NOW CLOSED: Tesco’s Naturally Powered (antibacterial spray or non-bio washing powder) product testers review thread

AnnMumsnet · 01/05/2012 14:54

This thread is for the 1000 Mumsnetters who are trying out the Naturally Powered range of cleaning products by Tesco.

If you don't know about these products, here's what Tesco has to say:

"In the past, green cleaning products have been let down by their performance. Working closely with a team of chemists, scientists and environmental experts, we have created the Naturally Powered range of eco cleaning products - specially formulated to have a reduced impact on the environment than other leading products and with the cleaning performance you'd expect."

Mumsnetters have been testing either the antibacterial spray or the non-bio washing powder. In addition, all testers received a trial-sized sachet of washing up liquid.

If you are a tester, please state which product you were testing and answer the questions below - feel free to also add any other comments you may have.

Everyone who adds their comments to this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one person will win £200 of Tesco vouchers.

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Q1. Assumed that they wouldn't have the cleaning power of my usual cleaners etc

Q2. I thought they washed really well, evrything came out clean and fresh. The fragrance is too weak and doesn't last long enough.

Q3. As far as I could tell it worked as well as my usual product in terms of cleaning, however I havent tried it on "tough stains" ir grass stains, blackcurrant etc

Q4. It's not really something I think about

Q5.No, because I like my clothes, bedding etc to keep their just washed fragrance and this product doesnt do that.

Q6. The fragrance.

Q7. No because I prefer other products. If they were specifically looking for a "green" product I would recommend it :)

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I've used method cleaning products for a while esp the bathroom cleaner, but I don't like the smell of their kitchen cleaner so was happy to try this one instead. Have also tried tesco own brand environmentally friendly kitchen cleaner in the past.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
Used this product to replace the cif antibac spray I was using before, did the job just as well and smells really nice - so much so that my friend came for coffee and commented on how nice the kitchen smelt.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
maybe needed a bit more elbow grease to clean my manky cooker than the cif one does, but on the plus side didn't make me wheeze or cough and did the job.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I find that "green" products don't catch in my throat the way other products do and I'm not as concerned about them leaving residues in food prep areas.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Yes, finally found a kitchen cleaner with green credentials that I like.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
None, I really liked the product

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Already have done, friend who liked the smell went and bought some the next day

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? Had no opinion as did not know about them

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products? Wash powder smelt nice in box but didnt last on the clothes, sadly the wash powder did not manage to shift the everyday stains even though i followed the instructions

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? Twice the price and did not work as well

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? I would like to say yes, but realistically my budget rules what I buy

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? No too costly and did not work

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? Better stain removal

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? no, not very pleased with results

I tested the laundry powder, sorry for late response. Mad house!

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I didn't know about this particular brand as I suppose I naturally avoid them as I have seen that 'natural' products in the past are much more expensive than usual products I use.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Performance was no better or worse than my normal non-natural non bio so yes, am happy! Difficult to comment about smell as I use softener too so washing smelt of that really. Product cleaned well so would use again.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Just as well (see above)

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, if the price was not over-inflated and not too far (or same) from the price of my current brand then I would buy it as a 'green' choice which in my mind is better than my current brand.

Price would be the deal breaker for me - if it was too expensive then I just would not buy it being on a budget.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I would buy if the price is OK and not too much.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

The cup was a bit fiddly to use - make the material clearer to see how much powder you have in it. The onething that draws me more towards laundry tablets rather than powder is that you put the powder in the drum where it is all used, rather than in the dispensing drawer for powder. All the powder does not end up in the drum which really annoys me! Could the naturally powered range have laundry tablets too? And a softener?

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Probably, yes. If I had started to use it if the price was right.

Wolfordwonder · 10/05/2012 14:32

Q1. Hadn't heard of them, but would have been sceptical of a large corporation manufacturing 'Eco' products, for no reason other than I'm a devoted ecover user, and I assume they are made by a company only dealing with one type of product. May be ignorant though!

Q2. I tested the kitchen spray, the smell was pleasant, the packaging felt more 'minimal'than other spray products, which I liked.

Q3. Yes did a good job, was excellent on stainless steel surfaces.

Q4. Green credentials are very important, yes would be influenced by this.

Q5. Yes, if shopping in tesco would certainly look for it and other products in the range. Will be interested to see how cost compares to ecover.

Q6. Maybe a refillable system - refills avail in Eco disposable pouches/bags?

Q7. Yes, if came up in conversation, I've not seen any advertising for this range so would let fellow ecover users know about this

Thanks for inviting me to be part of survey tesco & mumsnet!

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I had never heard of them but my preconception was that they probably would not do the job as good as regular products and with the powder, i did not expect them to be as thoroughly cleaned.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I was impressed with the powder, i thought my clothes were really clean and happy that the powder residue was not left all over my clothes! Didnt notice a scent.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I thought it was a better powder than any i have previously used, really impressed!

