I just paid £17 to have my passport photo taken and it is NOT MY FACE

I mean, I suppose it must be.

I look like I've just been arrested for drink driving offences, under the influence, and it's 4am in a downtown NY drunk-tank.

This is going on my ZSL pass for my charges and I to visit the zoo (I'm a nanny) so not ideal.

I applied make up. I brushed my hair. I wore a jaunty shade. I skipped along to Snappy-Fucking-Snaps on Charlotte Steet, London as I thought they'd take a nicer photo than my local one in Acton.

The lady asked me which one I wanted, they were all shite but one didn't make me want to cut my head off, I said that one please, she robbed me of my £17.99 and I said I'd pop back in half an hour.

I SWEAR TO GOD SHE SWITCHED THEM to the worst photo of my face I e ever seen. I look awful, I have never looked so awful, and if that is honestly my face I'm cancelling the extortionate wedding photographer we've selected and having my one year old nephew take the pics, at least he's likely to chop out my head.

I now have to present a picture of me looking like a criminal with addiction problems to my new boss for the ZSL card, and I'll have 7 monstrosities left that will never see the light of any day.

I looked fine in the mirror beforehand. Fine.

My fiancé says I'm like a slightly less Chanel-ed version of Natalie Portman (we've had his eyes tested and they're grand but I know he's slightly biased) so WHAT THE FUCK happened. The image is seared on to my brain forever. And the godforsaken ZSL card.

Anyone else look shite when they thought they looked ok?

DISCLAIMER LIGHTHEARTED I know I'm lucky to have a face etc etc

I still haven't worked out how DVLA managed to get a pic of my late mother wearing a blonde wig and put it on my driving licence for a laugh.

astoundedgoat · 13/03/2018 20:07

£17.99? I paid £8.99 for 8 passport photos at Snappy Snaps in Islington the other day. She doesn't look like a criminal, at least, but she doesn't really look like herself either. Hmm

Tiddlywinks63 · 13/03/2018 20:08

My passport photo shows an elderly crone found decaying at the bottom of a swimming pool, even the Passport Control blokes do a double take 😳
Even DH admits it's far from flattering.

Neverender · 13/03/2018 20:08

I once wore a lovely puce coloured top for my passport photo and looked like a floating bust (and I still can't talk about the time I took 5 different passport photos of my own face. Because my fringe was in my eyes. One of them was a HUGE photo of my mug as I pressed the wrong button, so got one instead of four). Fml

BasinHaircut · 13/03/2018 20:09

I always have one eye much bigger than the other in passport photos. Not in other photos, just passport ones.

Fuck knows why.

CremeFresh · 13/03/2018 20:10

photographer made me push my fringe to one side as it was too long

Lucky yours was just pushed to the side! They pinned mine back, not even with a bit of a quiff! Fully slicked, flat as a bloody pancake , pinned back , which is why I guess (what with the naff lighting etc) I look like this

Surprisingly enough the best passport photos i’ve ever taken have come from the photo booths you get in shopping centres. I look like i’ve come fresh from modelling a cover for vogue which is very pleasing considering that I normally look like a soviet factory worker. It’s all about the lighting. Strong diffused lighting makes everyone look better.

carryondoctor · 13/03/2018 20:13

This has sort of happened to all the people I was at school with and am now friends with on Facebook but haven't seen in a long time. Whilst I still look 18, someone has replaced all their photos with pictures middle aged people. I just don't get it!!

HarrietKettle · 13/03/2018 20:15

£17.99. I have the proof. But why is it that much?!!

I should never have days it was for an actual passport photo, it wasn't'!

I just said 'yes' when she asked that as I thought it would be bloody easier and quicker as I wanted to pop into the Oasis sale

Basseting here are the rules about passport photos - you need two identical new photos, even if your appearance has not changed. “New” means taken within the last month.

Look.

I hate Snappy-Fucking-Snaps

He looks like a criminal potato.

Genius Grin

Paperdove87 · 13/03/2018 20:19

The worst photo I have ever seen of me is the staff photo I had to have taken by one of the school photographers who come round once a year. I'd forgotten it was the day for them so I hadn't done my hair, so it's a birds nest, I used the dregs of makeup I had at the bottom of my bag so definitely the wrong foundation shade, and I am shiny and dishevelled with no discernible eyebrows or lashes. Needless to say it looks horrific.

It's on display on the staff photo board in main reception for every visitor to the school to see. Sad

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/03/2018 20:20

At the risk of outing myself as I’ve told this to everyone in the world but DP went to get his passport photos done on the digital upload and they were rejected as his bald head was too shiny GrinGrinGrinGrinGrin Me and Ds are still laughing about it weeks later Grin
When I was a kid my dad looked just like Gerry Adams on his, which is ideal when you’re trying to cross borders in the eighties Hmm

affectionincoldclimate · 13/03/2018 20:20

I look like a cheery Myra Hindley in my passport photo for one of my passports. Turns out that bleached hair and red lipstick doesn't translate well into a black and white photo.

Chesntoots · 13/03/2018 20:21

I take such a bad photo I refused to have a photographer on my wedding day. Probably a good job - we only lasted about eighteen months...

I had my photo taken today on a horse. He is such a handsome chap and when his mum is on him they look amazingly photogenic. Not with me on top he doesn't. Guess who had the bigger nose?

What happens between the mirror and the fucking camera???

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/03/2018 20:22

Myra Hindley Grin

CremeFresh · 13/03/2018 20:23

Grin laughing at all of these. Do you think there's someone specially employed that messes about with passport photos to make them this bad , I think there is and that in real life Vogue would give their right arm to have us on their cover.

Basseting · 13/03/2018 20:29

AlexanderHamilton appearance similar but old passport expired about 10 yrs ago. will i get away with it do you think (if I do it by post)

HappyEverIftar · 13/03/2018 20:30

I've had the opposite. I was once about to board a plane in the US and the security person checking passports said: "You look so much better in your pictuuuuuure". Christ I must have looked rough. That's before I'd even boarded the sodding plane and gone through 10 hours of flying, connections etc. Confused

Thanks love!

MrsJoshDun · 13/03/2018 20:32

I’m 41yo and my new passport which I had done last year has me as a 22yo. I totally missed the bit that said recent photo and thought I’d save myself £5 and use an old spare photo. I look fucking amazing in my passport —and nothing like me—. 😁

brownelephant · 13/03/2018 20:33

dh doesn't have a nose on his passort photo. how they accepted that I will never know

Troels · 13/03/2018 20:35

I had mine an Dd's done in a booth in Tesco last month. Both of us look hideous.
Dh says we should take passport pictures first thing in the morning, when the light hurts our eyes, our hair is standing on end and we look bad. thats what we look like after a long haul flights. Trouble is that is what my new passport looks like
