Hello all,
Piers Morgan, former Editor of the Daily Mirror and News of the World, and now Executive Editor of First News, a weekly newspaper aimed at 9-12 year olds, is coming to Mumsnet for an online chat on Tuesday 10th October at 12.30pm. So make sure you make a note in your diary to log on and post a question. If you can't make the actual event do post your question in advance here. Whilst he can't promise to answer every one he'll do what he can (and we reckon he should be able to type quite fast being a journo and all that).
Best,
MNHQ

"Did you threaten to overrule him?"

shimmy21 · 10/10/2006 12:50

We would all love to hear your answer to slug's question.

Are you avoiding it by flirting with us Piers?

PiersMorgan · 10/10/2006 12:50

Dear caffeinequeen,

The person I most enjoyed meeting was Diana, what a laugh she was. Sexy, bright, funny and mischievous. And the least impressive was Cherie Blair, a poisonous back-stabbing, charmless little creature.

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 12:50

Justine

Does the poor man, think he has wandered into a madhouse. ??????

Tinker · 10/10/2006 12:51

"Did you threaten to overrule him?"

SherlockLGJ · 10/10/2006 12:51

Blimey Piers

Don't hold back.

Blandmum · 10/10/2006 12:51

'Going well', What are you doing with him Justine, and is it slowing down his answering of questions?

PiersMorgan · 10/10/2006 12:51

Dear batters,

Re the 'shares' scandal:

I was cleared, three others were convicted.
You do the maths.

TutterIckOrTreat · 10/10/2006 12:51

knew this was going to warm up

ginmummy · 10/10/2006 12:51

I'm sure Cherie loves you too Piers!

GhoulsToo · 10/10/2006 12:51

oh - I see this is the original thread so I've asked my question twice -

oh well, maybe it'll get me noticed!

katzg · 10/10/2006 12:51

say it like it is why don't you!

slug · 10/10/2006 12:51

Piers isn't selling tabloids to children. He's selling papers mainly to parents to give to children. It is a valid question, because there is no need to portray women like that, especially not to children who are forming their views about how society works.

What to you tell a sporty girl who only ever sees male sportspeople on TV or in the papers? Girls don't play sport? Or the TV and newspapers are mainly run by men who don't value women sportspeople and probably are a bit intimidated by females who achieve outside the narrow grounds that they deem as acceptable?

diNOLOOKINGOVERYOURSHOULDERsau · 10/10/2006 12:52

Blimey! Fantastic.

CheesyFeetcomingtoGETyou · 10/10/2006 12:52

"Cherie Blair, a poisonous back-stabbing, charmless little creature"

lolololol

that phrase will live with me until the end of my days

NOMurDErousPLUME · 10/10/2006 12:52

So you're not keen on old Chezza Blair then ?

Funny, she speaks very highly of you

arf

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 10/10/2006 12:52

"Poisonous back-stabbing charmless little creature"

That has got to be a headline somewhere, surely.

Oh go on Piers, tell us some more about who you don't like.

PiersMorgan · 10/10/2006 12:52

Dear bctmum,

Yes, children do have the chance to write and co-edit First News. We actively involve kids right through the paper, from reporting to reviewing, to choosing stories for the front page. This is a paper written mainly by kids, for kids. Which is why, surprise surprise, kids like it.

moaningpaper · 10/10/2006 12:53

Oh no! I voted Cherie Blair as the Person Who Had It All That I Most Wanted To Be on last night's thread.

Oh well I HAVE said before that I have a bit of a thing for Ian Hislop so I am probably not Piers' kind of woman anyway ...

Piers what website do you waste the most time on?

JustineMumsnet · 10/10/2006 12:53

Sherlock... nah I suspect he thinks we're all charming .

Dear ginmummy

I wear Calvin Klein boxers - is there anything else a real man could possibly wear?

TwigTwoolett · 10/10/2006 12:53

was Diana a little bit .. well... thick? Her public persona always seemed a little bit .... well, thick

Emskilou · 10/10/2006 12:54

pmsl @ poisonous back-stabbing, charmless little creature.

Stargazer · 10/10/2006 12:54

Hi Piers

Okay, I've read the newspaper (well skimmed it) - and it's good. Much better than I was expecting to be honest. I think my son will enjoy the quizzes at the back - but hopefully, it'll get him reading the news too.

Now - about Slug's questions - are you getting there yet?