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not important to me and not something i look for in any product. It would normally affectmy decision to buy as i tend to think they are not as good as regular products but not after trying the powder, i would definitely reconsider.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I think i will definitely purchase as i am impressed at how good it was.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Would prefer a better cup to scoop the powder out of the box and i did not really like the powder sealed in a clear bag. Would prefer it loose in the box.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend and explain how dubious i was before trying and the outcome!

dogindisguise · 10/05/2012 14:43

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Hadn't heard of them.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I used the anti-bac spray. It was fine.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

About the same.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Important - I like to buy the green versions of products provided they are effective but often find my husband has bought something else.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

Probably

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Could the packaging be reduced?

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes.

WeybridgeWifey · 10/05/2012 15:00

Finally got round to doing this! I tested the antibacterial spray...

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
Hadn't realised Tesco had a range. I usually buy Method or Ecover.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The smell of the spray was fine/lemony, easy to wipe off etc. I don't know how effective the anti-bacterial agent is as I don't have necessary testing equipment. I used it on baby's change mat and bubba hasn't come out in a rash or anything, so assuming effective but safe/gentle.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
I haven't come across an eco antibacterial spray before - so no comparison. Reassuring to have something anti-bacterial as little one had had mouth and foot virus!

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Very important. I choose non-toxic, eco brands for cleaning whenever I can.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
May buy some but I prefer the smell of Method products.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

The smell, and information about the product on pack - why is it eco, how toxic/safe is it for children/pets.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Might mention that there is a range but would recommend Method products first.

Clair80 · 10/05/2012 15:13

Q1. To be honest I had not seen any of these Naturally Powered products before this test. I had never seen any in store nor seen any advertising for them.

Q2. I was quite surprised at how good the product was. On first use, the spray smelt very over powering but after using it a couple of times I soon got used to it. It cleans my kitchen surfaces well but cleans my bathroom even better.

Q3. I think in the bathroom the spray worked better than my usual products but in the kitchen the result I found was just the same, the only slight difference being that you don't need to use as much.

Q4. I like the idea of using a natural product especially in the kitchen with my children and I know that it is better to use such a product not only for the environment but in terms of health as well. However, I think because it is such a natural product the price may be just that too bit much.

Q5. If the price is reasonable then I would def. buy this product. That is my only concern.

Q6. The smell: The spray is very over powering upon the first couple of uses.

Q7. I would recommend this product as I know that many of my family and friends are concerened about the amount of spray which they use (esp. in the kitchen and like me around the children). The product is worthy of a mention.

DefiniteMaybe · 10/05/2012 15:54

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I'd not heard of them so no opinion.
Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I thought the spray was good at getting surfaces clean, but the smell is too strong and gave me headaches.
Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It worked probably slightly better than the spray I normally use.
Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'd prefer to buy "green" cleaners but struggle to find cleaners that don't give me headaches this is the most important factor to me.
Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
No, the smell is far too strong.
Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Less smelly
Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably yes, it is a good product, just too chemically smelling for me.

70percent · 10/05/2012 15:57

I was testing the non-bio powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Had a lot of blue bits in the powder

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

It cleaned fine and the smell was OK, but loads was left in the dispenser drawer of my washing machine (Hoover AAA washer-dryer). I tried reducing the amount I used but that made no difference. It was all clogged up and gone hard after each wash.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Worse because of the drawer dispenser.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

They are important but not important enough next to not clogging up the dispenser drawer!

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

No - see above.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

See above about the dispenser. I might give some to my mum or sister and see if it clogs up their dispenser drawer as much as mine.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

No - as above.

ronx · 10/05/2012 16:24

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadn't heard of them; mainly because I don't use eco washing products

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
The washing powder did the job, although it failed to get rid of tomato sauce stains. It also struggled to eliminate nasty smells from the wash; I washed a dress that my DD threw up on and I could still smell puke after it had been washed.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
It didn't work as well as a biological washing product

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Not important to me; I don't think 'green' products are particularly effective.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
No

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
n/a

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Only for a 'greenie' on a budget if the products were cheaper than Ecover or Method.

thesoo · 10/05/2012 16:30

I tested the washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? I had not really noticed them, but then I use the same brand usually so do not browse the shelves

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products? Yes, the smell was lovely, no residue and all clothes came out as clean as with my usual product

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use? They seem to work just as well, although I ususally use liquid, this product left a fair amount of powder in the drawer so a bit of a mess after each wash.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not? Do not seem to be truly 'green'. there seem to be a fair amount of chemical ingredients and a little plastic bag inside which seems a bit unnecessary. I do try to use green products wherever possible

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not? possibly. If there was a liquid version I would be more likely to.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? get rid of the little bag, makes it a faff getting the powder out

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not? possible

TequilaMockinBird · 10/05/2012 16:40

I tested the washing powder.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Had never heard of/seen them before!

