Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
Which size pot did you prefer?
When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
Would you say that the range is good value for money? (recommended prices are: 500g Sharing Pot, £1.39, 190g Rice Pots in Devon Custard, 65p, 120g Rice Pots in Apple and Chocolate, 45p, 115g Light Rice, 49p, 145g Rice + in Strawberry Jam and Raspberry Jam, 69p)

Ok, just getting here with my feedback, so here goes:

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

Yes, although DSS stole most of them so I have had to ask him his thoughts :)

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

The jam pot was the best of the bunch, although the custard ones went down well too.

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

Yes, I was so excited about being picked for a product test that I told lots of people about it, so I have been asked several times do I recommend them.

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

The chocolate one was a bit watery, a bit of a disappointment really, not keen on the apple one either, but that is just personal preference and I wouldn't normally buy apple flavoured things anyway. The rest were really nice, I liked the "light" one although I think it's atiny bit on the small side.

Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

Yes. Has given me instructions on which ones to purchase on the next shop.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

Raspberry Jam was most popular, and the light version, Chocolate and apple were least favourites.

Which size pot did you prefer?

The 190g pots.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?

I would take them to work as part of my packed lunch, DSS always beats us in from work, so grabs something as a snack, these would be ideal.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?

No for lunch as he's messy, I don't really see it as picnic food.

Would you say that the range is good value for money?

I think the prices are fair, except the 500g sharing pot, I ended eating it all myself as DH doesn't like Rice pudding and there was far too much for one person, it would be cheaper to buy a normal tin for me alone. I would wait until they are on offer and then probably buy them.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?

I think I will buy some, but as I said above, when they are on offer rather than at full price.

creambun · 17/10/2012 09:47

Hi. Thank you for letting us try the rice pots. We've just finished eating them, so here's my feedback:

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Yes. I usually only buy the Ambrosia custard and would never have thought of buying the rice pots, but I'm really glad I tried them.
Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?
The rice pots with jam, as my daughter liked these, and the large sharing pot as that was my favourite.
Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
Yes I would. I think these are great for children's lunchboxes. I also think they are a nice treat for adults and make a good filling snack or dessert. Being long-life makes them very convenient as you can just keep a few in the cupboard ready for when you need them.
Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
I enjoyed the taste more than my children did! I think my children are used to smooth custards and yoghurts, so the rice takes a bit of getting used to. However, the jam one went down well, and I'm going to get another of the large sharing pots and try warming the rice pudding up and serving it with golden syrup or brown sugar. I thought my children would like that.
Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
The most popular were the rice and jam pot, and the plain sharing pot. My daughter liked being able to mix the jam in and it made it sweeter for her. I liked the plain flavour as it was lovely and creamy and really filling. The least popular was the Light Rice. I really thought I would like it as it was low calorie, but it wasn't creamy enough for me and it didn't fill me up. I would rather eat one of the higher calorie pots. I would enjoy it more and I wouldn't end up eating again later on as it would fill me up and stop me snacking.
Which size pot did you prefer?
The 120g pots were the best. I did like the bigger pots as they were more economical, but instead of eating a bit and saving a bit for later, I just ended up eating the whole pot! My willpower is not strong enough when it comes to rice pudding!
When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
I would be most likely to eat them after lunch or as a mid morning snack. My children would be most likely to eat them with a packed lunch or after their tea.
Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
Yes. They're very convenient as they don't need to be kept cold. Also, if they don't get eaten they can just go back in the cupboard for another time.
Yes, although I probably wouldn't buy them to eat every day. I would wait for special offers and then buy a few different varieties to have as treats or with picnics. I would probably keep a few of our favourites in the cupboard though.
Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
I haven't bought any yet but I will definitely be buying these again.

