What are you grateful to Mumsnet for in 2016?

For me it's the Visqueen bin bags I was chosen to try (and converted to a permanent user).

And the amazing support on the couple of serious threads I've posted.

Plus the laughs I've had reading some of the threads on here. Always cheers me up.

Good laughs as always and being able to chat on the suspected autism threads and finding people with the same experiences. That's massive for me.

Telling me about the availability of getting the Men B vaccine through Boots. DS (aged 7) was too old for it to be part of his vaccine schedule so I paid for it. I had NO idea about it being available before hand!

Plus, countless belly laughs.

The laughs, the tips on stuff, the interesting people, the stuff I had no idea about.

Oh, and the What's for dinner' threads. Saved my sanity a thousand times over when I just could not think of what to cook.

oh yes, those threads about 'things I didn't know'! Brilliant to learn something new even at my age :o

I read on here about defrosting the car windscreen by putting a hot water bottle on the dashboard. Genius! Tried it the other day, put the bottle in my car then went back in for breakfast etc. Came out to my windscreen clear while all the neighbours were busy scraping theirs.

I wouldn't have my cat if it wasn't for Mumsnet.

More to the point - my cat wouldn't have his own people again and would still be in a rescue centre.

The ladies of Elderly Parents have got me through another year of supporting my parents when noone in RL wants to even think about what is going on.

And to MNHQ I am deeply grateful for being picked to test a washing machine the week mine died, and the Visqueen bags were a revelation!

The support and knowing that people have been through the same shitty situations as me.

Also just being able to ask any question, however ridiculous! Sometimes I'll see a thread and think 'I've always wondered about that'.

All the laughs! Have actually laughed out loud on numerous occasions.

In the early days of January I started realising, before anyone else, that my Mum was seriously sick. MN was very great at hand holding. As sad as it sounds, I also realised we were working with a much shorter time frame than I thought. When my mum was diagnosed, I thought people with cancer died after years. Many MN testimonies gave a matter of weeks. It was hard to learn that I had so little time left, but it prepared me and the whole experience was a lot less traumatic than it might have been.

In the weeks after she passed, I was very much learning to cope alone and MN was very helpful for that too.

So thank you all for that too.

Loads of stuff, especially the woman who turned out to have Sepsis. Mumsnet at its best there.

But personally MNers made me realise my coil was a disaster, just had it out and feel much happier.

HG Mould Remover spray - worked a minor miracle on the grouting in my bathroom.

The support on here is incredible. I do think that it does show MN at it's best when the chips are down for someone.

Bit jealous about the washing machine - I didn't get picked and we had to buy one instead!

The laughs great big belly, spitting your coffee out laughs at times.

Seeing MN support at its best on several threads over the year.

Thanking my lucky stars that I dont have those 'toxic' people in my life that many people seem to have, I despair of mankind sometimes.

And when the going gets tough and we all have a jolly good moan, rant, scream on here I also get reminded that it will pass and others have much more shit to deal with and still survive.

Face book selling shite threads! Often just no words...

I am grateful MN literally saved a woman's life when she posted about her heavy period which turned out to be a serious infection. Grateful that her family are not missing her.

For keeping me relatively sane.
And the laughs.
The knowledge base here is incredible.

An MNer sent me an unused Mooncup and it has changed my life.

When my DD started uni this year (age 17) we were clueless about what accommodation to choose so I asked MNetters on the Scotsnet board to look at the options and tell me what would be best, we changed my dd's accommodation at the last minute because of the replies and I'm so glad we did.

Maybe not just 2016 - but in many previous years too - I'm grateful for meeting many MNers IRL and finding that they are an absolutely lovely bunch of women. Fun, witty, clever, amazing .....

I'm also grateful for finding out so many things about 'modern life' - I'm in my 50s and I'm quite sure there's so much I wouldn't know about without all the information on MN

And, yes, just the vast variety of knowledge, humour and 'off the wall' ideas about so many things.

The EU ref threads which gave me a chance to really talk about the issues and hear both sides. It was good to listen to the views of some posters who were in situations very different from my own and hearing how the EU affected them and why they thought what they did. Not something I could easily do in real life.
Countless practical solutions from pillowcases to cookery.

The laughs, banter and plenty of advice. You are all a very welcoming lot and long may Nms continue.
