To harness the power of Mumsnet to make a little girl's Christmas...

Posting here for traffic because I am clearly not BU Xmas Wink

My friend's DD has lost her beloved Floffel. Floffel is her seal cuddly toy from babyhood and will never be found again as Floffel was lost overseas.

Friend's DD has written to Father Christmas asking for Floffel back. Nothing else on the list - just Floffel.

They don't effing make Floffel anymore Xmas Shock Xmas Sad Xmas Confused

Friend's DD as been through the wringer lately - can't go into details as would be outing but suffice to say she could really really do with a boost.

Please please please wonderful people of Mumsnet - if you happen to have an Aurora Naturally seal like the one in the photo hanging around your house (it's flannel not plush apparently and has the word 'naturally' on its bum) that you'd be willing to sell/give away it would truly honestly make this little girl's Christmas.

TIA Flowers

Even if Mr Seal does come home, perhaps he should bring friends as well, the little plush seals??

No not friends, he should come home with a GF and some baby seals.

That would be so cool.

I think I am getting too excited about this.

Hope someone comes back with one for you OP, will check back tomorrow. 🤞 in the meantime.

YouDancin · 13/12/2017 22:02

Hurrah!!

I think you need to buy the little girl the book "Tatty Ratty"
www.penguin.co.uk/ladybird/books/1004985/tatty-ratty/

It is the story of a toy rabbit who is lost. The little girl is heartbroken. They look everywhere- no luck. But the rabbit is coming home - a series of steps that make it look cleaner, buttons back on where they were missing, whiter fur ... etc etc... (as will happen as HER seal is used) ... then the rabbit is reunited with the little girl and we all cry (well I do when reading it).

Oh, my heart is in my stomach!

Reminds me of the lovely story of the little Maileg mouse in Classics. That one had a very happy ending and I hope it’s the same for this one!

If you don’t have any joy I’ve found this similar sounding listing (no photo though) in a shop in NC, USA... unclebubbas.biz/bshop/index.cgi?code=3&cat=12 No idea how legit that website is mind.

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 13/12/2017 22:23

This is both heartbreaking and heartwarming in equal measures.
I hope it has a happy ending.

MrsMozart · 13/12/2017 22:25

Now I'm invested! All crossed for a happy Floffel.

RestingGrinchFace · 13/12/2017 22:31

I really hope that you find it! I remember my father once wading through a pond to retrieve my favourite snugly when I was a child. Toys are like friends at that age.

Jibberoo · 13/12/2017 22:41

TheFormidableMrsC · 13/12/2017 22:54

Oh Bonkerz you superstar! How lovely!

Welshmaenad · 13/12/2017 22:55

Oh this thread has me in tears!! I'm so glad someone has found a Floffel!

When my DD was little we lost her beloved puppy that she could not sleep without and I lamented on another forum I used at the time that there was no way I could find a replacement. Some wonderful poster had an identical puppy, which she sent to me, along with a postcard from her hometown where puppy had been on his holidays. And this was the face of the little girl who got her puppy back