JimbosJetSet · 17/10/2012 09:56

The ambrosia didn't go down too well in this house. We have Muller rice fans here and we were hoping for something that rivalled them - these certainly did not! Bland, over sweet and synthetic. The custard one was the biggest disappointment - as ambrosia custard is so good we thought it should have been a winner, but again it was just bland. And the chocolate one was just odd! Even our two year old who is happy to eat anything sweet only had a couple of mouthfuls. So overall, unimpressed here.

celebmum · 17/10/2012 13:32

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots? -we ate them as desert Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic? -maybe a picnic but not a lunchbox unless I knew I would be with my son.. He's still abit small to be doing pkts! Would you say that the range is good value for money? Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

not really

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

i'd buy the custard one and the big pot of plain rice pudding

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

no

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

2 of my children didn't like any of them ( i think it was the texture) and the 9yo loved the custard one

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

the children liked the plain rice pudding best and the custard one. the least popular was the apple one, which no-one liked and the chocolate one - one said the chocolate was too rich and it would be better with less chocolate and more rice (that was from my sugar-loving 9yo!)

Which size pot did you prefer?

i like the big tub because there are 6 of us! but the children like the individual pots, so i'd buy some of those too

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?

as a quick weekday pudding

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
yes, if they asked for one

Would you say that the range is good value for money? (recommended prices are: 500g Sharing Pot, £1.39, 190g Rice Pots in Devon Custard, 65p, 120g Rice Pots in Apple and Chocolate, 45p, 115g Light Rice, 49p, 145g Rice + in Strawberry Jam and Raspberry Jam, 69p)

i think the prices are reasonable - i'd tend to wait until multi-packs are on offer at my supermarket (ocado)

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?

no

MrsSpa · 17/10/2012 20:03

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

Not particularly, I found them rather mushy and bland, maybe because I am used to home made rice pudding rather than premade.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

Maybe the jam ones, and only if I wanted something different for eg a day out. I was impressed that they don't need to be kept in the fridge and keep for a long time.

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

Probably not

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

The plain flavour ones were rather bland. My daughter (22 months) was willing to try them but didn't eat more than a couple of teaspoons so I don't think she was very keen.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

The jam one was OK. The chocolate one was tasteless.

Which size pot did you prefer?

i wouldn't serve it at home so would only use it when out and about as a treat so I would go for the individual ones.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?

Day out snack.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?

Maybe.

I'd probably look out for them on offer.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?

No

boardergirl · 17/10/2012 21:57

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
Yes I have done so this week at the children's request.

I think the prices are fine, I would be more likely to buy them when they're on offer though.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
I have bought some of the smaller pots for lunchboxes and snacks following the test. I really like the fact they can be kept in a cupboard as our fridge is tiny!

We loved the box as well it is a home for lego models in our house.

gazzalw · 18/10/2012 07:26

Marking place! Not getting through them as quickly as I would have anticipated. DS has brought home delicious apple crumble from his cookery lesson at school and there's really no competition during a cold, rainy week Wink!

Marking my place to add feedback later on today....

NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown · 20/10/2012 09:22

Would you buy any of the pots again?
Definitely the rice with raspberry jam.

Do you think you would recommend the range to friends and family?
Yes if it came up in conversation.

Did you/children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
My son (20 months) had never had rice pudding before, it was definitely a hit with him!

Did you/children have a particular favourite flavour? Most popular/least popular?
I loved both the rice with Apple and the rice with raspberry jam. I think my son liked the chocolate one the best but didn't complain about any!

Which size pot did you prefer?
I liked the 190g pots as a snack or pudding. The 500g sharing pot is a bit big for our family.

When would you be most likely to eat the rice pots?
The 190g would be great to eat in the evening as a dessert

Would you include in lunchbox or picnic?
No. I prefer to give my son yogurt that is higher in fat and with no added sugar at the moment. I would give it as a dessert knowing he would be cleaning his teeth shortly after.

Value for money?
I think they are good value for money.

Have you bought or will you buy Yes I will buy, haven't yet though

thank you for letting us test the rice pots, we thoroughly enjoyed it

Sleepyfergus · 20/10/2012 09:36

Would you buy any of the pots again?
The Devon Custard one and the one with raspberry jam.

Do you think you would recommend the range to friends and family?
Yes in passing, I wouldn't pick up the phone to rave about it!

