Micheal Carrington, creative director of CBeebies will be coming to chat live next weds, Jan 30th from 1-2pm. In his previous job, he brought, amongst other programmes Lunar Jim and Charlie and Lola to the BBC, and he's now editorially responsible for the CBeebies digital channel as well as for all CBeebies output on BBC ONE and BBC TWO; and for bbc.co.uk/cbeebies.

So if you've got a burning question about the future of Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy, or want to start a campaign to bring back Chigley, please join us at 1pm next weds (that was Watch with Mother time in my day ).

If you can't make it on the day, you can of course post your questions in advance here.

I am still waiting for Justin's phone number Michael....

Washersaurus · 30/01/2008 13:38

We love Chris and Justin. 2yr old DS loves Mister Maker too, esp the shapes bit.

Any plans for any language programmes like Dora?

CaptainCod · 30/01/2008 13:38

yes i may park him there to try it out.

tbh the whole channel has been a god send ofr us for 9 years... its really a feather in your cap - well done.

My2Weegirls · 30/01/2008 13:39

is sue the one that was pregnant?

fryalot · 30/01/2008 13:39

no, that was Ava

Flier · 30/01/2008 13:40

i'm sure i saw sue on citv yesterday.

yetanothername · 30/01/2008 13:40

So are there plans for some teach 'em a foreign language programme then?

Yeah, too lazy to scroll through and busy watching ITNG!

LardyMardyDaisy · 30/01/2008 13:40

Can I just say I'm glad CBeebies has more older content in it, as I feel my 5 yo is a bit young for some of the CBBC content. We used to love Little Robots, but it isn't on now and I think there were only ever about 12 episodes made. Bring it back....pleeeeese!

compared to some of the rubbish on the other channels though, CBeebies rocks

My2Weegirls · 30/01/2008 13:41

thanks for the answer - will look forward to seeing new programmes coming on

claireybee · 30/01/2008 13:41

I like Justin, but cannot stand him as Mr Tumble or in Higgledy Piggledy House. DD doesn't seem to mind though so I guess you have got it right for the target audience!

Are the cbeebies magazines down to you too? Brilliant! DD was given one over christmas and it is still keeping her entertained now!

ruty · 30/01/2008 13:42

Ava didn't last long did she? Is she coming back after baby time?

MascaraOHara · 30/01/2008 13:42

Can I ask if you're thought about running the BBC Muzzy Programme on CBeebies?

It's so expensive and looks dated but it could be great - maybe you could run it 7-8 every weekenight after CBeebies has officially shut down?

Washersaurus · 30/01/2008 13:42

I also must say that 'step inside' makes my son cry every time it comes on. I always have to check the programme guide before turning cbeebies on as it sends him running away in tears, he finds it so scary.

tortoiseSHELL · 30/01/2008 13:42

Is Cbeebies going to carry on showing Smarteenies after the tragic death of Mark Speight's girlfriend? I REALLY hope so, and that the press coverage won't cause the demise of that programme, for no reason.

My2Weegirls · 30/01/2008 13:42

thanks squonk!

MichaelCarrington · 30/01/2008 13:43

Hi claireybee - I'm so pleased you are liking our EcoBeebies initiative. I think it is very important for CBeebies to bring to life the environment and natural world where children live. We can produce content that is carefully crafted for a young audience that introduces them to the eco-themes that are important to all of us. This isn't about being didactic or scaremongering, but simply showing children how they can make a difference. Easy things like turning off the tap or the electric light. Later in the year I am launching a number of programmes that will enhance our current offerings.

Hi all - I noticed there are a few references to Sue. She was before my time, but I understand parents loved her. Well she has moved on now and the new audiences don't know who she is. So we should all move on too. Our new presenters are fantastic and doing a brilliant job. Children love them! They are modern fresh and interested in their audience.

Toothyboy · 30/01/2008 13:47

Your programme targetting for boys has worked here. DS1 is 4.9, about a year ago he was hardly watching any CBeebies, had moved to Nickjr for Backyardigans, Dora, Diego, Wonderpets etc. Now he prefers CBeebies again and rarely watches Nickjr.

Although I miss the Wonderpets, I have to say

fletchaaarr · 30/01/2008 13:47

My son loves Mr Maker and anything else along those lines. It would be really really useful if the website could have a section showing what makes are coming up over the next few weeks and what materials you need (there isn't one already is there?)

It would save me from the wails of

"but whyyyyyyyyyyy haven't we got black card, red foam and a yoghurt pot!!"

Thanks in advance

boabsmum · 30/01/2008 13:48

Where can I buy a yellow Cbeebies bug for my son?

I heard there was merchandise at the live shows. But is there any way of getting hold of that from somewhere else? At the moment he plays with an elastic band which he blobs around the house - it's very sad really!

MichaelCarrington · 30/01/2008 13:50

Hi Nbg - Balamory finshied production some two years ago - before my time. I have to say the production team did a fantastic job at creating over 300 episodes; we still show them all.

suzywong · 30/01/2008 13:51

do you mean three HUNDRED or THIRTY?

surely you mean the former?

MichaelCarrington · 30/01/2008 13:52

Dear TheOldestCat - the CBeebies garden is indeed a corner of the Blue Peter garden. The BP team were very good to allow us to use some of their patch. And we love it... it allows us to get outside once in a while.

boabsmum · 30/01/2008 13:52

300 sounds right SW - there's loads unshown apparently. SPencer came to ds' summer fete last year - he's lovely.
