Sunday Times columnist India Knight will be joining us here on Monday 2nd July from 9-10pm for a live chat. India has just published her first children's book 'The Baby' which is about a big brother's relationship with his new baby sister - an absolute must for second-time parents. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

I've often disagreed with India's ST columns (easily fixed, that, I stopped buying the paper) but other than that I like her. And her first novel made me laugh a lot (was it don't you want me baby? Anyway, I liked it) And I want to know her chat name too, gwan, gwan.

I thought it was Kathryn Flett who did the whole divorce by column thing. Or perhaps it was both of them. It does seem to be rather the thing...

Oh God no India is a much finer journalist than Liz Jones, who would hardly be on mn as she considers her cats to be her 'furry children'

India, are you and Neris still corresponding daily about your diets and have you managed to keep the weight off?
Also do you really think that you must give up alcohol for the first few months of any weightloss programme(you can probably guess where my Weight Watchers diet is failing me)?

It was Kathryn Flett, Liz Jones and India Knight...yawn.

She's okay most of the time. Until she starts pontificating about the fucking obvious.

As in her column yesterday.

'Little Thug Johnny needs more space to play in.'

No shit, India?

What a novel idea in today's twisted parody of Dickensonian Britain.

Tell me, India, pray, do you have any clever ideas how to pay for low-income working families to all have gardens and space to play in?

meandmyflyingmachine · 02/07/2007 10:56

I like her colums, but I don't see how the "don't put your children in childcare" and "don't take a career break" opinions can be reconciled.

Or perhaps the answer to cod's question will illuminate things...

Do you still follow your diet and if so, what is your BMI now?

Never heard of her. Can't bring myself to read the Sunday Times or any novels about small children
Get enough of that in real life.

Sunday Times journalist with Opinions. Some of which are well informed, some of which read suspiciously like bigoted claptrap, all of which do get you reading.

Quattro. That doesn't encourage me to read the link.
How about asking why she writes bigotted claptrap?

India I like your column a lot (it's the only bit of the sunday times I read. I thought your recent ones on internet child porn and on the McCanns were great.

My question is - how does it work when you are are columnist? Do you choose what to write about or do you sometimes have to force an opinion on something you don't really give a toss about, just because it's current and in the news?

India, two stone down, two to go, and I'm sort of stuck on a plateau (losing/gaining the same bloody 6lbs for months now) - do you have any tips for moving on?

That's it expat, well done you.

Have you moved yet? I'm going to be in Edinburgh next Feb/March for the rugby. I went there for my 21st, best weekend I ever had.