Did you/children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
My daughter tried most of the pots but didn't finish them. I think she found them quite filling and the texture a but weird depending on her mood!

Did you/children have a particular favourite flavour? Most popular/least popular?
the Devon custard and the raspberry jam one were the faves. The chocolate one was not v popular.

Which size pot did you prefer?
The 120g pots as these are a reasonable size for my 3yo.

When would you be most likely to eat the rice pots?
As a desert/treat.

Would you include in lunchbox or picnic?
I cant see me using them in lunchboxes -too messy. Perhaps for a picnic but my dd would prefer plain custard.

Value for money?
I think they are a food price and imagine that supermarkets will do offers on bulk buying too.

Have you bought or will you buy?
At the moment no. My dd prefers plain,(Ambrosia!!) custard and I fear that buying her the rice will end up half eaten or chucked out. But I may try the odd pot now and again.

And as many folk have already said, many thanks for the lovely box the pots came. Not sure what I'll use it for, but it will def come in handy. prob filing, how boring

topsmrp · 20/10/2012 10:04

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

Yes we enjoyed these as a family.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

I would buy the 190g pots again and the 500g sharing pot

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

Yes I would recommend this say in a conversation in the school playground !

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

Yes my child enjoyed the taste of the pots.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

The chocolate was least favourite as it seemed very watery.

Which size pot did you prefer?

190g

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?

Most likely to eat at home after a cold day.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?

Only my husband eats cold rice pudding. Myself and my son like it warm.

Would you say that the range is good value for money?

yes I think they are value for money except the small pots I would like to see a bit cheaper.

(recommended prices are: 500g Sharing Pot, £1.39, 190g Rice Pots in Devon Custard, 65p, 120g Rice Pots in Apple and Chocolate, 45p, 115g Light Rice, 49p, 145g Rice + in Strawberry Jam and Raspberry Jam, 69p)

Yes we have bought the 190g size and the 500g sharing pot.

BigWhoop · 20/10/2012 10:24

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Overall, we thought they were ok, some we liked and some we didn't.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?
I enjoyed the custard one the most and I'd probably buy that one again, possibly the jam one, not sure about the others.

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
Possibly, but only the custard or jam one.

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
I found them a bit lacking in any taste to be honest - the apple wasn't particularly appley, and the chocolate one was just too weak to be pleasant.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
The custard one, and the jam ones were the biggest favourites, the plain one didn't go down very well - but I think it might have been better warmed up, the least favourite was definitely the chocolate one which we just didn't enjoy.

Which size pot did you prefer?
I prefer the medium sized pot - the size of the custard one.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
Work/lunches or after dinner as a pudding.

Would you include a rice pot in your child’s lunchbox or on a picnic?
Yes, probably, but would go for something healthier on a regular basis.

Yes, those prices are reasonable.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
Possibly the jam and custard ones.

goingdownhill · 20/10/2012 12:02

Overall we enjoyed the taste of the pots, though some more than others.

Yes we would repurchase. We liked the chocolate one and the strawberry and raspberry jam.

I would recommend these to friends if it arose in conversation.

I did enjoy the taste of some of the pots, I found the light pot, a little bland, also the chocolate was a little flavourless although ds ate it.

We liked the flavours the jam and chocolate were the kids favourite.

My husband would eat the pots after his lunch at work. The kids would have them after dinner because they liked them warmed.

We liked the 190g pot best size wise.

I thought these would be excellent in a lunch box but the trial showed this was not the case as the children did not like them cold but did enjoy them warm.

I think these pots are priced at a fair amount.

I would buy pots from the range in future. The jam ones for husbands work and the large pots for a quick pudding for the kids.

Thank you for letting me participate Smile

gazzalw · 20/10/2012 12:15

Sorry about the delay in transmission from me but the uptake of the Ambrosia rice pudding goodies has been rather slow in our household! Think it's only fair to point out that we are not really big on puddings here and I had this naive thought that that this generous product review would refresh the pudding parts that have yet to be reached in our family. It has not entirely proven to to be the case!

