With reference to this thead do let us know who you'd like to try.

As we said, we'll consult more on people who approach us and in that spirit we should let you know that we're planning to have Tana Ramsay on next Monday lunchtime... (she's promoting her new book) so if anyone has any Scheherazade-type feelings shout now!

Swedes We have all written Wish Lists before haven't we?

MNHQFGuestListDept: Ahhh, ye-es.

Swedes: I remember Will Self and Germaine Greer being requested. Oh and Will Self. And many others. Did anyone ask for Tony Parsons?

MNHQGuestListDept: Well, um, no but, yeah but, nooooo. No they didn't.

Swedes: So is there any point asking us again. Might it be more sensible for us to ask you who you can get?

MNHQGuestListDept: Good idea, we like to involve our members in our decision making. Yes, do that. Ask us who we can get?

Swedes: Who can we get to come and do the next live webchat?

MNHQGuestListDept: We've been in touch with ChantelleBigBrother9's people and we think we can get her.

i would be embarrassed to go to dinner with any of them actually

not because they are embarrassing but because i would be too shy

CharleeInChains · 07/10/2008 17:42

You would seriously take this over this?

Bizzare!

Saturn74 · 07/10/2008 17:43

swedes.

DonDons · 07/10/2008 17:44

it was a business after-dinner speech and it was a bit 'blah blah blah it's wonderful to be here in type speech'

He reeled out a load of cliches about the city we live in (full monty/steel industry/ee bye gum) etc and didn't really say anything of interest or have any original thoughts/opinions. Very dissapointing.

He did say hello to me in the bar though.

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2008 17:46

oh right it wasnt a personal tete a tete

In no particular order...

Germaine Greer
Doris Lessings
Naomi Wolfe
Daniel Pennac
Margaret Meek
Helen Bee
Jocelyn Bell Burnell

... or ask Dawn French she has a book out she wants to plug and everyone really likes her! Infact I suspect... do you think... yes... I bet she is a Mumsnetter anyway- don't you?

Pinions · 07/10/2008 17:59

That's it !

Fabio = Dawn French.

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 18:00

Urmmm actually... does Daniel Pennac speak English???

  • If yes just Daniel Pennac
  • If no also a really good translator

Thanks Mumsnet!!!

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 18:06

Pinions -

TotalChaos · 07/10/2008 18:15

Jodi Piccoult.

Lionel Shriver.

bran · 07/10/2008 18:46

Teafortwo, is Doris Lessing still alive? I think she was a bit to scarily intelligent for me. I was a bit wary of asking ToPa questions in case he sneered at their inanity, I'd be much too inhibited to ask Doris Lessing anything. Even if I did pluck up the courage to ask something I'm not sure I'd understand the answer.

Cappuccino · 07/10/2008 18:58

this woman I listen to her podcasts

pointydog · 07/10/2008 19:03

Jennifer Saunders. I would like that.

Tana Ramsay, oh surely not. That's, like, one step up from Gary Rhodes.

I want someone funny, fgs. With a personality.

pointydog · 07/10/2008 19:06

oh I love Jamie Oliver. I love him.

He had a cokkery show on last Chrsitmas Eve and he just started decking himself - for no obvious reason, it must be said - when his old Italian guest ate a mince pie. And I thought, I'd like to crease myself laughing with cuddly, straightforward, simple Jamie.

Sometimes you really don't want depth.

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 19:52

Bran... look loooooook look....

www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/womanshour/01/2008_35_mon.shtml

  • Lessings is alive, completely human, interesting, witty, complex, insiteful, contradictory, learned and has interesting and unusual ideas on motherhood...she is probably an mner anyway so why not invite her in formally???!!!???

Pointydog... urm... sorry...what sort of show did Jamie Olver have last Christmas eve???

teafortwo · 07/10/2008 19:55

Jamie Olver??? Whoops - meant Jamie Oliver - note to self never throw stones!!!!

CharleeInChains · 07/10/2008 19:56

PointyDog i may just be in love with you for your last post.

zippitippitoes · 07/10/2008 19:56

boarderb · 07/10/2008 19:57

Susie Orbach

FabioCatello · 07/10/2008 20:03

Dawn French.