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

I was a bit disappointed at the lack of smell from the product. I like my washing to smell clean as well as look clean but there seemed to be no smell at all with this product. I was happy with the performance though, DH's grubby work jeans came out clean with no problems!

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

It worked just as well as the products I usually use, without the nice clean smell though!

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Whilst I do understand their importance, they are not as important to me as other factors - ie price! We are really feeling the recession at the moment so every penny counts.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

If it is a good price/on offer then yes possibly. Although if something else was similarly priced but had a nice smell, I'd go for that one.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Make it smell nice!

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

I wouldnt recommend per se due to the issue above. However if the price was right then I'd say I'd found it a good product for 'cleaning', yes.

MumbleMumm · 10/05/2012 16:45

Questions:

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I hadn't ever really taken any notice of them. I didn't realise that Tesco did a green range of products.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I liked the paper cup that it came with, and the packaging was fine. The product worked well in comparison to my usual brands of cleaner but I was disappointed that the washing didn't smell as nice or as fresh as it does when using other brands. It kept my jumpers and cardigans nice and soft though.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
I preferred the feel of the clothes, but I didn't think they smelt as nice or as fresh as the usual brands that I would buy.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Although I like the fact that these have green credentials, it would not overly influence my decision to buy them, unless the were on offer.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I would definitely look at the Naturally Powered range now that I have had a chance to try it.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing? The smell - would make it more obvious, as the clothes just didn't smell 'washed'.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes if someone was particularly looking for green branded products, but not otherwise.

meala · 10/05/2012 17:22

Thanks for the products to test. I didn't want to review until I;d done a few loads and could really see how it worked.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

Was interested in trying them but unsure if it would clean as well as my usual product.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

The washing powder worked well. Cleaned as well as other products. Like other reviewers, I found quite a lot of residue in my drawer on a few occasions.
The smell was pleasant, felt the same as usual.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

Just as well

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

If an environmentally friendly product was as economical and worked as well as other products then I would buy it.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

It would depend on the price. I also would like to use it a bit longer to make sure my DCs sensitive skin is not irritated by the powder.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Remove the plastic wrapping inside the box, not the most environmentally friendly material.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I'm not sure, I would need to use it a bit longer before recommending.

stinkingbishop · 10/05/2012 17:42

I tested the non bio washing powder and a small sachet of the washing up liquid.

In brief: there was only enough liquid to do one test so I torture tested it on a casserole dish I'd left for 3 days (my bad, I do have twins though, washing goes by the by!) It worked brilliantly - really quick, lathered well, smelt nice, got everything off at the first attempt.

Washing powder was 'fine' but for had to wash poo stained babygros again at 60 degrees to remove it.

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

An own label Ecover.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Washing up liquid - yes. Detergent - only for regular washes (see above).

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I'm a brand girl, sorry - powder wasn't as good as Ariel. Liquid was on a par with Fairy.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Given a) recession and b) the practical demands of a household with twins, efficacy and cost rule the roost but then, all things being equal, if it also has green credentials that would sway me.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

I basically only shop online now for my supermarket shop given the twins, and usually use Sainsburys, so no.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

Smell was nice, but a bit strong. Kinda undermines the natural feel.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Not sure what conversation it would come up in ;) But I'd say it was fine and, if cheaper, go for it (but maybe have a pack of Ariel for harder stains).

LeeCoakley · 10/05/2012 17:47

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I ignored them as I thought Tesco's own line was called Naturals which I had used in the past.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
I liked the washing powder, it worked well and smelt nice.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
I use Ecover (when I can afford it) and there was no difference.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
Very important. I use very little chemicals in the house. I wouldn't buy this otherwise. No detergent in the wash is best but this product makes it smell nice!

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Yes I would buy this as my regular detergent but it would have to be cheaper than Ecover which I buy in bulk when it's on offer.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
None to the product. The name is odd and I prefer the old Naturals.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I have already.

ChipSkater · 10/05/2012 18:03

Thank You for the opportunity to test the anti-bac spray

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?

I hadn't seen them, but have used Tesco Naturally products for some time. Thought they may be the same products repackaged.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Yes, it did the job, I wasn't amazed by it, but it smelt quite pleasant.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

It worked as well as my usual products.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

Fairly important, I like to try and be a bit environmentally conscious where I can and I always buy green where possible.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?

No, I prefer the smell of my usual products, and although the naturally powered cleaned just as well as them, my kitchen 'feels' a lot cleaner with my usual products.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?

The packaging is very flimsy. I found the trigger gun is not secure and turns around easily and i had lots of leaks and drips.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, I wasn't overly impressed.

bracken101 · 10/05/2012 18:14

I tested the washing powder.