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

The children were not keen at all even on the children-oriented chocolate and jam pots. Sorry - they just seemed to dislike the texture of rice and milk together.

DW and I were altogether a lot easier to please and enjoyed trying them all out. We very much liked the variety of flavours (although some more than others), the different sized pots and the big family 'tub'.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

It's a difficult one. They would be an ideal lunch-box staple especially given that they don't need to be kept refrigerated, but of course the children weren't keen.

I would certainly happily eat the apple or Devon custard variety again and would be happy to have a supply at work for snacking purposes especially during the winter months. I could see myself eating one for breakfast instead of cereals. I personally think that the 190g pot-size is a good adult sized portion

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

I would recommend the range to families with children who like rice pudding or are generally keen on puddings. It is a good semi-sneaky way to get dairy products into growing kids!

I do think they are a good store-cupboard standby, particularly when you need comfort food (when you are ill) and would happily encourage DW to stock up in the same way that we do with Baxters Soups!

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

The children weren't keen at all but then they're not even keen on home-made rice-pudding - Sorry!

DW and I particularly liked the Devon Custard variety and the standard Ambrosia Rice Pudding was tasty. I did however get a strange texture feeling as if there were starch flakes added? It definitely wasn't the rice part and to start with I thought that it was very fine shavings of apple, checked the pot and I wasn't eating the apple-flavoured one.

The jam one aside I didn't feel that the flavours were over-sweet at all which can only be a good thing!

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

The chocolate one didn't really taste of chocolate - it tasted artificial and a bit ersatz.

The jam one was a bit too sweet and think that raspberry would have worked better.

DW didn't like the 'light' variety and felt that the calorie saving wasn't really worth the compromise on flavour (it had a strange after-taste).

The grown-ups in this house loved the Devon custard variety!

Which size pot did you prefer?

The Sharing Pot offers the best value for money and the opportunity to apportion rice pudding according to appetite and size/age! But really only if the whole family would be eating the Ambrosia.

The 190g pot suits an adult appetite and the 115g more suitable for children. There would in our opinion be a place for small toddler yoghurt sized portions (40g or 50g) to buy in trays of six.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?

As an energy boosting snack or possibly as a treat and vaguely anarchic alternative to porridge in the winter.

Although our children wouldn't have them in their lunchboxes I think they would be a welcome alternative to yoghurts for most children.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?

Not sure about picnics as we like to produce 50s style home cooked/prepared stuff in our picnics.

Sort of thing you could have in an emergency supplies box in the boot of your car though for if you get stuck somewhere and need food/drink to hand.

Not entirely as I'm pretty sure you could rustle up a rice-pudding for a family for £1.00. However, as an indulgent treat I don't think that 65p per pot for the Ambrosia Devon Custard ones is breaking the bank....And I would indulge in those!

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?

We've only just finished trying them so haven't really had time to consider buying more. I am not sure that DW would go out of her way to buy them as it's only she and me who would be eating them and we are not really pudding monsters! However, I think if I was shopping with her and saw them I could use my charms to persuade her to get in a stock of the Devon Custard ones ;-)!

Thank you for choosing us to do the product review and I'm sorry that I can't report back that we've converted the children! But it certainly has put Ambrosia products back on our radar and I for one will keep an eye out for them on the shelves!

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 20/10/2012 17:15

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Lovely!

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?
The smaller ones were great as we didn't feel obliged to overeat.

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
It's unlikely that they would come up in a conversation.

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
They were quite sickly to be honest, a little too sweet.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
The chocolate one didn't go down too well. We liked the plain ones as we could add the right amount of jam/honey to suit our tastes.

Which size pot did you prefer?
The smaller ones.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
Snacking after ds has gone to bed. Shhh!

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
No. They would get squashed too easily and they taste a lot better when warm.

Yes.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
Yes, the smaller pots.

