MNHQ here: got a question for the Prime Minister?

RhiannonEMumsnet · 29/05/2022 12:03

Hi all,

We’re pleased to tell you that next week Justine will be sitting down with Prime Minister Boris Johnson to ask him Mumsnet users’ questions.

If you have a question you'd like answering, you can post it below. Please stick to the usual guidelines - one question per user, keep it civil, and if one topic is dominating, please don't continue to post what's effectively the same question or point. We'll be limited for time so do keep questions as short as possible so that we’re able to ask more of them - as always, we'll try to make sure we cover the topics that we know are important to Mumsnet users.

We'll be closing this thread at noon on Monday, so please do get your questions in before that - and watch this space to hear how the Prime Minister responds.

Thanks,
MNHQ

Deauville12422 · 29/05/2022 13:55

What are you going to do about NHS dentistry? Your party has been killing it for more than a decade.

ODFOx · 29/05/2022 13:55

Mr Johnson, as a parent, would you most hope that your children grow up to be powerful or honourable? Which do you believe to be more important?

TimBoothseyes · 29/05/2022 13:59

Why should we believe anything you say when it has been proved that you are a habitual liar?

Libertaire · 29/05/2022 13:59

I’m no fan of Johnson, but fair play to the guy. He’s got grandes cojones to agree to this. He must know the reception he’s going to get…

AlternativePerspective · 29/05/2022 14:00

Exactly how do you intend to get more people with disabilities into work?

The access to work scheme is on the brink of collapse, with people waiting 4 times longer for an assessment than this time last year.

I was offered a job in a government organisation in 2019 which was withdrawn in 2020 because the system wasn’t accessible, and they refused to give me even a hypothetical start date so I could get ATW involved.

Earlier this year I had an assessment invite for the London Ambulance service withdrawn because they refused to make reasonable adjustments for me to do a typing test as a part of the interview. Both organisations claim to be disability confident employers.

Between 75/85% of people with a visual impairment are out of work, and government services are making that figure worse.

It’s taken 3 months of going to the job centre to be told that we have a disability employment adviser there, I have never seen the same job coach twice, and the general attitude is one of surprise that I would want to work given I have a disability.

cooroocoocoo · 29/05/2022 14:04

Will you add back the references to honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability to the ministerial code?

Why should ministers be any less accountable than the civil servants who carry out their orders?

MoreHairyThanScary · 29/05/2022 14:05

Libertaire- it's not big balls he's got, he has no concerns about the reception he'll get as he doesn't think that the questions will have any impact...and why would he? He's dragged the office of the prime minister and parliament through more sleaze and corruption than any other British politician in recent history, why would he be concerned about this.

(He's also a raving misogynist so what could a bunch of (mostly) women have to say!)

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 29/05/2022 14:05

Would you recommend Rwanda as a holiday destination?

elastamum · 29/05/2022 14:09

Following the government example set under your leadership, is it now ok for us ordinary people to break laws that we find inconvenient or don't agree with?

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 29/05/2022 14:10

Libertaire · 29/05/2022 13:59

I’m no fan of Johnson, but fair play to the guy. He’s got grandes cojones to agree to this. He must know the reception he’s going to get…

You do know how it works? He will be given sanitised, pre approved questions, with no input from real mnetters. We may as well just post questions that he may answer honestly.

So my question is
'Is the Pope Catholic?'
Although I'd wonder if he could answer that truthfully.

Zonder · 29/05/2022 14:10

Will you please consider serving the people of this country rather than yourself and your rich friends and family?

Sorry, it's really hard to come up with a question that doesn't show him up.

Eve · 29/05/2022 14:12

Same question I asked you to ask Rishi and you didn’t - do again why is this country so shit for so many people?

francesfrankenfurter · 29/05/2022 14:13

Cani break laws I don't agree with?

francesfrankenfurter · 29/05/2022 14:15

What one word you use to describe yourself?

palesco · 29/05/2022 14:18

How are you going to address the real term cut to the budgets that schools are facing. Please do not say you are spending more on education because that it insulting to those of us that are wondering where we will make the saving.
We have had to cut back on staff yearly for around 5 years now. Our increasing energy costs this year alone is equivalent to 2 full time TAs.
We are dealing with a huge increase in referrals for children with ASC, ADHD and anxiety, with waitlists of 2 years to be seen by external agencies.
The £20 cut to UC is already having a real impact on some of our families, before this years price rises really start to bite.
On top of this we are struggling to retain staff who are not earning enough to live in SE, so are moving to other areas or changing to better paid professions.
Let's not forget the pressure from OFSTED, who are concerned with none of the above.
Could the PM please give me a reason to be optimistic about the education sector in increasingly bleak times.

wellhelloitsme · 29/05/2022 14:19

"If you have a question you'd like answering, you can post it below"

He's not going to 'answer' any questions though, he's going to bluster his way through bullshit bingo and / or flat out lie.

As per.

noblegiraffe · 29/05/2022 14:20

Given that he was sacked as Defence Secretary for leaking state secrets and was then widely acknowledged as a terrible Education Secretary, particularly over his mismanagement of the covid exams fiasco which adversely affected thousands of children, why exactly did you give Gavin Williamson a knighthood?

ShandaLear · 29/05/2022 14:20

Do you have any clue what will happen if you try to impose a border between Ireland and Northern Ireland? Do you even realise that you have jeopardised peace in NI with your disingenuous protocol? Do you even care?

anniegun · 29/05/2022 14:20

What would it take for you to resign?

ShandaLear · 29/05/2022 14:21

What was your favourite song at Carrie’s famous ABBA party?

ShandaLear · 29/05/2022 14:22

Do you get sick of apologising to the House of Commons?

ShandaLear · 29/05/2022 14:24

Are you embarrassed that you have managed to bring such shame to the Office of Prime Minister?

ShandaLear · 29/05/2022 14:25

Can you get through this interview without telling a pack of lies to an incredulous audience?

C8H10N4O2 · 29/05/2022 14:28

Interesting timing with the by elections coming up.

However since his answer to every question about health, education, childcare etc gets a boiler plate statement about "spending more money than every before" rather than an actual answer I struggle to see the point.

We all know his position on honesty, integrity and holding people to account which its comes to him or his cronies.
We all know his attitudes to the rule of law when applied to him.

If he is here to cash in on a bit of Jubilee gloss and rabble rouse on the culture wars for the by elections then frankly I'll be disappointed with HQ for having him.
