Hello,

We’re pleased to announce a webchat with the leader of the Labour Party (and candidate in the current leadership election) Jeremy Corbyn MP on Monday 19 September at 2pm.

Jeremy has been MP for Islington North since 1983, and before 2015 was best known as a rebellious backbencher and chair of the Stop the War coalition. His leadership of Labour over the past year has inspired enthusiastic support as well as attracting sustained criticism. Among other things, he’s taken a new crowd-sourced approach to Prime Minister’s Questions, opposed military intervention in Syria and proposed the renationalisation of the railways.

His last webchat on Mumsnet (alongside fellow leadership candidate in 2015, Liz Kendall) featured lively discussions about socialism, electability and the provenance of Jeremy’s vests (Holloway Road market, since you ask).

Please do join the chat on Monday at 2, or if you can’t make it, leave a question here in advance. If you know people who you think would like to ask Jeremy a question, do please share the link around on social media too.

(If you’re interested in our webchat with the other Labour leadership candidate Owen Smith, take a look here .)

As always, please do keep in mind our webchat guidelines - one question each, follow-ups if there’s time and above all, keep it civil [taps nose like that geezer Shaw Taylor in Police 5] (Horribly showing my age there).

Heads up - webchat with Jeremy Corbyn Monday 19th Sept @ 2pm.

"I'm so sick of supposedly left wing men shitting all over women's rights. "

Amen

GenerallyOffended · 19/09/2016 13:36

Under your leadership can you please ask that the police start recording crimes commited by trans people under the label trans?

At the moment transwomens crimes are being recorded as by women.

This will skew the statistics dramatically when you consider what a tiny fraction of sexual based violence is committed by women and how transwomen continue to retain a male pattern of criminality after 'transition' *

Though transition used to mean sex change and now just means changing pronouns,.

(Women commit 2% of sexual violence)

GenerallyOffended · 19/09/2016 13:41

A woman is who ever identifies as one Basil.

no idea what they are identifying as though as they can't define that. It was so easy when it mean human with a brain and an individual personality and a vagina

Actually Jeremy can you define 'lady brain' while you are here? As main stream politics seems to agree there is such a thing. Also what is a 'man brain', and do you have one and is it the man brain that keeps men in power? And the lady brain that keeps women at home petting kittens?

happymumlondon · 19/09/2016 13:44

Under your leadership, will you lead the PLP to require:

  • a vote of parliament before Article 50 is triggered?
  • staying in the single market as a mandatory component of any Brexit deal?
  • a second referendum on the actual Brexit deal, where the electorate is provided with accurate and sufficient detail of the deal?
AskBasil · 19/09/2016 13:45

Oh yeah, like this one here GO?

Have a click Jeremy, think about the definition of woman while you're at it.

Hmm
snowysnowstorms · 19/09/2016 13:46

Hi Jeremy

Thanks for coming. Can I ask why you voted with the Tories 263 times?

Njcox · 19/09/2016 13:48

Would you consider introducing nurseries at places of work? A model that works well in Scandanavia for example?

IndominusRex · 19/09/2016 13:49

Also what is a 'man brain', and do you have one and is it the man brain that keeps men in power?

THIS

Now I'm no mum, but I'm sure mine would like to say this too!

Next year, I am meant to be going to university. However, I don't feel at all prepared, and for the staggering £18,000+ debt I will accumulate for it, I don't want to risk putting myself in an environment that might not benefit me at all.

My education has done nothing of value to prepare me for university other than say "Hey, go to university". Would you back a change for tuition fees, or just the way children are forced, mostly against their will, to go to university?

digger440k · 19/09/2016 13:57

Jeremy,

I joined the party because of you. Unfortunately I don't get to vote even as full paid up member but I'm chuffed to hear of the plans for democratic policy decisions.

On education / IT: we should have the national syllabus online and be under version control so teachers can download / amend / extend. Local teachers to me are not even allowed to work together to build their weekly plans.

user1474288401 · 19/09/2016 13:58

I have 2 days left to vote:

1.One of the observations/criticisms of your leadership is that the party/you/cabinet is too slow to respond and comment when issues make the news. As opposition and more importantly if you were ever elected, you have to be 'on it' at all times! Will you take this on board and adapt accordingly?

  1. You pretty much ignored calls to stand down when a vast majority of the PLP thought you should because you believed that being in power is what the members want. I personally think you should have been given more of a chance however I can't ignore the views of people who have worked directly with you. What I would really like to know is, if you are re-elected, what conditions would it take for you to concede that perhaps it's not working out and indeed you are not the right person for the job?
  1. Another thing that puts me off, is the assertion by many of your supporters that the 'Labour party' of the past was right wing or bad! What is your view on this?
ilovemydogandMrObama · 19/09/2016 14:00

Hello!
What is going on with long term Labour Supporters being suspended from the party?

Louise080364 · 19/09/2016 14:00

Hi Jeremy how would you end Children in the UK living in poverty?

RobiMous2 · 19/09/2016 14:01

You talk about nobody being left behind. Currently children with SEND -Special Educational Needs and Disabilities - are being failed in their thousands by schools and Local Authorities not abiding by their duties under the new SEND legislation in CAFA 2014. How will Labour under your leadership address these children that are currently being left far, far behind?

lordStrange · 19/09/2016 14:01

hey Jeremy good luck Flowers

RortyCrankle · 19/09/2016 14:02

I can only think of two reasons why you insist on remaining leader, despite the destruction of the Labour Party. Either this is a huge joke to you or you have a massive ego - which is it?

Hello

TheBigDog · 19/09/2016 14:03

Hey Jeremy

What would you say about what Momentum is doing to politics. Why are you allowing these hooligans to control your party?

For the sake of the party, please stand up to them!

nicjones2910 · 19/09/2016 14:04

Sorry just read that I can only ask one question.
Hi Jeremy, why do you feel its a good idea to allow the members to elect the shadow cabinet rather than the PLP?

Bunson · 19/09/2016 14:04

Ed Balls

Darcy1234 · 19/09/2016 14:04

I second RobiMous2's question.
