Hi I had my results back yesterday from my blood test that I had at my 12 week scan, they came back high risk for downs 1:98
or 1.1% chance. I don't know all terminology but the midwife said the measurement from back of neck was fine my hormones in blood were fine and there was no detection of downs in my blood the only thing that she thinks made this result is my age (I'm 42) I had bloods done yes5for NIPT test so now it's the 10 day wait, im 1 day in and I feel l8ke I'm going crazy, I can't think about anything else, I feel so sad, my husband is trying to help me be positive but I'm finding it hard especially with having had 2 miscarriages in the past year. Has anyone got any advice or similar stories to share
Thanks x

Hello,

This is probably not the right board for this I would ask @mNHQ to move the board for you.

I have no advice or help but I hope this all works out for you.

Yes it's your age that's increasing the risk.

I was 1:23 age 40 because my bloods were slightly off as well.

I found reading lots of positive info and stories about children with down syndrome helped while I was waiting for the results to come through, but that's very personal.

Ds2 did not have down syndrome and my pregnancy was uneventful from that point on. That's by far the most likely oitcome for you as well.

Hi, just thought I would share my experience. I have 4 children already, my eldest being 20! I am having a surprise pregnancy at 42 years old. We were given the NHS screening test which came back at 1:18 and NF was 2.99 mm.

I refused amnio due to risk of miscarriage and opted for NIPT instead Came back as high risk. I have researched and researched and researched and accepted baby will have DS. We are under care of fetal medicine and baby is doing fabulous. Currently 30 weeks. I experienced fear, anxiety, cried lots etc at first but have now accepted it and am actually excited. She is just a baby at the end of the day and will just be a different journey with this one. I am determined to make it work and for her to have a full and happy life xxx
