I do find I need to use more than the suggested amount, or it doesn't reach the other end of the scar.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
Only takes a couple of minutes.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc
A little sticky maybe, but fine.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?
No, never.

queenofthepirates · 18/03/2013 22:38

Gentle, easy, soft
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 months supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Not too sure. If I had a spare £30 then yes.

rubbishonlineshopper · 19/03/2013 11:44
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

I thought the gel was quite good, I would say generally satisfied, although I found it quite tricky getting the hang of how much to use....

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

The itching of my scar was reduced.

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

Surprising, helpful, expensive

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

No, sorry. However you break it down, (per month / week / day), you still need the £30 to hand over to the shopkeeper, which is more than a quarter of my weekly budget (covering all food, cleaning, clothes and activities - there is not usually much left!)

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes, probably, though I'd feel the need to warn them of the cost. I thought it was quite a good product....

Boggler · 19/03/2013 11:57
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Reasonably satisfied, although I'm disappointed that the area around my scar still feels alien, maybe I was expecting too much to hope that the lack of sensation would diminish.

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
The scar is definitely less red and angry looking.
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
easy, sticky & gooey
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Not sure I would pay nearly £30 for a tube unless I had heard amazing things about it, my tube didn't last anywhere near 3 months so I would be a bit annoyed if I had paid such a lot for it.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

I have recommended it to a friend who has just had a section, so yes.

OvO · 19/03/2013 12:05

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Very. It looks a whole lot better now.

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

Its flatter and less red.

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
It really works.
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

No, I don't have that sort of money for something that's really just a vanity thing.

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes, because it works.

Axlemaimi · 19/03/2013 12:22
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
Quite satisfied
  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
Reduced redness and some fading of scar
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Easy, quick, pleasant
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 months supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
Yes, I'm a bit of a sucker for trying new products, especially if it had been on offer or been lots of advertising etc.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Yes as it really improved the appearance of my scar.
exiledmancityfan · 19/03/2013 12:45
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Very satisfird. Easy to apply and felt really good

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

It is less red and doesn't feel as raised

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

Easy, works, mum friendly (I know thats 4 but hey)

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

Yes

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would. It is so easy to apply and doesn't seem as faffy as Bio-oil and it seems to have a quicker and better result.

gabbagabbahey · 19/03/2013 13:00

Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?
I'm satisfied with the gel - I can see and feel a difference.

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?
My scar feels less raised, is less red and is far less itchy
  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?
Simple, quick, effective
  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?
I really like the product, but that does feel like quite a chunk out of the family finances for such a small tube. Also I'm now 18 months post-section, and have learned to live with my scar. Perhaps 12 months ago the price wouldn't have been such a factor. However should the itching return I might think very differently.
  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would - I have seen a difference which I didn't expect. It's also a great alternative to the steroid injections that my doctor said was my only course of treatment available to me.
Clareada · 19/03/2013 13:21
  1. My scar has gone down, it's less bumpy and feels smooth to touch and less uncomfortable. So I am satisfied with the results.
  2. it feels alot smoother than it was and it feels less sensitive (though this could be because I have got used to touching it every day and it has become desensitised because of that?)
  3. sticky but works
  4. I think that is too much and the guidelines are misleading regarding the amount you need to use (especially to start with and it does take a while to get the hang of applying it - the tube and the texture).
  5. Yes I would. I didn't know such products were out there so if someone were to complain about their scar, I would recommend they use Kelo-cote
Snorkmaiden75 · 19/03/2013 13:21
  • Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied were you with the results of the gel?

Moderately satisfied. The results seemed to tail off towards this last 2 months and there has been no further reduction in redness, and some smaller lumpy/keloid bits of the scar still remain

  • What (if anything) was the most noticeable result?

Reduction in tightness, sensitivity and itching of the scar. Some reduction of redness but did not fade as much as I had hoped.

  • Which three words would you use to describe Kelo-cote silicone gel?

Sticky, non-allergenic, thick

  • The recommended retail price for Kelo-cote is £29.99. Would you be prepared to pay this amount for 3 month?s supply (equivalent to less than £10 per month)?

I think this would be too expensive for me given the moderate results. I would probably pay up to £17.99 for 3 month's supply

  • If it were to come up in conversation, would you recommend Kelo-cote silicone gel to friends and family? If yes, why? If not, why not?

Yes, if friends or family were particularly worried about a scar I would mention kelo-cote as I definitely found it a better product than bio-oil for example as it is unfragranced and lasts longer due to thickness of product.
