Sunday Times columnist India Knight will be joining us here on Monday 2nd July from 9-10pm for a live chat. India has just published her first children's book 'The Baby' which is about a big brother's relationship with his new baby sister - an absolute must for second-time parents. If you can't make the chat you can post your questions in advance here.
Hope to see you here on Monday.

[out of depth]

smellysmelly · 02/07/2007 21:33

do you belive people should follow book about parenting or do you believe in mothers instincts

expatinscotland · 02/07/2007 21:34

Oh, no, NOT camping!

Camping's what you do in your twenties when you're a dirtbag hillwalker or climber and still smoking pot.

A friend of mine has a beautiful little boy who, until about a year ago, could say about two words. He was 4 at that point. Since then he has been attending a brilliant school in Ealing that's part of Nuffield Hospital (if I am getting this right) and he is now talking and repeating everythng he hears, more or less. But here's the twist. They are shutting the place down because there's only a few kids there - but the problem is hardly anyone knows it exists. If they did there would be hundreds of kids clamouring to get in. THe whole consultation process has been a farce - so much so that all the experts on the pupils' side have removed themselves from the process, rather than be part of something so corrupt. Can you help? Can I get her to contact you?

Have you ever met Gina Ford, in the flesh? Do you think we could ever get her on here for a live chat

WendyWeber · 02/07/2007 21:34

(Sorry, missed your self-flagellation, this thread is way too quick )

indiaknight · 02/07/2007 21:34

SS - thanks re camping tip.

SS: totally instincts. Tho when had first one was very reassured by Penelope Leach, so not against them per se. Just againt.... bossiness.

Piffle · 02/07/2007 21:35

Yes salient point...
Would be much more healthy for body and soul to use writing as a catharthis rather than booze and wall punching.

Boco · 02/07/2007 21:35

Cod is your guilty pleasure clean sheets? That's not really very guilty - that's just hygienic surely.

Wotznot2know · 02/07/2007 21:35

If you ever consider doing a style piece "Whizzz' makes lovely jewellery. See her profile. MN has hidden talents.

ahundredtimes · 02/07/2007 21:35

Not every day Boco, that's just plain guilty.

bellabelly · 02/07/2007 21:35

India - what advice do you have for soon-to-be mum (my twins are due in 5 weeks...)

indiaknight · 02/07/2007 21:35

Willow - get her to email me via the blog and mark her post 'SN' in the subj line, otherwise spam filter will eat. Is outrageous, would gladly do all can to help.

Tutter · 02/07/2007 21:36

The battle for many of us often starts just trying to get a friggin' DX out of the paeds.

And just goes on and on from there.

Tutter · 02/07/2007 21:36

(am liking use of colon - will adopt)

ahundredtimes · 02/07/2007 21:36

Am trying to think of a sensible question:

Who has been the biggest influence in your life to date?

Sensible, but boring, sorry. Feel free to ignore.

Tutter · 02/07/2007 21:37

lapin, get that blardy phase eight one like everybody else

indiaknight · 02/07/2007 21:37

BB: Many congrats. Relax and be happy. Dust doesn't matter. Piles of unwashed dishes are quite chic. Just make nests with your lovely babies.

WendyWeber · 02/07/2007 21:37

India, how did you come to be called India? Colonial family?

Boco · 02/07/2007 21:38

Well every day 100 is more of an ocd issue. But cod changes sheets on fridays. - she used to have a programme and try to make everyone change sheets on a friday.

INdia, how often do you change your sheets?

indiaknight · 02/07/2007 21:38

100times: do you know, I don't know. How weird. Will keep thinking. I am very INSPIRED by my dd, but that's not the same thing
