Micheal Carrington, creative director of CBeebies will be coming to chat live next weds, Jan 30th from 1-2pm. In his previous job, he brought, amongst other programmes Lunar Jim and Charlie and Lola to the BBC, and he's now editorially responsible for the CBeebies digital channel as well as for all CBeebies output on BBC ONE and BBC TWO; and for bbc.co.uk/cbeebies.

So if you've got a burning question about the future of Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy, or want to start a campaign to bring back Chigley, please join us at 1pm next weds (that was Watch with Mother time in my day ).

If you can't make it on the day, you can of course post your questions in advance here.

please show more Postman Pat! dd loves it! its not shown at the mo so I'm stuck watching the same dvd over and over and over and over etc etc

fryalot · 30/01/2008 12:31

so many things I want to say, so little time...

  1. Please STOP moving Cbeebies on BBC2 to a ridiculous time just because the schools are on holiday and you want to put CBBC on in the 8.30 to 10.30 slot - toddlers do not understand why their tv viewing routine has changed through no fault of their own.
  1. Please arrange for Justin Fletcher to be given a knighthood forthwith.
  1. Give us some more girl presenters, please, and prefereably someone not quite so girly as Sarah Jane (why is she advertising that car sales place, btw? don't you pay her enough?)
  1. Make some Something Special DVDs - my brother and sister in law would definitely buy them to help with the Makaton they are doing with their daughter, but they don't have sky/freeview so can't watch SS on the telly.

that's it for now, but if I think of anything else, I'll come back to you.

(welcome to mumsnet btw )

Yes, Pui is lovely, but why is she surrounded my men only?

Boogie beebies is awful
please no more!

There needs to be more for the older age range ie 5/6/7 yr olds, where cbbc is too old for them.

Space pirates is fab.

brimfull · 30/01/2008 12:42

Numberjacks is fab

chrissnow · 30/01/2008 12:42

Give Justin a pay rise and more shows. He's just so Genuine. Pui, Chris and Sid are also fab. Andy is 'growing' on me. Do not ever ever put that Model Millie programme back on - ever.

DaDaDa · 30/01/2008 12:42

More Lucy Cohu storytelling please.

chrissnow · 30/01/2008 12:44

If you need another female presenter (which it sounds like you do) I'm available . . . I'm not very pretty so I won't alienate the mums out there!!! Can't sing, Can't dance (will go far!!!)

My2Weegirls · 30/01/2008 12:45

chrissnow - i've been sitting here for ages trying to remember the name of Model Millie to say never ever put it on again - it's awful (DD1 hated it too). DD1 also dislikes Andy - says he scares her.

MegaLegs · 30/01/2008 12:45

Good - INTG, Charlie and Lola, Something Special (can't wait for new series)Little Red Tractor

Bad - Boogie beebies, Clifford, Me too, Tweenies (buit I have been watching it for 8 years).

Just plain scarey and sinister - Underground Ernie, (Their weird mouths freak me out)and the numberjacks.

Pleased to see you have stopped doing the coming next thing

yetanothername · 30/01/2008 12:46

New Autumnwatch and Springwatch would be fab!

Some foreign language learning, probably French as that seems to be what most kids start learning first at school.

Pop some retro stuff on there, you know you want to! Bod! Ivor the Engine! Paddington Bear! Wombles! Or whatever was on the BBC when I was growing up! (apologies if I've inadvertantly mentioned ITV programmes!)

chrissnow · 30/01/2008 12:47

My2WeeGirls - That name is burned into my brain. Even when I'm old and feeble the memory of Model Millie will make me shudder!!

Justine888 · 30/01/2008 12:47

Could me get some WIGGLES stuff on please? My 18 month old loves "In the Night Garden" but we have to resort to Wiggles DVD's for her. Kids go nuts for The Wiggles!
More Charlie & Lola too. They're wonderful!

ladytophamhatt · 30/01/2008 12:47

Tweenies need to put in retirement too.
They seem to be repeated almost weekly.....same with storymakers, I love bluecow but purrrrlease revamp the programme with new stories, presenters, set....ohh I dunno just about everything, might be easier just to bin them both IMO.

MegaLegs · 30/01/2008 12:47

Oh yes Bod and Mary, Mugo and Midge.

MegaLegs · 30/01/2008 12:47

Mungo

sagitta · 30/01/2008 12:48

We're big fans of ITNG, but how does all the nonsense rhyme help children learn to speak?

ruty · 30/01/2008 12:51

AutumnWatch and SpringWatch wonderful. So lovely, and the music too.
Andy doesn't quite have Sid's ease I must say but then Sid's been doing it a while [and he's the only fanciable man on Cbeebies, Sid, apart from Sportacus that is]

sherbydrivinginhercar · 30/01/2008 12:51

Tweenies - Gone
BoogieBeebies - Gone

More Something Special
More INTG

ruty · 30/01/2008 12:53

Ds heavily into Captain Pugwash since we got a DVD free with the Sunday Times. Would love to see Paddington Bear again, ds loves the books. The Clangers perhaps?

sherbydrivinginhercar · 30/01/2008 12:54

Oh more Pinky Dinky Doo

Justine888 · 30/01/2008 12:54

I agree sherbydrivinginhercar - my kids ask me to change the channel whenever The Tweenies or BoogieBeebies come on. They're awful.

My2Weegirls · 30/01/2008 12:58

we're also big fans of the cbeebies website too.

are there any plans to extend the viewing i.e. before 6am? i have 1 dd who thinks the day starts at 5.30am (and short of tying her to her bed have no chance of getting her to stay in bed never mind back to sleep).

bagpuss · 30/01/2008 12:59

Please bring back Sue!

Numberjacks is fab - ds2 is 2.6 and it is his favourite thing on Cbeebies.

I also think that all new parents should be subjected to Zingalong (which was screened about 6 years ago) then they would appreciate how marvellous the new programmes you have are .
