Hello all,
Piers Morgan, former Editor of the Daily Mirror and News of the World, and now Executive Editor of First News, a weekly newspaper aimed at 9-12 year olds, is coming to Mumsnet for an online chat on Tuesday 10th October at 12.30pm. So make sure you make a note in your diary to log on and post a question. If you can't make the actual event do post your question in advance here. Whilst he can't promise to answer every one he'll do what he can (and we reckon he should be able to type quite fast being a journo and all that).
Best,
MNHQ

Are you sure Tutter? [anxious emoticon]

marthamoo · 10/10/2006 13:04

Piers, you are a bit slow at typing - you should have asked for an amanuensis (cod would have volunteered like a shot).

PiersMorgan · 10/10/2006 13:04

Dear RTKangaMummy

First News is £1, very good value for a weekly paper. Most kids' magazines cost over £2 these days.

TutterIckOrTreat · 10/10/2006 13:04

yes, yes, fret not. but we have another sensible one about his paper first...

badkarma · 10/10/2006 13:05

Piers

Media freedom is a myth in the UK where over 50 pieces of legislation restrict what can be reported. Can you comment on the balance between media freedom and human rights such as privacy of the individual, the right to fair trial and the protection of minors?

Oh, and can you possibly tell me your definition of the difference between the truth and bias. Isn't biasedness just one persons view of their truth?

moaningpaper · 10/10/2006 13:05

martha 10 points for getting the word amanuensis onto the thread

TwigTwoolett · 10/10/2006 13:05

ooOOOoooooo get you Moo ...

edam · 10/10/2006 13:05

Piers, I bought your book (several copies as presents too), pretty please could you answer my question? Am worried you'll cut and run before you get there!

PS I'll set Jill Palmer on you if you don't.

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 10/10/2006 13:05

So where d'you get this paper then? I've never seen it.

diNOLOOKINGOVERYOURSHOULDERsau · 10/10/2006 13:05

PMSL at the idea of cod typing for piers.

I'd love to read the ensuing jumble.

RTKangaMummy · 10/10/2006 13:05

Thanks for info

marthamoo · 10/10/2006 13:05

I thank you

moaningpaper · 10/10/2006 13:06

he's doing very well, Dave had buggered off by now and didn't even TRY to slag off Cherie Blair

Tinker · 10/10/2006 13:06

I don't care but it was Paxman's question to Michael Howard - had to ask 12 times. Like slug is having to.

caffeinequeen · 10/10/2006 13:07

Thanks Piers I love your frankness. You'd fit in very well at MN

redbull lady and marthamoo Cod said she wasn't well. But DID want to know Piers' fave Abba track - so we'll wait to hear.

TutterIckOrTreat · 10/10/2006 13:07

whhoooooooooooooooooooosh

(noise of tinker's joke having gone over everyone's heads)

very good tinker

redbullbloodandbump · 10/10/2006 13:07

I WANT MY QUESTION ANSWERED!!!

niceglasses · 10/10/2006 13:07

Sorry spent too long on park bench reading Heat - what is 'amanuensis'???

PiersMorgan · 10/10/2006 13:07

Dear HuwEdwards,

Not THE Huw Edwards? shouldn't you be preparing the news?

Anyway, our prime objectives on First News are to get kids reading again. They spend far too much time looking at screens, playing video games and watching TV. We want them to spend at least some time once a week reading a paper that explains what's going on in Britain, and the word, in language they can understand.

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 10/10/2006 13:07

Are we allowed to ask him what he thinks of She Who Must Not Be Named?

(Sorry if that's too norty Mumsnet )

TutterIckOrTreat · 10/10/2006 13:08

ok, he has 4 more Qs before slugs

so stop harrassing

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 10/10/2006 13:08

Tinker I got it!

saltire · 10/10/2006 13:08

Thank you for answering my question. Not convinced about Paul Burrel though. If she trusted him so much why is he doing what he is - selling her life?

Anyway, i have another question - if there's time. i haven't had a chance to read your new paper, but is it/does it take the opportunity to make children aware of healthy eating?

fridascruffs · 10/10/2006 13:08

my boy's got a toy penguin called piers. it swims in the bath and types faster than you.

RTKangaMummy · 10/10/2006 13:09

ScareyCaligulaCorday
