We're looking for as many UK Mumsnetters as possible to take part in this - it's open to all with at least one child aged 0-3 years, as well as all those who are pregnant.

The product test will involve signing up to a free trial of Amazon Family for three months and adding your feedback to this thread.

Yep, they charged me too. I had had a free trial in the past but don't think that this was made clear at all, otherwise I would never have signed up to it. Maybe I just missed that particular warning.

Anyway, I hadn't used it yet so have cancelled and hope the money will be refunded very soon. Got a bit of a shock when I checked my account just there. took a couple of days to show.

I have just got this response - I'm not entirely sure what this means and whether I now no longer have the family thing or not or whether they've just cancelled the prime part of it. No clue. As long as they don't reclaim their £10 discount which I already used, I don't really care:

Yes heaps - I don't drive so I buy practically all of my children's books, toys and equipment from Amazon.

Really good but not sure if I'd pay an annual £49 fee. However perhaps it is justified if I were to make even more use of it by buying nappies, wipes and food also from Amazon instead of the supermarkets.

Here is clarification from Amazon's FAQs on the programme. I'll update the OP to make this all a bit clearer:

If you are a Prime member or have had a free trial of Prime within the last 13 months you are not eligible for the free trial for Family. Here is quote from FAQs:

What happens if I join Amazon Family after recently taking part in a free Amazon Prime trial / ending my Amazon Prime membership?
If you have participated in a free Amazon Prime trial or cancelled your Amazon Prime membership, you are not eligible for the three-month free Amazon Prime trial that is part of Amazon Family. However, you can still join Amazon Family and Amazon Prime and receive the following benefits:
GBP 10.00 off your first order over GBP 50.00 in our Baby Store
At least GBP 50.00 worth of exclusive offers every month
A further GBP 25.00 off your first order when you spend GBP 50.00 in our Baby Store as a new Amazon Prime member.

You can still be a member of Amazon Family without Prime, or if you cancel your Prime membership. Here is quote from FAQS:

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt - yes, if you're not already a Prime member and you haven't had a free trial of it, then you should be eligible. If the screen you're taken to when you click on the link in the OP mentions the trial being free, then it should be ok.

I buy most of my baby/ toddler related products on Amazon. Everything from Bedguards, Cot Wedges, Buggy accessories, toys, bottles etc.

I think it is a great idea for people who have young families thus they would benefit from the offers. I often feel the offers are irrelevant but some did look good. I'm a tad confused about the prime membership and now thinking I need to check the bank balance!
I really liked the speedy delivery service, makes such a difference so I know when to stay in and I don't need to worry about missing the postman.

I'm pretty sure we didn't use any of the offers but the £10 off a £130 shop was very useful. I'm not sure where the £25 comes into it though?

The £25 offer....I am an existing Prine member, and gave just joined Family. I read in their FAQs that as I'm a prime member, I would get £25 off my first order of £50+. So I ordered an item if £50+ and only got £10 off. I've currently got an enquiry with Anazon as to why thus is (esp as I checked that I would get this discount before ordering....I've detailed this further up thread)

Anyway, out if nowhere, I have received an email from Amazon to say my account gas been credited with a £25 promo code when i next spend £25. I don't think this is in relation to my o/s enquiry with them, I think it's as a result of joining Family as a Prime member (still with me?!)

I suppose there is a chance that i'll spend £50 with them, esp with Xmas coming up but the whole thing has been a bit confusing and I'm still in a position where I bought something on the premise and promise of £25 off which didn't happen.

To cut a long story short, I'd await the email from them to advise of your £25 promo code.

I've signed up thanks to mumsnet and happily new car seat is on the way (after a car crash on Saturday so well timed.). I order a fair bit from amazon so very tempted to keep hold of this one. Just trying to work out whether it will pay for itself?
q1, I have used Amazon for lots of baby products over the past year, and think that it is often a lot cheaper. I do miss poking things to see what I really think about them, and won't buy some items as I think you can't see the quality until you've felt it (blankets and clothing for example)
q2, my initial impression of Amazon family is positive. I wander how intuitive it is, and whether the offers and products will grow in line with my DS. He needs weaning products and car seats now, but does Amazon family change as he grows older?

I've bought a few things from Amazon in the past, mainly thermometers and bits like that, although I did buy a pump from Amazon as well.

In theory I quite like Amazon Family, the changing offers is appealing as well as Prime being included in it. The only thing I dislike at the moment is very few of the offers seem applicable to me.

I didn't use any of the exclusive offers as I stated above as they weren't applicable to me at the moment. I saw they were offering a free nappy bin when you buy the cassettes which had I not been using reusables I may have tried it but it still wasn't that appealing.

yes, we tend to look on amazon for most things whether baby or otherwise cos the prices tend to be better than elsewhere in a lot of cases and its v convenient and i like not paying postage. we always buy nappy cassettes from there as really expensive anywhere else

tbh ive not found it anything particularly special as we dont tend to be in a massive rush for things so not sure i would justify paying for the prime element of it, as im quite happy with the normal free postage.

i haven't used it yet, cos i will wait til i need something rather than looking round what to get just for the sake of using the offer, as i will still end up spending money which i havent got at the moment! but i think we will use the offer to stock up on wipes and nappies which we would have had to buy anyway (the 10 quid off or 25 quid off or whatever it is offer) as that will end up quite a good saving.

Yes, I have bought nappy bin liners, baby toys, books, pushchair accessories on amazon.

I think it's quite good so far. I have taken advantage of some of the offers which makes it feel like I'm receiving something back for all my baby spending that I normally do on Amazon anyway.