Here are my thoughts on the antibacterial spray.
Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them? I hadn't heard of them before this test. And even if I had, I probably wouldn't have paid much attention, as pretty much every shop sells 'own brand' products and the 'green' cleaners are the 'IT' right now - so it would've been just another one out there.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?
Overall, it was alright, but nothing to get excited about. The smell was pleasant, though lingered for quite a while (could become annoying if used in a small confined space, like a W/C).
The package is pretty 'generic' looking and doesn't really have anything to differentiate itself from others. The bottle seems to be cheaply made and the label design is hardly anything to speak about.
The ingredients, in their majority, are hardly natural. That makes me question the whole 'green' aspect of it.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?
The spray worked well as a general-purpose cleaner, no worse and no better than any other spray I tried. I don't have microscope-powered vision, so can't judge on the antibacterial properties, would just need to trust the label on that one.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?
It would definitely affect my decision. As a family, we strive to be as eco-friendly as possible. In my decision to purchase a cleaner, I prefer the ones that would have the least impact on my family's wellbeing and the environment - even at the cost of a slightly less effective perfromance.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
Probably not, as the product doesn't seem to be any different from the others. I would sooner choose a brand that's actually different - with ALL natural ingredients, packaged in bio-degradable materials or offering some other benefit (such as percent-donation to WWF or similar).

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
Packaging - needs to be addressed. Ideally, it would be bio-degradable and/or readily re-usable. It would need to be designed to stand out, rather than being 'another one' on the shelves. It's the same colour, height and design as anything else out there.
Better labelling is also essential - it needs to state exactly what's in the bottle (even listing some ingredients in 'plain English') and why. Any of the 'eco' points need to be better emphasised, as the brand tries to establish itself as 'green'.
The packaging would also help with better product positioning and differentiation, establishing the brand's standing in the 'eco'-budget line niche.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
Unless it's re-worked, probably not. It's not that clearly 'green', doesn't work any better than other 'eco' brands and the smell doesn't say 'natural', as the product is quite heavily perfumed.

We got the washing powder. I was surprised at the small amount needed! It smelt lovely although it struggled with a toddler's stains on white clothes do had to resort to vanish sometimes! I use other Natural products & this compares well. I love the green credentials!!

I tested the washing powder

Q1. What was your opinion of the Naturally Powered products before using them?
I had never heard of them - I tend to charge around Tesco in a bit of a hurry and pick up whatever I am familiar with. In terms of my opinion when I received the product, I liked the simplicity of the packaging and the little dispensing cup was a pleasant change from the plastic measuring 'balls' that we are used to.

Q2. After using the products, what was your over all opinion? Did the products work? Were you happy with the performance? Did you like the smell and feel of the products?

Initial impressions were very good. It has a pleasant smell, that is not overpowering, the powder looks old-school - nothing pretentious about it. We used it successfully at a range of temperatures and didn't have the problem with an accumulation of powder in the drawer that other posters seem to have done. In terms of negatives; the washing came out clean, but no cleaner than with our usual product. The clothes felt crispier than usual , which is not great, particularly with towels and sheets. OUr one major complaint was that it seemed to cause a rash on our children's faces. I washed all of the bedding using the powder and the next day my DH and I noticed that both of them had red patches on their cheeks, almost like eczema. It might just have been a coincidence, but it does seem that the irritation was localised to where their skin had been in direct contact with the pillowcases.

Q3. How did the products compare to your usual cleaning products? Did it work just as well, better or worse than the products you usually use?

I don't think there is a vast difference. We had no complaints about our usual product (Tesco non-bio liquid) and the Naturally Powered powder was not so impressive as to persuade us to swap. The quality of the wash was similar, as was the strength of scent. However, and most importantly, our usual product does not provoke a reaction in our children's skin, so in that area the NP product is much inferior.

Q4. How important are the green credentials of the Naturally Powered range to you? Would this affect your decision to buy? If so, why? If not, why not?

At the moment our choices are dictated by our budget so, selfishly, green credentials have to take a backseat, If they were reasonably priced then it is something we would consider.

Q5. Will you continue to buy the Tesco Naturally Powered range? If so, why? If not why not?
I wouldn't continue to buy the powder for the reasons given above but I liked the sample of washing-up liquid and we be open to trying the anti-bacterial spray.

Q6. What, if any, improvements would you make to the Naturally Powered products you were testing?
A bit more dermatological testing please. Apart from that, nothing ? it does the job.

Q7. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the products to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would but I would mention the fact that it was harsh on the skin and the sheets felt slightly crispy. Hopefully my friends would then be able to make up their own minds.

Finally, thank you for the opportunity to test the product ? I felt empowered (no pun intended!)

Not sure why there are random numbers and symbols in my post above. Apologies!