Thank you for allowing us to take part in your market research. We enjoyed it and hope our feedback is useful.
Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Yes it was an interesting range
Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?
The large one and the individual snack pots. Not the chocolate or rice+jam - don't like the artificial tasting flavours
Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
Possibly, but generally I don't talk about products with friends of family - we never really have. I'd only warn against particular products or promote an exceptional one. For example - I'd warn against certain brands if they tasted disgusting and recently recommended a particularly talked about particular brands now available in our local Coop.
Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
As above - the non adulterated ones.
Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
As above - chocolate for us did not work.
Which size pot did you prefer?
Large for evening meals (like the idea of less packaging) - small for the out and about. The only trouble with larger pots (like yoghurt pots), is that if they are squashe din the shopping bag, they have a tendency to crack if they are squashed. That's a reason for buying cans over plastic pots for larger containers.
When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
As desert at supper time.
Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
No, we prefer actual fruit or a perhaps a shop bought or homemade cake.
The price actually depends on the supermarket and on offers etc. I'd go straight for the plain rice puddings.
Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
Possibly - depends. We do like the flavour or Rachel's organic rice puddings, particularly heated up. We worry about he presence of artificial flavours that cna add that "plasticky" taste to some foods. We used to buy tins of rice pudding more often, but tend to buy fewer packaged deserts now (e.g. mousses, yoghurts etc) because we're trying to have fresh fruit after our evning meal instead - it's cheaper and healthier in our opinion.

Generally I don't consult my children or husband over what to buy in terms of food. We might offer differ things for desert at mealtime, but it's really me who decides what that choice will be before hand. Sounds draconian, but even if they ask for stuff in the shop, we don't get it.

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Yes, we did.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?
Yes we would - all of them!

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
I already seem to have done that!!

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
Both myself, my youngest son (aged 5) and my husband liked the rice pots very much!!

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
Ds liked the raspberry jam one (he liked mixing the jam into the rice pudding), I liked the plain one (although the jam one was very nice...), and dh liked the plain one too.

Which size pot did you prefer?
The smaller snack sized pot seemed to be the sensible option, but to be honest, I could quite easily make some serious headway into the family sized pot (on my own Blush)

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
We'd most likely eat them as a pudding after dinner in the evening.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
Probably not - too messy!

They are more of a treat, really. If they were on offer, we'd definitely buy them, though.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
I think we'll definitely be buying our favourites again, if I can talk dh (the shopper!!) into adding them to the list!!

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

I would certainly buy the big carton again. All my children loved it (none left for me to try!). The smaller pots are lovely for a picninc but too expensive to replace yoghurts in packed lunches every day. Maybe I would use them in lunches occasionally to add some variety.

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)

I would in the unlikely event that it came up in conversation (make a welcome change from the Xfactor or shichever rubbish they talk about normally).

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

My children loved them. I was permitted small tastes of some of them and agreed they were really nice (apart from the apple one which none of us liked that much). I served the rice from the big carton with some fruit salad and it worked very well - more suited to the cold weather than icecream.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

Apple was least popular. The one with jam was the most popular. We also really liked the one with custard.

Which size pot did you prefer?

The bigger one was better value. Also, it meant less packagnig to throw away. My children added some jam to it, inspired by the rice pot with strawberry jam.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?

The big carton would be great for a quick mid-week pudding.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?

Yes on a picnic. Perhaps in a lunch box occasionally but as they are more expensive than frubes etc, they wouldnt be a permanent replacement.

Not particularly good value for money. There are cheaper alternatives.

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Overall yes we did enjiy the range

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

I would buy the ones with Jam and the chocolate ones, also the plain one

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

I might recommend the chocolate and jam ones some where a little to plain for our liking

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
The Jam and chocolate were nice the apple and custard were a little bland

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

DD tried the chocolate one but isn't too keen on Rice pudding anyway
I enjoyed the jam one, the least popular was probably the custard and apple because they were bland

Which size pot did you prefer?
I prefer the larger pot, then we could all enjoy some

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
We ate them as a snack but we would also enjoy as part of a packed lunch

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
I would if she would eat them, I have taken them in my lunch before

Would you say that the range is good value for money? (recommended prices are: 500g Sharing Pot, £1.39, 190g Rice Pots in Devon Custard, 65p, 120g Rice Pots in Apple and Chocolate, 45p, 115g Light Rice, 49p, 145g Rice + in Strawberry Jam and Raspberry Jam, 69p)
I feel these prices are fair and I will probably buy the ones we enjoyed most

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
I will probably but the big sharing pot again and maybe the chocolate and jam pots

Thank you for letting us test

OVoodooZombiesEatYourBrains · 22/10/2012 13:43

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range? Yes very much so.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones? Yes, the jam ones and the devon custard rice ones. Oh and the chocolate ones!

