I know this is a first world problem, but if anyone can offer any cunning solution to aid me try and get into these jars I would be most grateful. I have tried the usual techniques, tapping lid on floor, even took a hammer to one in a fit of pique. Nothing. Nothing at all...gah!

Right, time for me to spring into action and head to Sainsburys I'm afraid. I will update later with a pic of the tuna pasta bake (if it's not sacrilege to bung it in a pasta bake.... should I instead be making a nice, classy salad Nicoise?)

TicketToTheWrongFilm · 18/07/2020 10:12

🙌🏻

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/07/2020 10:13

Ahahahaaaaa Grin Peace be with you my child 😇

JaJaDingDong · 18/07/2020 10:15

I have nothing to add to this thread, except that I think it's hilarious, and, Yay to the Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, who are obviously superior to the Saesneg, always Grin

Actually I'm just marking a spot so I can find you and get updates on the second bottle later.

gingercat02 · 18/07/2020 10:17

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 18/07/2020 10:24

JaJaDingDong · 18/07/2020 10:47

EmpressLangClegSpartacus · 18/07/2020 10:57

Why does the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 not include the bit where he opened the jars????

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 18/07/2020 11:48

Menacing the tuna and leaving it to think about things over night is obviously what worked here. Brutal. But we've all seen the results.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 18/07/2020 11:49

PS everyone knows you drain the tuna so that the juice can be sprinkled into the dog's dinner later

SummerHouse · 18/07/2020 11:51

Do we need to send an address for the feeding of the 5000 mumsnetters Jesus or do you just know?

SummerHouse · 18/07/2020 11:53

Wouldn't it be funny if everyone reading this thread unexpectedly came upon churros and tuna under random and unexpected circumstances....

IaltagDhubh · 18/07/2020 12:18

Will you be leaving your own review on Ocado, OP? “The tuna was delicious, but only Jesus could open the jar.”

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/07/2020 12:52

@EmpressLangClegSpartacus Grin

Had a look and it says, Jesus told the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.

"Broke" = opened?

@SummerHouse Tuna pasta bake is in the oven right now... According to the Gospel of Matthew, I'm in a solitary place near Bethsaida. How soon can you get here?

bilbodog · 18/07/2020 12:55

We still dont know if this type of tuna is Superior to the canned varieties?

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/07/2020 12:59

@bilbodog I tried a bit and can only describe it as very firm and fresh. Hey, I'm the Messiah, not a food critic.

bilbodog · 18/07/2020 13:05

Jesus - thank you - i bow to you!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 18/07/2020 13:07

Couldn't get all 5000 in the shot, but here's a few of them.

My strong DH hurt his arm recently trying to open a jar of olives. Should have used a nail through the lid technique instead.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 18/07/2020 13:08

If he broke the fishes, he clearly misjudged the firm tap instruction