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)? Definitely

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots? I dont really like the plain ones (but it's easy enough to add some jam to them) but liked all the others. My 4 year old hated them all! But he lives on bread and butter so his opinion means nothing Wink. My 7 year old LOVED them all and acted as if I'd just handed him £50 when he tasted them, such was his excitement.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular? My favourite was the jam one. My 7 year old can't decided between the chocolate and the devon custard one. He really loved them both.
The apple one was tasted and then discarded. Not at all liked by any of us.

Which size pot did you prefer?
The individual (devon custard rice size) pots. Good sized portions.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots? As an after school snack or as a pudding. We dont usually do pudding but these are very puddingy without being a nuisance to make.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
Yes, my son has school dinners but if he ever changes to packed lunches I'll definitely start putting a rice pot in most days.

Would you say that the range is good value for money? Yes, pretty good though not brilliant. Bring the prices down just a little and they'd be excellent value.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test? Yes, the devon custard rice and the chocolate one.

mumnosbest · 22/10/2012 15:02

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?
Yes but some more than others.
Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?
I would buy the large family/sharing, plain rice pot and possibly the small light one.
Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?
I have discussed these with family and would reccomend the large pot.
Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?
My children, surprisingly didn't enjoy any of these (both love rice puding). they said they were too creamy/milky and I would agree they were too rich. We all preferred the light version for this reason. The apple and chocolate flavoured ones may have been nicer with more apple/chocolate as there wasn't really enough to flavour the rice. My husband tried the jam one and agreed it was too rich. The large plain pot was our favourite but again a bit rich. It was nicer warm. I loved the fact that the pots were microwaveable. Baby daughter seemed to enjoy all of them.
Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?
The least favourite all round was the chocolate as you couldn't taste it. Our favourite was probably the light pot.
Which size pot did you prefer?
Both. The sharing pot for dessert, though a little bigger would have been better :) The smaller pots for lunch boxes.
When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
At home for dessert.
Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?
No as they didn't really enjoy them.
The sharing pot - Yes.
The smaller pots are compareable in price to other ranges but still a little pricey for me to buy regularly.
Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?
I may buy a light sharing pot in the future.

I really like the fact that the pots are microwaveable but the flavour was too rich and creamy for our liking.

cheeseandmushroomghostie · 22/10/2012 15:29

Overall, did you enjoy the Ambrosia rice pot range?

Not compared to other rice pudddings that we have tried. Wasnt very creamy and colour was slightly off putting in the plain ones.

Would you buy any of the pots again? If so, which ones?

Maybe the one with jam.

Do you think you would recommend the range to your friends and family (if it came up in conversation)?

Not really, sorry.

Did you enjoy the taste of the rice pots? Did your children enjoy the taste of the rice pots?

DS (2.4) ate half the plain one, but didnt like the chocolate one or the apple one. He normally eats a whole muller rice as a snack.

Did you or your family / children have a particular favourite flavour? Which was the most popular? Which was least popular?

Chocolate one looked and smelt funny, like 'fake' chocolate.

Which size pot did you prefer?

The smallest one was the handiest.

When would you / your family be most likely to eat the rice pots?
Asa a snack.

Would you include a rice pot in your child?s lunchbox or on a picnic?

Yes, if I didn't have anything else in.

Its ok considering they have a very long shelf life.

Have you bought or do you think you will buy any products from the range following the test?

No and no, sorry. Just didnt like the taste. And I grew up eating a whole tin of Ambrosia rice pudidng in one sitting!
